The Armature

I am way past my Hump Day in this 6 day stretch - only 2 more to go before I have my weekend!... and then it's on to another 6 day stretch.  Business in the flooring department is not exactly cracking.I suspect corporate is probably sitting in their offices holding their breaths since much of what we sell is made in China.  Oh, sure, we may carry a number of products that say "made in America," but that's a bit inaccurate.  People don't seem to understand that 'made' means 'assembled.'  So, yeah, the product is 'made in America' with parts made in China.
And it looks like, at least according to the news media, Boris Johnson will take over for Theresa May in that political death spiral called Brexit.  His was one of the loudest voices arguing for this divorce from the EU.  The people of the UK need to prepare themselves.  Once again his pumped up buffoonery is going to take the main stage.  He is going to get brutally stupid, a normal process in minor minds like his.
And, as publication day approaches, I thought I'd write a little about the creative process for the next book.  Initially, while I found the idea of using the Tour de France as a framework for a mystery novel intriguing, I realized the difficulty in juxtaposing the the building suspense of the race with the mystery of a murder.  There needed to be a balance between the two.  The first draft had way too much of the race.  I was told that "if you're an avid cycling fan it's great, however if you're an average person it's..."  well, the word used was 'boring.'  People became more important, more personal as the race became secondary, a constant prodding finger reminding you how quickly time was moving.
Anyway, I thought I'd post a clip from last year's Tour to give you a visual armature.

Allez!  Allez!

  2. Heh
People in America stupidly think very few things affect them. What Cheeto has done to tariffs is going to mess up a lot of things people take for granted.
Brexit is a mess, it was a con move from the beginning and Johnson knew it. May got what she deserved. History will not be kind to her because it is objective.
Oh, Le Tour de France. It’s fun, but yes, if you’re not totally into it, it can get boring. As a device, though I think it’s a cool frame.

    XoXo

  4. Friends and fellow bloggers alike tell me this won't be good. Boris Johnson will be the equal to our very own buffoon. When trump goes there soon, at least he'll have one person to hang with. Funny how of a sudden all the world conservatives and wackos are all raising to power and heads of countries.

    Coincidence?

    1. Johnson will bring an end to the Brexiteers just as the Idiot Jerk will destroy the Republican Party.

  5. I personally believe Boris is very intelligent but he likes playing the buffoon (and got away with it as Mayor of London). He really doesn't give a shit either way as he has tons of money so Brexit probably won't bother him one way or another. However, whatever people say about Theresa May, she was in an impossible situation for a Brexit she was against anyway but had incredible work ethic. She was backstabbed from the start by the chinless wonders of the likes of Gove et al and Boris. Only now if (when) he gets in he will have to stop playing the buffoon and pull it off. It will ultimately be his Waterloo anyway thank God. Hey here's a question for you already Boris. You know that extra £350 million per week that we would no longer be paying the EU but that would be put into the NHS? How's that working out? Oh and Le Pen (extreme right) just beat Macron in the French (EU) elections. But don't be fooled, while Boris plays the buffoon he actually does have a brain (unlike the tangerine chimp), he just doesn't use it! God help us!

    1. I'm not impressed with LePen at all, and believe me, we don't want Boris back. You're right about Brexit being his Waterloo, what a terrible shame so many will end up paying for his ego.
