Well, you might say that we are officially in the sweat pants / sweat shirt season. Outside temps this morning were in the mid 50's (F). There was a time when these temps signaled it was time to put away our shorts and T-shirts. Not any more. I work with people who wear shorts all year round. Believe it or not, the same thing used to be true with sneakers. Odd how things change as we adapt.
As I'd said, I'm looking at my subscriptions since my income is going to be halved in a few weeks. One of them is the NYT - I pay $17 a month for the digital edition. That's $4.25 per week. That's not much in the scheme of things, so that one is going to stay on the books. A subscription to the Dallas Morning News costs $5.00 per week. I am not subscribed because I think that's way too expensive for a regional paper. While the articles provide more gist, those details are far too focused on localized happenings for someone who is not a resident of the state.
I took this pic of Lily yesterday. She looks so pensive, doesn't she? Actually, Seig had one of 'her' toys in the living room. In case you didn't know, every toy is 'her' toy.
Racism keeps this country from being the land of opportunity.
ReplyDeleteJust the other night Hannity suggested we make people PAY to enter this country. I'm sure he meant make People of Color pay because white people are good people and are welcome any time.
Actually, the costs for becoming an American citizen are exorbitant, beginning with an $800 physical by an authorized physician. Many Americans don't understand this.
DeleteI can't complain about the cool mornings...I do love them, but I don't own any sweat top, and only one sweat bottom. It might be cooler, but I still sleep in the buff. Im a human heater.
ReplyDeleteI practically live in sweats during the fall, winter and spring. Comfy as hell, they are.
DeleteThe assignment to the paint department makes no sense to me. However…I’m admiring your decor in the photo, especially the paint color!
ReplyDeleteThat's what used to be my dining room. There used to be a bay window with a window seat where Lilly is
DeleteAww she looks so pensive!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course EVERY toy is hers. Duh. I'm sure she thinks it's written in her contract. I only subscribe to Out magazine. I get the NYT through work and several digital newspapers through my local library. Love libraries.
And you are right: becoming an American is absurdly expensive. You need work permits, medical exams and the such. And document processing fees are exorbitant. All this while paying taxes, suffering racism if you are not white and no certainty that you'll ever become an American. It's not the 'dream' it used to be.
XOXO
Every toy is hers, and she can be very selective, spending 10 minutes looking them over. When I heard how much it costs to become an American citizen I was bowled over.
