Okay, the crappy weather that was predicted to start somewhere around 0600 has still not arrived, though I will admit the we did have a very red sky this morning. Originally freezing rain was supposed to occur between 6 AM and 2 PM. Those hours have been reduced to 8 AM to 9 AM.
Yesterday I picked up Biggie's prescription at the Vets. $29 for a month of gabapentin. This morning I will check out the cost on PetMeds. Chewy's pharmacy doesn't carry the drug.
I'm also making lasagna today. I will make the sauce sometime this morning, and then assemble and bake it this afternoon in time for dinner.
Oh, and I went to see The Lost City last evening. For those who don't know, it's a Rom-Com made for white women. There is some minority casting, but basically this is a vehicle for an aging Sandra Bullock to get her name on a marquee. There were a lot of women in the theater. Don't get me wrong, I found it very entertaining at times. Channing Tatum does take his shirt off a lot, as well as his pants in one very nice, long scene. A furry Daniel Radcliffe is a decent villain. Essentially, this is the story of a romance novelist grieving for her dead husband, though, being the cynical type that I am, I felt I was watching a film about Bullock grieving for genre she, as an actress, needs to bury.
I quite like the look of that movie, even if Sandra Bullock movies seem to be all much of a muchness to me (she's still lovely at 57)!
ReplyDeleteI'm betting there was more than a little digital retouching done, and there was a little way to much muchness.
DeleteSandra Bullock is one actress to be sure to always put me in a good mood with her movies. The one she did with Melissa McCarthy had me in stitches. For being gorgeous...she is certainly funny.
ReplyDeleteNever been a big fan, though Tatum has some really stunning moments.
DeleteEvery day it looks more and more like the Left was right about Thing 45 to the people who thought him a savior.
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to suspect he's here to destroy them.
DeleteOh, it's been crappy here too. In the upper fifties but rainy as all hell.
ReplyDeleteAnd Sandra in the Lost City basically subverts the idea of the damsel in distress and makes Channing her bitch. HE is the damsel in distress, showing skin and all. I love it. They both play versions of versions of themselves, which makes the whole movie very Meta (and Daniel playing the baddie? Yes, please). It's funny that you nail the whole premise and then try to say that she's too old to parody herself. Ha! Duh. She's doing exactly that. Very smart.
And Twittler is throwing shit to the wall to see what sticks. Those hours of missing phone logs are more wood in the fire of what I hope is his demise.
He's a Russian Asset.
XOXO
She is too old, digital magic was used in more than one close-up. And you're right, everything is hitting the GOP all at once, and things are just getting started.
DeleteHeh
DeleteMaybe too old if you're looking at her from your age... most leading men in action movies are over fifty:
Jason Stathman is about Sandra's age give or take three years: 54. Liam Neeson is 69. Bruce willis is 67. The Rock is almost fifty. Ralph Fiennes is 60, Gibson is 66, Keanu is 57, Daniel Craig is also about Sandra's age. And this list comes just from the top movies on iTunes. And she looks great to be past 55 (she's 57?). I want some digital magic used in me next time I'm on camera. I wanna look like a baby.
XOXO
Nope, she's too old. She was in an action / adventure movie in which all she did was walk, or get carried. Everybody else runs, even Da'Vine Joy Randolph, who was a hell of a lot funnier than Bullock. The part was written for someone in the 30's, not someone heading into 60. This was a watered down Romancing the Stone
DeleteLooks like a less successful version of Romancing the Stone. I don't have the stomach for romantic comedies. Call me jaded.
ReplyDeleteLess successful is right.
DeleteIf you're a Costco member, you can sign your dog up for the prescription plan.
ReplyDeleteNot a member, but Chewy gives a good deal on the carprofen.
