Well, a happy Sunday morning to everybody out there. I am starting 6 consecutive days away from work today. If I were working fulltime, I'd call this a Staycation since I'm not going anywhere, however, since I'm a part-timer now, I'll just call it a a non-scheduled work week. I'm scheduled again next Saturday, the same the Kid's Workshops restart. Can you tell how excited I am?
The temps today are forecasted to reach the high 70s (F) to low 80s (F), so I'm betting I'll be turning on the window A/C units upstairs. We might get a late afternoon thunderstorm, again, that's fine with me. My outdoor plans as limited. Tomorrow the temps are supposed to drop back into the mid 60s (F) for the rest of the week. I can deal with that, too.
I'm thinking of extending the veranda by the side of the house. That would be laborious, which means it's a good way to burn calories. Burning calories is always good.
One of the things that I realized as I was moving files to the new computer was the number of pictures I have of Lily. While I talk a lot about Biggie, the shots I have of her vastly outnumber the pics I have of him. He was not happy, so I took this one as he shot me the stink eye while he brooded away on the futon.
There's more than just the vax passports/masks that pissed people off with Macron, in fact people were very good about wearing masks and I never saw anyone kick off about it. There's the sale of Alstom and its technology to the US when Macron was Minister. The US kept the technology and are now selling it back to France at a grossly inflated price. Then there's the millions paid to McKinsey (who just coincidentally worked for free for him on his first campaign) with little to no output, plus the fact that despite making millions in France they paid no tax in France whatsoever (their rep was caught lying about it before the Senate and they are now being inestigated). Then there's the fact that Macron declared net personal wealth in his 2017 campaign of just €156,000 when he first ran and only €500,000 this time round, despite earning about €4 million when he worked for Rothschild Bank and despite the fact that he would have gotten a multi-million euro bonus when he negotiated the sale of Nestlé's nutritional unit to Pfizer. Plus Alexandre Benhalla .... Plus, plus. I could go on but I won't! So you're right, many people are not actually voting FOR Le Pen they are voting AGAINST Macron and that gallic sneer of his. I doubt Le Pen will get in but who knows. We should find out in a few hours anyway!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I wasn't saying that Macron didn't have some serious issues, but rather that many French voters weren't even thinking about how a Le Pen presidency could quite easily become a nightmare for the country.
DeleteYou're absolutely right. For many people it really was a vote against Macron rather than for Le Pen. Hopefully next time I'll have the vote myself. Oh, and I forgot to say, I love your colour scheme!
DeleteWe're set for 2nd boosters the first of May.
ReplyDeleteI have no problem trying to be safer than sorrier.
DeleteHappy Sunday and Happy start of Non Scheduled Week! Unfortunately I go back to work from spring break tomorrow. It's going to be hard to resume my regular schedule.
ReplyDeleteBiggie's a handsome boy!
I'm planning on enjoying the time off.
DeleteThey've just announced the French results. Macron 58%, Le Pen 42%!
ReplyDeleteThanks, again! Since I am somewhat knowledgeable in French, I get a news feed from Le Monde and that news flash woke me up from a nap with the dogs.
DeleteI have to consider getting a second buster also.
