Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Memorial Day Rant

Well, the sun came out yesterday.  It wasn't supposed to, but it did and the temps climbed into the upper 70s (F).  And people went ahead with their cookouts.  This meant that they stayed away from the store.  Sales were not glowing yesterday, but the sun was.  We're going to have the same today, with temps climbing into the low 80s (F).  We have the same forecast for tomorrow, though an occasional spritz of showers is also in the forecast.

All this rain has worked wonders on my raised garden, except for the dill.  (heavy sigh).  The dill didn't make it.  I checked this morning and the few slender stalks that were growing were laid flat and dead to the world.  Well, hell.  I have to go buy a hose this morning, so maybe I'll buy another pack of seeds. I also need another tomato cage.

Work yesterday was boring.  I did get 2 tiny sales to start off the week.  Management grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, and there were tons of cookies for desert.  As a veteran, they also gave me a bag of candy and a nice T-shirt with our logo on it.  I get a T-shirt from them on Veteran's Day and on Memorial Day.  One of my little quirks is that I don't wear shirts with logos in public, I'm not being paid extra to advertise, so I wear them around the house or as an undershirt when I go out in public.

I went out this morning and took a few pics of my roses.  Here's one.

Of course, what would Memorial Day be without an unhinged rant from our pedophile in the White House.  he continued overnight.  The more he rants, the more he hurts the GOP.  He and his allies believe that every Republican will vote Republican, that there is some intrinsic loyalty built into them that no matter what he says or does, in the voting booth they will, without thought, simply vote Republican.  Of course, this is a lie, but then desperate people will grasp onto any lie rather than even attempt to understand the truth.

One of the things he tweeted said that for peace to exist in the middle east, all countries need to accept Israel.  To be truthful, I think most countries would as long as there was also a Palestinian state, however that runs contrary to Netanyahu's expansionism, so that's a non starter.

And it's run-off election day in Texas, Paxton vs Cronyn.  Orangie likes the corrupt stench of Paxton, who, if he loses, will shriek election fraud.  You see, with Republicans, rather than admit they're horrific candidates, they will always place the blame on someone or something else.

Zippo. Zilch. Zero.

Today's going to be a rain day.  All Day.  That means steady showers through the day.  There will be breaks, of course, allowing Howie just enough time to run outside and jump around in mud puddles.  Temps today are going to climb into the upper 40s (F).  That'll be nice.  Next week we'll be in the mid 70s (F).  Isn't that nice?  And Spring is still 2 weeks away.  Of course, temps will drop down.  There will those inevitable freeze warnings for those who start planting their gardens too early.

Yesterday was a good day.  I got a really good workout in.  I did squats, and thrusts, and used the machine.  Using the equipment is important because it proves to me that I didn't simply throw money away.  There are a lot of treadmills, and ellipticals out there being used as clothes racks.  It always makes me feel good to know that I'm not one of those who waste money on something they use for 2 weeks and then forget about.

I have some lunches planned for the next few weeks, which means I really should get a haircut.  My view on haircuts:  get into the salon, get the hair cut, and get out as fast as possible.  I'm not one of those people who needs to chit chat away 5 minutes of my life with a hair stylist.  If I didn't feel the need to look somewhat presentable I'd probably never get one, or shave my head.

I did start a loaf of bread this morning.  It's time to finish backing just before I leave to get my haircut.

And I follow some German man on Threads who posts pictures of sunsets looking out over the Baltic Sea.  His name is Bjorn, which seems like an odd name for a German.  Here's a sunset he posted yesterday.

There was an interesting article this morning on the NBC news website about Democrats flipping elections.  For those who aren't counting, so far the Democrats have flipped 27 seats while the Republicans have flipped zippo.  Zilch.  Zero.  One of the laments coming from the GOP is that without the Orange Anus on the ballot, they're afraid that turnout is going to be light.  They simply do not understand that his base, the MAGA cultists are in no way a majority in this country.  Hell, they only makeup 17% to 19% of the population.  This is not the total number of registered Republicans, that's around 27%, just the crazy people whose fanaticism has taken away their sanity.

The Republican Texas primaries are falling apart.  Orangie has yet to endorse either Paxton or Cronyn, though he has said that after he curses one with his endorsement, the other candidate needs to drop out.  Paxton has said that he's not dropping out no matter what.  This puts Orangie into a bit of bind.  If he endorses Paxton, people will say this is just another TACO.  And if he endorses Cronyn, it means that his endorsement means zippo.  Zilch.  Zero.
