Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Well, it's Wednesday and temps in Central PA are supposed to climb into the low 90s (F) and already people are complaining.  The forecast is for 3 days with temps in the 90s (F) with the high Friday around 98 (F).  This is nothing compared to the weeks the temps have climbed into the low 100s (F) down south, yet people are still going to be going "OMG, can you believe hot stinkin' hot it is?"  In case you're wondering, Saturday the temps are supposed to drop back into the mid 80s (F).

I didn't get a lot accomplished yesterday.  Only 1 load of laundry.  Wednesday is usually laundry day.  I have the window open in the laundry room because the dryer does put out some heat, but I'll close it since temps are going to be warm outside.

Some people had a small book signing for me last evening.  This are nice little get-togethers which usually end up with increased sales.  They're usually held at restaurants where tables can be pulled together.  I sign, and then everybody eats.  For some odd reason, rather than do tables, people were in booths in a restaurant that was packed.  It was loud, and the arrangements made it difficult to see and talk to people, still, I did manage to sign some books.

And, of course, everybody is anxiously waiting for more indictments to drop.  I'm sure the bookies must be making a fortune as people bet which day the next bunch are going to be announced.  It's almost as though we're watching a slow motion horserace as people wager who's going to be first, the DOJ, or Fanni in Atlanta.  This is so much fun.

Of course, people were laughing that the DeSantis campaign jettisoned 38 staffers yesterday.  Some people are calling it a shake-up, other a downsizing.  I'm surprised Ronnie D's not dancing around and singing "do nobody give me no more bad news."  And it is like a constant smack, smack, smack, like four vehicles in his entourage being involved in an traffic accident yesterday.   If I were religious, I might have to point out that it looks a lot like God has set his sites on Ronnie D, perhaps it was his claim that he could have been a disciple.  It's almost like he's trying to set up his own version of the MAGA cult.

Yesterday was somewhat eventful.  The temps were warm, the air heavy with humidity, and then it rained like hell.  Some of it was an hellacious thunderstorm which dropped buckets and put us in a flood warning, and I think some of it might have been the edge of Elsa as she sprinted up the East Coast.  I ended up with about 3 inches of rain.

Prior to that, I had a mini-book signing at a popular restaurant called Black and Bleu.  It was actually a lot of fun.  There's talk of scheduling another on a slightly larger scale.  I'm not holding my breath.  I was surprised by how old I looked in the pictures.  I may have to do something about that.  And I hope you all like my Hawaiian Shirt!

One of my fans.

Also, and not too surprising, the Christian Right is continuing to lose ground in the eyes of the public.  Honestly, is this really a surprise?  While Evolution is normal, the Cracker Jack Crazies have mutated into something else.  Fracturing and splintering, their once overly white toothy smiles have begun chewing off their own legs to get out of a trap of their own making.  I have no problem with this, and can only wish the process could be accelerated.  One thing you can be certain of, they will never understand the truth since they've learned how easy it is to wrap their souls around so many lies.

The people over there

Yesterday was slow in the store.  I spent most of the day fixing problems:  an expensive Coolaroo blind needed to be remade, the measurements were wrong, build a quote for 2 bathrooms that hadn't been included when a job was sold... same old shit... crap... stuff.

One funny thing happened when I got to my locker.  One of our associates was standing waiting for me.  I know this because he said, "I've been waiting for you."  I told him I had been on vacation, and he shrugged.  Swinging open his locker door he said, "I bought your books, can you sign them for me?"  Of course, what's an author to do?  Later, when I found out he was planning on selling them on Ebay, I laughed.  My signature is worth about 2 cents.  On the bright side, he did buy for books!

When I got home from work, I discovered some sort of vague imprints on the outside of that little 5 gallon tank I set up for the Goldies.  It's sitting on top of the record cabinet, so I'm figuring Biggie stuck his nose against the glass while checking out the new fish.  Later in the evening, I found him sitting in front of the tank just watching them swim back and forth, and I'm sure his little doggie brain was thinking "simply fascinating."

This morning, I'm going to do one the rides I like on Tacx.  San Remo, possibly.  San Remo is 24 k railroad line that has been converted into a bike trail, though a lot of people walk rather then ride.  It is very scenic.  I usually ride 14 miles.

So, Iran had an election and a hardline conservative won... by a landslide, not because he was popular, rather many, many people chose to boycott and not vote.  Ouch.  While we over here didn't have voters boycott the 2016 election, a large proportion of the voting public stayed home... and look what we got, and Orange Anus, a loser extraordinaire.  That over here.  Over there?  Iranians may have something worse to deal with... a hardline conservative who sees no middle ground.  I'm sure it will not be long before the people begin to realize they've made a mistake.
