Toasty

 It's sunny, for the moment.  Later in the morning they're predicting winds, though no storms.  And, of course, beginning Monday, we  will be under the Heat Dome, as will much of the eastern United States.  Texas will be dangerously hot.  I feel sorry for those who understand there is such a thing as Climate Change, but have to suffer because their leadership runs away form science.

Yesterday, I did summerfy my house.  That means the window A/C unit is in the bedroom and the standpipe is in the hallway for my Central Air, in fact I turned it on.  It's always set at 74 (F).  I find that comfortable.  The temp upstairs was 79 (F), which is warm.  And yes, my Central Air relies on a standpipe.  This is because when I had it installed all those years ago, I was naive and thought Zimmerman Plumbing and Heating was doing the right thing.  They didn't.  The put the return vent for the second floor in the floor.  Well, since hot air rises, that doesn't work.  The standpipe basically raises the return vent to 6 feet off the floor.  Small businesses don't always have their customer's best interests at heart.

Anyway, when I went up into the attic to get the standpipe, I was stunned to see sunlight shining in around the front window.  That's right, around the window, as well as through it.  Well, damn.  I'd been putting off having the windows replace, now it looks like that's not going to happen.  So, I went down to the computer and filled in the necessary forms and within seconds I began getting phone calls.  I didn't answer any of them, but now I have their phone numbers and will start calling installers later this morning.

One thing that I'm glad to see happening is more and more people, even media outlets, are calling out other news outlets, like the New York Times, and the New York Post, and the Wall Street Journal (the last 2 just happen to be owned by Rupert Murdoch) for their deceitful coverage of Biden.  Sinclair Group is another group of faux news stations that have been lying about the president's mental health.  Sinclair grew very upset when it was pointed out that its new stations were repeating almost verbatim from a article in the Wall Street Journal.  These outlets don't like this.  They want to be seen as the voice of conservative authority and, well, the truth hurts.  Isn't ironic that the fake media Trump's been shrieking about for so many years are those conservative networks and news shows?  I think so.

 Ah... Friday.  This is kind of my humpy day since I'm in the middle of a 6 day work week.  That's right, today's my third.  The weather's supposed to be cool, drizzly, possibly rainy, so that might keep the shoppers away.  If you are interested in stopping by, our Halloween stuff is flying out the doors.  Markdowns have begun.  Now when a customer walks into the flooring department and asks what's on sale, I can point to the front of the store and say "that big, green, inflatable monster."

I'm a little sore from yesterday's visit to Planet Fitness.  I suspect getting back into shape may take a little longer since I am now a little older.  That's fine.  There's nothing wrong with a little muscular discomfort if muscles maintain their mass.  Maintenance is everything.  

Ben Sasse, a Republican from Nebraska up for re-election, apparently trashed the Idiot Jerk in the White House in a phone call to constituents.  This was not simple criticism. Once again, we hear the word 'bloodbath.'

And what about those New York Post stories on Hunter Biden?  Social media is in the process of shutting them down for a number of reasons.  I do believe now their source is being classified as being tampered with by the Russians.  This was, I think, supposed to be another October Surprise.  Instead, Giuliani is being investigated for possibly helping the Russians.  Could a charge of treason be in his future?

And there was a non-debate last evening.  Dueling Town Halls, is what the media was the event (s).  Evidently Biden talked for long periods of time treating the time with voters as an actual Town Hall, even going over his allotted times spot.  As for the Idiot Jerk?  He was contentious and irritable. One headlines claims he "even forgot to attack Biden."  Ouch!!  He used a throwaway line to say he rather than forcefully deny white supremacy.  Oh, and he couldn't bring himself to denounce QAnon (sp).  You have to remember, this man thrives on the underbelly of conspiracy theories.  

Oh, and there are quiet whispers coming from Rupert Murdoch, a billionaire buddy of the Idiot Jerk, who's quietly prophesizing a "landslide victory for Biden."  Notice, he didn't say bloodbath... but in this case, landslide has pretty much the same definition.

 

Wayne LaPierre, loon at large

I could not let the chance to mention Wayne LaPierre slip away, even though so many others have already made their voices known.  My first reaction to hearing what he said at what he called the first Press Conference by the NRA after Newtown was to burst out laughing.  Someone should have gingerly pulled him aside prior to his making an asshole out of himself and told him he was going to sound like a jerk.  Evidently nobody did.  Let's be honest, Wayne just doesn't get it.  Guess what?  He never will.  He could have tried to be slightly human, maybe could have said "one of our own used some bad judgement and trained her mentally handicapped son how to use an assault rifle, and for that we are sorry."  Instead he advocated beginning a police state.  You know, start with armed men in schools, and after a while they could have armed men in office buildings, and post offices, and supermarkets.  I think this says it all:

You need to remember the New York Post is owned by that ultra-conservative Australian Rupert Murdoch.  What does this mean for the NRA?  First of all they need to learn that just because an individual is a member his political vote is his / hers, not theirs.  Secondly, they need to begin to learn the art of the soft sell if they're going to survive.  This relying on a dead Charlton Heston cold, dead hand threat just doesn't work well little children have been murdered.  I doubt very much if they will change their attitude or belief that more guns in America, means a better America.  However, I wouldn't be surprised if in the not to distant future we see a new spokesperson.
