Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Rally in Wilkes Barre

Holy Crap!  We're under a Flood Watch again.  More rain is in the forecast.  The clouds from yesterday are still hanging around overhead.  Temps got warmer yesterday then expected.  The approaching rain is going to drive them down.  I checked out the weather in Greece, and right now it's 94 (F).  It might cool off a few degrees by the time I arrive in 2 weeks, but not much.  But that will be better than walking around the ruins of Spart with the temps blazing in the low 100s (F).

Retail yesterday was boring.  I got a measure.  I talked to some people.  Mostly, I wasted time.  I did have a nice conversation with the store manager, about gaming, and people.  Later I was chatting with Cori, she's the artist who does my book covers and who has known him for as long as I, and we decided how nice it was having a manager whom we've both known for years.  There is a level of comfort many people will never understand.  Not that he's going to let us slide, he wouldn't be store manager if he allowed that to happen.

I ordered a lock for my suitcase.  Not a combination lock, either.  It's not that I have problems with remembering the combinations, it's just that they're so time consuming, having to line the right numbers up.  Honestly, I'd just rather turn a key.  That probably tells you something about how my mind works.  I'd have no problem with a fingerprint lock; just touch it and it opens.  The pack I bought has a combination lock.  The combination is 202, just in case any of you want to break into my pack. 😎😎😎

Orangie had a rally in Wilkes Barre.  For those of you who don't know, it's pronounced Wilks Barry.  The venue seats 9000, some said it was full, others said it was half full.  Most agree that about halfway through his standup routine people begin leaving.  Some say it's because they're expecting something fresh and new and get the same old, same old.  It must be disappointing as hell to see the rah, rah, rah of happiness and joy of a Harris rally, and then have to sit through Orangie's whining, doom and gloom bullshit.  Other's say it's because a large number are paid to be there, but only for so long, and once their payment hits their bank accounts they leave.  Anyway, The Guardian was not so nice to the former liar and thief.  I don't really think it makes much of a difference to this guy.

The Awareness of a Doorknob

Sshhhh... the dogs are still in bed.  For them this is just another sleepy Sunday morning.  I'll have to head off to work in a little over 3 hours.  Boo.  Hiss.  Of course, they will have done their potty outside and have will have nibbled on their breakfasts before then, just like any other day of the week.  With the sun rising later, however, they are sleeping later, which is fine.  They're dogs.  They have a good life.

A little over 3 years ago I purchased a Mocca Master coffee maker.  4.5 ⭐⭐⭐with over 5000 reviews.  Well, I perhaps should have checked out the .5 that gave it a bad review, I'd have learned something.  Almost every one of them complained about the on / off switch, an issue which reared its tiny head about 2 weeks ago.  Some mornings I need to toggle the switch back and forth to get it to turn on.  The good news is that the on / off switch is really the only thing covered by the warranty.  All I need to do is pay the shipping to San Francisco, $35.92 ground Fed Ex, anything faster I'd need to add an additional $100 to the bill.  Mocca Master would ship it back for free after repairs.  The reality is that it's cheaper to purchase a new coffee maker than have this one fixed, so a new, less expensive Krupps coffee maker arrives today.

It's been over a month since my neighbor's husband died.  The house is still not for sale.  Her daughter thought she could sell it 'as is' to the neighbor across the street.  That fell through.  The daughter wanted him to accept too many exclusions: asbestos, lead paint, possible structural damage to the roof, a whole laundry list of problems she didn't want to deal with.  A house flipper might buy it, but not at her asking price.

Here's a picture of another one of my autumn roses.

Of course, Trump was in Wilkes-Barre, PA last evening.  I feel really sorry for those who had to listen to him simply to report his insanity.  People are questioning whether he was on drugs, or if this is a more apparent onset of dementia.  The truth is neither, he's has just finally decided to give into his inner insanity.  Reading some of his comments this morning, I realized how he was rapidly filling in every nook and cranny of the fascist mold he so desperately wants to fill.  The most obvious subtitle for his speech can only be "In praise of dictators."  Putin's great.  Xi, from China, is a king.  I don't think he mentioned Kim Dumb Shit or the Saudis, but then I might have missed a name or two.  If you're wondering where the contents are to those 43 empty folders, look no farther than the subjects of his praises.  You see in Trump's mind, he, and Putin, and Xi, are all on the same level, and so he would have no problems sharing secrets with his friends.

Finally, as expected, he did bring up Hillary Clinton and her emails, and right on cue the crowd began chanting "lock her up," at which point on Twitter someone commented that he had the awareness of a doorknob.  He is single-handedly destroying the Republican Party.

Expectations

Well, will wonders never cease!  Well, it's actually not really a wonder, more of an error on my part, but that doesn't make it any less of a wonder.  You see, I misread my schedule.  Or, probably to be more precise, I made an assumption.  Never make an assumption.  You see, I roasted a chicken with rosemary yesterday assuming I'd take a half-breast along to work for lunch.  Wonder just when my lunch was scheduled, I checked my calendar and... Well, son of a bitch!  I'm not scheduled to work today!  Unless I request off, I always work Saturdays.  It's a given.  Except for today.  This is like a present.  I now have an extra day to fill with chores!

Last Tuesday, Biggie's vet changed up his gabapentin dosage.  She didn't increase it but said he could have another capsule in the middle of the day.  Yesterday was the first time since we've started this new regime that I saw a noticeable improvement.  without his normal aches and pains, he had much more energy yesterday, and no problems sitting down.

And since we are heading into autumn, my late summer roses are blooming.

And while common knowledge tells us to assume nothing, there are times when we can't help but assume, especially knowing the nature of certain things.  Like those 43 empty file folders the FBI recovered from Mar a Lago.  The reality is that Trump's ego mandates he prove his superiority any and every way he can, and so solidifies our assumptions he would eagerly give those documents to anyone he was trying to impress.  None of us have any problem picturing him preening as he hands over documents saying, "oh, it's nothing, just some nuclear secrets I've had lying around."  On the other hand, many thought he there was at least one thing he would do that was presidential.  That was a bad assumption.

Truly, the word assumption is a bad word in regard to Trump.  Do not assume he will do the worst, expect him to do the worst.  He's going to be at a rally up in Wilkes-Barre with the assumption being that he's going to help the foundering campaigns of Mastriano and Oz.  Instead, the reality is that this being his first rally since Mar a Lago he will spend most of his time complain about the FBI, spitting out lie, after lie, after lie.  Expect nothing less.
