Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

The New Commandment

And the mood of the day is????

Holy Moly!  I got almost 7 hours sleep last night with only a short (28 minute) heating pad session around 0330.  I have not gotten that much sleep in a long time.  And  it's wonderful!  My body battery is recharged, at least that's what my Fenix 6 Pro tells me.  I could easily slip in another few winks, but I do have to work today.

I bought a new shower head before I left work yesterday, this one includes a 'hand held' that I may use sometimes.  This is replacing a Delta that sprayed out the shower door onto the floor.  This was more of a nuisance rather than a hazard, having to mop up the floor every time I showered.

And some of my dahlias in the backyard have finally begun blooming.

Not surprisingly, the Republicans are still moving ahead with their phony audits in a number of states.  At this point, they are on only hoping to sow discord among their base, pushing the concept there's fraud in every election they lose.  This is merely a reflection of their Savior, the Orange Anus' own ego.  Oh, and speaking of Loser #45, I understand he had one of his minions remove praise  of Cyber Ninja because not only did they failed to feed his Big Lie, they reported he had lost by an even larger margin.

And not a small number of Texans woke up yesterday to discover that overnight their groveling governor had cowed his head to the Orange Anus; there is going to be an audit in several counties even though the Anus won the state.  Evidently, the OA has set forth a new commandment:  Let there be an audit to grow disatisfaction.

Not Lost at All

Well, I slept in again this morning and I didn't stay up late.  Over 7 hours of sleep which is rare for me.  I did go for a ride yesterday, so I'm going to use that as an excuse.  I did wake up to another fresh loaf of Italian bread.  One loaf lasts me about a week.

I am going to make an appointment to have my back checked out, not that it bothers me that much, but it's been about 6 years since I last saw my specialist.  And, as with all medical things, I'm going to transition to the VA.  Medicare covers some of the expense, and the VA covers just about everything else.  For example, when I had my hernia surgery my total out of pocket was $50.  That's way less expensive then the $2500 other people on Medicare have to pay.

And they're now calling for boosters shots to help with the fight against Covid.  Don't worry, I'm basically already in line.  The Delta variant is a lot like the chicken pox, if you're not vaccinated, you're going to be infected sooner or later, for most, infection will happen sooner. This doesn't bother me.  To be honest, I'm rather anticipating the infection of certain anti-vaxxers suspecting this is the only way to actually shut them up.

And wasn't that a shit show from Kabul yesterday?  This is what it reminded me of:

Everybody started pointing fingers.  Everybody started jumping to conclusions.  We were going to be leaving all those thousands of people behind to be slaughtered by the Taliban.  However, this morning the picture has changed.  Normal evacuation flights have resumed.  We are flying those who have helped us to safety.  In fact, I understand little Stevie Miller is throwing a hissy fit because the Biden Administration is going to be bring 22,000 to 30,000 Afghan immigrants to our shores.  We know how much Stevie hates brown skinned immigrants.  I'll bet he threw what my grandmother would have called a conniption when the census numbers began rolling out.

Learning the Greek Alphabet

Friday, at last!  Well, not for some of you.  Tomorrow will not be just another day for many of you.  Your work week will begin tomorrow.  Wow.  Ain't it interesting how life works sometimes?  Some people get to sit down at a desk, either at home or in an office, and I get to do laundry and mow my lawn.  Simply fascinating.

Yesterday was not a very busy day at work.  We sold flooring jobs, but the measures they want us to get are not happening as frequently as mgmt. would like.  However, we are heading into August.  Traditionally, in this area of the country, this is the time of year when most people take vacations.  Also, Delta is surging.  More contagious then the chicken pox, they say.  I guess that means chicken pox spreads easily.  I had that when I was a wee toddler, in fact I had what most call 'childhood diseases' when I was young.  Maybe Covid is going to turn into another one of those childhood diseases.

Evidently, in states where Covid is rapidly rising, vaccinations are also on the rise.  The big question is how many will get inoculated before they catch it.  The number of people getting the shot in Florida is on the increase, but people are getting infected much faster.  And Delta is not the same Covid we first met.  For younger people, the prospect of a simple dalliance with the disease has faded.

Finding out that as a fully vaccinated individual my viral load can be as high as an infected none vaccinated individual should be alarming to the unvaccinated.  This means the Delta will spread among the unprotected even faster.

I saw where the Orange Anus has raised quite a tidy bit of money since January and evidently is spending any of it.  Nope.  Saving it for a rainy day, is he?  Or for a run in 2024?  You can bribe a lot of people with that kind of money, which, I don't doubt is one of his standard operating practices.  Or, maybe he'll use it to pay off fines?  Nah, not his modus operandi.  Of course, we saw how much money Bloomberg spent and he got himself nowhere.  I wouldn't be surprised if when things get sticky, and they will get sticky, he's going to take the money and run.

Bite Me

I do believe I had that sign on my back yesterday when I went out to mow my lawn.  Every little flyin' critter within miles began swarming around me.  Lots of little bites.  Nothing serious, and they went away soon after I was back in the house.  Still, if everything weren't so wet.  There is sitting water everywhere.

