The Downward Slide

Our outside temp was a cool 41 (F) this morning.  Not bad for the beginning of an mid-Autumn day, and believe it or not, we are on our way to being halfway through the season; just a few more days till we hit mid-point.  Today's high is supposed to climb into the 60s (F) again.  Difficult as it is to believe, this is the forecast for the next 5 days: cool afternoons and warm nights.  Of course, the occasional shower will be falling, but no real ground soakers are expected.

I did work yesterday.  A big sale went through, almost $10,000, to someone who has no problem spending money.  I also sold another measure, so I surpassed that goal as well.  Otherwise business was slow.  And, as usual, we had a customer ask us a silly question.  You would think that being in a hardware/home improvement store might give people a clue as to what we sell.  It doesn't.  Not surprisingly, and this is sad, a woman stopped by the flooring desk and asked with we sold pet food.  I don't know if she was looking for the Kibbles and Bits, or the Meow Mix, but neither product is on our shelves.  There is a PetSmart at the end of our parking lot, so I kindly directed her there.

Here's a gripe about TV series.  I'm truly tired of watching, and enjoying a series only to discover that after it's been renewed, I'm going to have to wait another 2 years to see the second season.  Damn, that pisses me off!  Take Shogun.  I'd read the book in my younger days, and liked it.  The series was amazing!  It won tons of awards, and, as expected got renewed for a second season.  That's great news.  Now for the bad news.  All the cast members are returning, but filming is not expected to begin until sometime near the end of 2026, and the 2nd series is expected to air sometime in 2027.  Damn.  Season 1 was on TV in 2024!  I watched and liked Alien Earth.  It was very popular and is expected to be renewed... though the writing isn't expected to start until sometime in 2026, with the series finally showing up in 2028.  These people need to get their freaking acts together.

And right now many are talking about Orangie's phony interview on what used to be 60 Minutes, but has now become a lacky, kiss ass show.  I understand they started with 70 minutes of footage of Orangie, and then cut it down to around 20 minutes +.  Even still, with all of the editing, his dementia was showing.  I'm sure the cultists tuned in to watch, but otherwise I'm suspecting it wasn't the ratings powerhouse CBS may have been expecting.  In a way, this is Karma for the Main Stream Media.  With Orangie's approval rating on the downward slide of a slippery slope, only the cultists will be watching.  For advertisers, cultists are far from being ideal consumers, unless you're talking about beer and cigarettes.  Even with the network's attempt to sane wash him, Orangie's shadow brain still emerged, as when he admitted he didn't know who the cyber billionaire was whom he pardoned.  He's doing whatever his handlers are telling him to do, without question.  But then I think the only questions that formulate in his addled brain are: "how much are they paying me?" and "can we have more gold in the oval office?"

  1. CBS AKA Can't Be Saved, has lost all credibility. Walter Cronkite is rolling over in his grave.

    1. Trying to steal the cultists from Fox is a lose/lose situation.
