Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

What if it's more than just Thin-set

Today's is starting out all bright and sunny.  According to Accuweather, the temps will never leave the 40s (F), which is nice.  This afternoon, however, gusty winds will be arriving and with them showers and drizzles, a precursor to the Cyclone Bomb that will slowly spread across the region this weekend.  The colder temps will please the skiers, since they'll be able to make snow up on Roundtop without having to worry about it melting.  And yes, if you were wondering, we do have ski resorts in the area, though the past few warm winters have not been kind to them.

Yesterday was one of those semi-productive days.  Some chores were completed, others not started.  I did go for a ride on the bicycle.  Paris.  A Garmin Triathlon.  There was a time when the videos for my Tacx trainer were only for rides in Europe, boy has that changed.  And a good thing it is.  Now I can choose from rides in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.  There are a number of difficulty levels, from Easy to Extreme.  I can tell you right now, my legs would never survive an Extreme ride.

I should finish the painting in the kitchen today.

Yesterday, while I was making Chicken Marsala for dinner, I glanced up at my kitchen ceiling and saw a spot.  At least, I thought I was looking at a spot.  Of course, the first thing to go through my head was that the plumbers had failed and I still had a leak.  That would truly piss me off.  So, getting my small ladder, I got a closer look and discovered it wasn't a leak, but rather a small lump of thin-set from my tiling adventure. I was so relieved that all I had to do was scrap it off with my fingernail.

And then there's this:

Except except several interesting things are happening.  Firstly, you have to keep in mind that America is going through the Great de-churching.  Every year hundreds of thousands of Americans decide that Church is not the answer, and stop going, and it's not only the mainline denominations, it's everywhere.  Secondly, those who stop going cite a number of reasons for their change of mind, the politicization of Christianity is a big one.  The NYT had an interesting article on whether the Evangelicals from Iowa are on the Trump train or not.  Some are for Trump, others for DeSantis.  Trump puts out an ad saying he was sent by God, and that he ends every week by going to church (can you hear me laughing), while Ronnie D says that if he had been living in the time of Jesus, he could have been a disciple.  I find it amusing that these people don't care that they're driving people away from the church, as long as they get that hardcore Christian base to vote for them.  Could the United States end up seeing a war in which Christians fight Christians?  You bet!  And all because Conservatives believed that Culture Wars were the best way for them to win elections.

Epic

 Good Morning.

The Cyclone Bomb, i.e. Nor'easter brushed us yesterday.  Not a lot of rain here.  But wind?  Yes, with some fairly strong gusts.  If the temperatures were colder, this would ripping the leaves from the trees.  The wind's supposed to die down today.  I don't really care since I'm scheduled for an 8 hour shift at the store.  Though from my point of view, the wind is good because my leaves blow across the street into my neighbor's yard.

I went to see "Dune" last evening.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  When buying my ticket, I told the guy at the concession stand that I had read the book over 45 years ago and received a blank stare.  He told me he'd seen it and thought it was fine.  Translation: there was serious narrative in between the action sequences in which the dialogue is important.  Words have meaning.  Their purpose is to move the story forward rather than loosely set the scene for the next car chase / fight scene between the good guys and the villains.   This film is epic.

I saw where Loser #45 lost another skirmish in trying to get his Twitter account back on line.  Good.

Also, that dumb ass fascist Mo Brooks has said he, himself, was not involved in any of the meetings with the insurrectionists though some of his staff may have been in attendance.  This is one of those phony confessions where he, like so many other failed Republicans, is put the blame on someone else.  They all do it when they're caught.  Why are Conservatives so spineless?

Bomb This

For those who missed it, the Idiot Jerk in the White House shat a big one yesterday, all steamy and runny, right in the faces of all those Alt-Right, Make America Great supporters who put him into the Oval Office.  He claims their messiah, Steve Bannon, has "lost his mind."  A majority of Americans already knew that, so give me a break, but not those decrepit members who used to call themselves "The Tea Party."  They Love Steve.  They hate old school Republicans like Mitch McTurtle; they are the swamp the Idiot Jerk was going to drain.  And those old school Republicans?  They totally fail to understand the number of voters the Alt-Right messiah brought to the polls, but then they've never really had a strong grasp on reality.  They are too busy running around, patting themselves on the back and laughing "we're in charge, we're in charge."  You would think they would understand that they're going to need to fund the government and their Idiot Jerk leader has just alienated a large percentage of their voting block.  Dumb Shits.
There was also that funny bit about Paul Manafort's attorneys filing some sort of bogus lawsuit claiming Mueller and the DOJ investigations were too broad... which made me laugh.  These bobos don't seem to realize that the investigation is narrowly focused on Manafort's being a traitorous scumbag.  This stinks of desperation.
And the Cyclone Bomb is upon us!!
Being far enough from the Eastern Seaboard to only get steady flurries, and light snow (thought we'll be getting the bitterly cold temps) I consider myself lucky.  Those farther east?  Can you say bombogenesis?  Sounds like something from "The Wrath of Khan," doesn't it?

Oh, wait, that was the Genesis Effect, though they did use a device, which might be construed as a bomb if you want to argue otherwise.  Either way. the bomb is here, both in the shit storm consuming the Idiot Jerk's administration, and the weather.
