Well it looks like we have a nice day on tap for Central PA. We have a 1% chance of rain. Our high temps today are predicted to be in the mid to upper 70s (F). I am scheduled to work, but that may change.
I did work yesterday and the day wasn't that bad as far as sales. I hit both my measure and my sales goal. The flooring department made plan for the week, the store didn't. C'est la vie. And I put on my old manager pants and had a brief discussion with an associate. The person has a fulltime job with the state and also works part-time at the store. She also must need money, because she volunteers to take shifts in other departments. Yesterday she took the shift of one of our aisle associates. We rarely see our aisle associates because they are busy pulling product down from the overhead and filling holes on our shelves, making our aisles shop-able for our customers. After punching in, she plopped herself down at one of the computers in the flooring department and started putzing around. After about 15 minutes I politely told her that she needed to be working in the aisles, since that was the shift she volunteered to take. After about 5 minutes of complaining, she left the flooring desk to spend the rest of her 8 hour shift working in the aisles. Why did I tell her to do her job? She has worked in the department before and has a bad habit of basically gluing her ass to the chair in front of the computer. She doesn't get up and talk to customers, she just sits there, and yesterday that wasn't going to happen.
As I've said before, I've been listening to Bastille while writing The Body in 4/4 Time. Different music has helped different books in a multitude of ways. This group is helping bridge the almost half century gap between Grantham Pass, a group similar to The Eagles, and 2025, and even though the music has changed greatly, murder hasn't.
And yesterday was quiet in so many ways. Orangie rode around in his golf cart on Saturday with Roger Clemens and then talked about tweeted about it. Who's Roger Clemens? He used to be a baseball pitcher who's rocket fast delivery who supposedly used performance enhancing drugs. In other words his pitch was fast because he was using steroids, or, to put it in the vernacular, he cheated. Because he cheated, Roger is not getting into the baseball Hall of Fame. Being a cheat himself, this pisses Orangie off a lot, which is why Orangie has taken up Roger's case. This is just another example of how Orangie celebrates criminals.
Videos of Orangie that were taken on Saturday reveal he now has bruising on the back of both of his hands, so I don't doubt in the least that he, too, is now on some performance enhancing drugs.
Perhaps overusing those tiny hands on his social media screeds. Or daily infusions of embalming fluid. Weekend at Bernie’s ring a bell?
