Well, here we are at Monday, the start of a new week. Isn't it exciting? Every week is a new adventure in so many ways.
I'm planning on doing another little video this week for my YouTube channel. I'm thinking of calling it the Note Tote. It seems as though I'm constantly jotting notes down when ever I'm working on a new project and I try to save most of them in a plastic tote. My hard copy manuscripts are also stored in the tote. So, I'm thinking of exploring the latest tote, the one for The Body Under Ice, and putting some of my notes on virtual display.
There were numerous call-offs at the store yesterday, so I ended up working late... in paint.
Grammy awards were given out last night. I don't watch award shows, especially the Grammys. With over 70,000 voting members often nominations are more about name recognition and popularity rather than quality and talent. Beyonce led with 9 nominations and... oops. Well, she did win the award for Best Electronic / Dance Album. This led some bobo from the Washington Post to claim that the Grammy's, for over 20 years, had ignored talented black women. He evidently missed the fact that Lizzo, a very full-figured black woman, won the award for the Record of the Year. Album of the Year went to Harry Styles. Be honest, how could anyone not like Harry dancing around in his silver, sequined, and tasseled jump suit? For the first time in her life, Cher has some very serious competition. I can only wonder how Bob's going to rate him in his "who wore it best" listing.
I do find Harry strangely attractive, even in glitter tassels.
ReplyDeleteI find the GOP lying hypocritical pigs in everything.
I saw some of the fashion from the Grammys but didn't watch and don't have the time, which is a shame because there was some funky ass ugly shiz out there!
I agree with you about Harry, perhaps because he seems to be a nice guy. Republican hypocrisy is their downfall.
DeleteWhile I've read about Harry Styles I don't think I've ever seen him perform. Looks a bit like a candle on New Year's Eve to me! Very ABBA-ish!
ReplyDeleteI've seen several of his videos. His stage costumes are always a bit over the top. He's a fairly decent actor. too.
DeleteI don't watch the Grammys either for the same reason you stated. I think it is more popular contest over quality of the work. I mean I enjoy some Beyoncé music but is it really groundbreaking or that creative? A new sound something we haven't heard before? Meh.
ReplyDeleteI watched most of the Grammys. It was fun. Harry was not as fun as he usually is in his live performances, though. Maybe he was tired after 15 dates of his concert?
ReplyDeleteAnd the last Black woman to win Record of the Year was Whitney Houston in 1994. That's some stretch. Thirty years? Beyonce was robbed. But she's got all those Grammys to keep her warm. I don't mind Styles winning, but both Bad Bunny and Bey had better albums. Also, she said that winning that category does not happen to men like him. What? White, cisgender men with a full publicity machine behind him? I laughed.
And the balloon is the latest fabricated outrage from the repugs. Don't look. Mango Mussolini did worst things.

Testy, aren't we? I don't mind correcting you, but the last time a black woman won Record of the Year was 2023 and her name was Lizzo. You must be talking about Album of the Year. What hurt Beyonce is that she released what was considered a 'dance album.,' which is why she won the Best Electronic / Dance album. No dance album has ever won Album of the Year. Another thing that I think hurt her was the fact that there were so many 'contributors.' One song has 12 contributors (not counting samples), so, who really wrote the song? Personally, I'm waiting for you to post a picture of yourself in a silver pantsuit with sequined tassels to wear to the club... you do know you're going to buy one, don't you?
DeleteHa!
DeleteYou're funny. Almost.
You'll get there one day.