And last night I went to the movies to see Black Widow.  We did not stay for the tag at the very end, after all of the credits.  Interesting storyline from an earlier time in the character's life.  Most of the cast was women, and it was directed by a women, but there were lots of men in the audience, and not because of Scarlett Johansson.  I thought some of the actions scenes went on a little too long.  Marvel Studios works very hard to take the comic book out of their movies, yet the giant action piece at the end must have come straight from comic book, or graphic novel, which ever you want to call it.

There will be a big change in movie.  The stop at the concession stand is going to have to stop.  $14.08 (+ tax) for a small beverage and popcorn is too much.  The total cost of the movie and the snacks was over $22.  I understand AMC is trying to make back the revenue they lost from last year, and they need to understand that it's not coming from my wallet.  Personally, if they think I'm going to pay their costs, they can just bite me.

Of course, you can't look at any form of news media without hearing about Delta.  More important, every where you look, people are talking about just who isn't getting vaccinated.  And Fox News?  Even though they are all vaccinated, they are shrieking the siren's song of the unvaccinated.  For those who don't know, mythological sirens used to to sing their songs to lure sailors.  They sail their ships onto the rocks, their ships sink, the sailor's die, and the sirens are happy.  This is Fox News.  They really don't care if people die, just about their ratings.  Good ratings lets them charge more in advertising fees.  Personally, when I think of Fox News, the first words that spring from my lips are "bite me."

Sit back and wait

Well, here it is Sunday and Sunday's are slow days.  The temps are to begin their 90 degree (F) run, which means all ceiling fans are running upstairs as well as the Central Air.  This is what happens when you have a very old house with limited venting.

Yesterday was 'cake' day at work.  Not sheet cake or layer cake, rather cate was represented by the Little Debbie, Ding Dong, Hostess Twinkie processed cardboard-fiber cakes complete with hydrogenated, sugary oil substituting for a whipped cream filling.  This doesn't mean I didn't eat any, it's just a notice that I did wreck havoc on my digestive tract.

Yesterday was also the day I learned we no longer have to do the 'health check' before we punch in; no more annoying buzzing sound from the time clock if we skip that step.  I am so happy about that.

And an odd thing happened.  Around 0300 my watch buzzed, waking me up.  It was a notification telling me I had an alarm scheduled for 0500.  That's never happened before.  I think I'll turn of notifications, because I dismissed the notification and the alarm didn't go off.  This means I'm running a bit late, but only a bit.

I'm planning on doing a 10 mile ride this morning as a nice way to end the week.  Yep, that's right, my weeks end on Sunday.  Some religious beliefs have the week ending on Saturday,  Working in retail, Saturday and Sunday might as well be Tuesday and Wednesday.  Most people don't know there was a time in our not too distant past when weekends didn't exist for most of the workforce.  They are a relatively recent luxury.

If that thought wasn't enough to brighten up your day, I have eggplants.  Here's a pic of one.

Finally, I saw Loser #45 had his super-spreader event in Ohio.  Hello, Delta Variant, make yourself at home.  From what I've read, this variant is so contagious you only need to be in close proximity for a few minutes.  By September, it's supposed to be the dominant strain, which is why it's not only going to be the GOP who's holding super-spreader events.  What we really need to happen, is for as many unvaccinated people as possible to attend these things, and then just sit back and wait.

An Unimportant Conversation

Today I have the early shift, opening the store.  After today I will only have one more left.
Yesterday was busy - it was my day off, of course.  At 0720 I had the old ticker checked out since I'm planning on getting back on the bike much more regularly, and I'm not as young as I use to be.  Went to see my Mom... much confusion there, as far as I know I have no other relatives who have suffered with dementia.  My sister thinks that sometimes she fakes it just a little bit to get attention.
And the Idiot in the White House signed another executive order... and blamed all of the protests on Delta airlines.  I have no idea how someone so damn stupid could win the presidency.  The sad thing is that this is only going to get worse, not better.  I had been praying to all of the gods in the Universe that he not be as crazy as we all feared.  It seems all they've been able to do is shrug their shoulders in despair.  Perhaps it's their way of saying you can't perfect stupidity any better than DT.
And, of course, 2 days ago, back on Sunday, I had to deal with a customer who was running neck and neck with DT in the stupid department.
I was discussing credit goals with one of my cashiers when a woman, looking very churchy in her royal blue cloth coat, walked up to me and said "I need some help with a key problem since you're having an unimportant conversation."    ...I'll let that sink in a while... that's right, she actually said, that I was having an unimportant conversation.  Before I could respond she walked over to the key kiosk where she picked up an inexpensive lock and explained that "I need you to change this lock so it will fit this key I have."  Now while we did have one associate on the clock who could do what she asked, I was not that associate.  She's about to get hit by Karma... can you feel it coming?
I smiled at her very nicely and said, "the associate who does that is at lunch right now, if you want, he can rekey that lock and give you a call when he's finished."

Of course, she didn't like that answer.  In fact, she hated that answer.  She hated it so much she threw the lock at the kiosk and furiously shouted "that does it!" before storming out of the building.  Thinking back, I'm sure my response must have made her feel very... unimportant (karma).
