Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

The Looming Republican Failure

The outside temp was 16 (F) when I got up this morning.  We're not up to 17 (F).  Today is the first of three days in which our temps will climb above the freezing mark.  Snow and ice will melt.  That's a good thing.  Forecasters are saying we have another dip in the temperatures heading our way at the beginning of next week.  Rather than 5 days with daily highs only in the teens, there's only going to be one day.  We are almost halfway through winter, so things are bound to start warming up sooner rather than later.

Yesterday I worked a full shift.  Things were slow in my department, but people were buying.  The store will have made plan last week.  That's a good thing.  But, I can also tell you that corporate has adjusted our plan way, way down. Even though we are hitting our goal, it's not the goal that had originally been planned.

The first draft of The Body in 4:4 Time will be finished this week.  This one is taking a lot longer than the others.  I honestly believe this is because we are living in the worst American shit show ever.  This is the greatest distraction of normalcy this country has ever known.  There is nothing even remotely sane about our day to day news cycle.  Slowly, but surely, even Fox Entertainment is beginning to understand.

I have friends who have been Republican all of their lives. They don't put a lot of thought into who they're voting for, they simply pull automatically pull the Republican lever when they vote.  They have believed that the Republican party was going to do the best for the American people.  They are now seriously questioning those beliefs.  They thought a Republican government would maintain the status quo.  Now, that is not even close to happening.  Many of them are realizing that the choice Republicans are giving them isn't really a choice, but an order.  Being that they are Americans, this does not sit well with them.  Having a wannabe oligarch dictating how they live their lives was not on their bingo cards, and as a result, many of them are simply not going to play that game.  Their duly elected leaders are stunned to find out that their constituents are objecting to the Republican mantra of "shut up! we're in charge."  This is what happens when you delude yourself into believing fantasies, like a silent majority of conservatives.  This map shows just how badly the Republican part has overstepped their grounds.

Even Republicans are refusing to have an authoritarian government.

The Boxer Thief

We have a Sunny Day!  At 61 (F), our morning is a bit cool, but that's fine, we had a good night for sleeping.  Unless something changes, our forecast is calling for good sleeping weather for the rest of the summer.  Long range forecasts, however, are telling us that we're going to be getting a lot of rain next week, so it looks like Autumn's rainy season might be getting here a bit early.  Having a wet spring and a wet fall is better than dealing with a drought.

I did work yesterday, and managed to get a measure for a blind installation.  Otherwise, I endured a long five hours at the flooring desk.  I did get my steps in, so there is that.  Fifteen minutes of that time I spent talking to a customer about vinyl plank flooring, but mostly it was just me, myself, and I.

The day wasn't a complete loss, I did get some words written on a chapter titled Cacophony. I'm also making notes on the next chapter tentatively titled I Hear a Waltz, but that could change.

I have not heard from Xerox regarding the broken printer they sent me since Wednesday afternoon, so later this morning I will be giving them a call.  The great orange home improvement retailer I work for would have been on this problem in a hot minute, as my friend Patty likes to say.  Sometimes you need to remind companies that the review they get relies totally on their efficiency of resolving complaints.

And here's a picture of the boxer thief caught in the act.

And last evening Orangie patrolled the streets of Washington DC with a small entourage of police and national guardsman.  When I first heard this was going to happen I wondered if this was just an excuse for a quick road trip to MacDonalds.  However, it didn't take me long to realize he was just pulling a page out of Kim Dumb Jerk's playbook in an attempt to make himself more popular with the people.  No doubt some cultists looked upon this stunt with glowing admiration.  I'm talking about those who fail to realize that Orangie would never go anywhere his team deemed to be unsafe.  He must have had a long nap in the afternoon since he appears to have a problem with sundowning.

And Fox Entertainment did release some good information yesterday.  They said that if Mamdami wins in New York, they will move their operations to Florida.  Now tell me, doesn't that bring a smile to your face?

The Win Win Situation

So, yesterday was hot and sticky, then we had some rain (not a big storm), and no it's cool.  Nice and cool.  After a number of days of 90 degree (F) weather, our temp is only going to climb into the mid 70s (F) today.  I can live with that.

I also worked.  It was meh.  They have initiate a new process within the specialist departments.  They now want us to set up an appointment for the customers to come back and talk about their quote after they have been measured.  While I can see the logic in this, I also know it's really a way for us to sell the installation as fast as possible.  Honestly, I don't think it will work that well.  Too many people have to juggle their schedules in order to get the measure set up and a measure only takes 5 minutes.  The convenience of coming in when they have the spare time is going to be lost.  Most will also realize we're setting that appointment not so much for us to go over their quote with them, but for them to pull out their credit card and pay for the installation.  This is true for all specialty associates, so if someone comes in to look at an appliance, you're supposed to set up an appointment for them to come back and purchase.  As I said, I don't think this program is going to go over well.

I stayed up late last night watching TV.  Actually, I watched one of my favorite movies:  Aliens.  This was the first film in which a strong, female protagonist was the store.  Sigourney Weaver has never been better.

And, as usual, the shit show and, or, clown circus of this administration continued yesterday.  The drunkard Hegseth gave some sort of presser yesterday morning in which he yelled a lot.  He was overly animated, some say because he was drinking.  Honestly, I think it's because he's so completely unqualified for the job and in his alcohol riddled brain such animation is a sign of strenght.

Orangie approved of his animation.

This morning Governor Newsom of California sued Fox Entertainment because they lied about his phone call with the Orange Anus.  He wants $787 million and an on air apology from Jesse Watters.  Since he no doubt recorded the conversation, this should be a slam dunk.  Fox will never learn.  In Rupert Murdoch's mind, as long as they're making more than $787 million it's a win, win situation.
