I woke up this morning to the sound of a steady, soaking rain quietly tap dancing on the roof above my head and lay there in bed for a few moments asking myself, "was rain in the forecast?" I remember there being a 50/50 chance of showers. Checking Accuweather, I see that % has now changed. We're up to 95% chance of rain. Temp wise we're in the upper 60s (F). The cloud cover and rain will most likely keep today cool.
Today's weather does not portend a good day for home improvement retail, and I will at the store for a full shift. Because I'll be at the store for the entire day, I'm taking my lunch. Chicken and asparagus are roasting in the oven as I type. The asparagus cost me $4.57 and the chicken is 1/2 of a chicken breast I cut into pieces. I figure that my total cost, including the natural gas I'm heating the oven with, will be around $6.50. This is something I think about regularly, especially when I see my fellow associates ordering something through Door Dash, or Grubhub costing them between $14 and $16. Convenience has made so many people lazy. To be honest, however, my cost will be going up because the asparagus is imported from Peru.
This past week was a long week for me as far as working goes: 22 hours. This was because someone was on vacation. That person return on Tuesday, so I'll be back to my normal 17 hours of sitting at the flooring desk chatting up the occasional customer. A friend of mine will be retiring next week and she's decided to take up dog sitting as a way of keeping herself busy. She'd had a golden retriever named Max (of all names) who died a few months back at the ripe old age of 15. This is a good way for her to fill in that hole. It's also good news for me when I decide to take my next trip.
And, of course, a lot of people have been talking about Orangie's health ever since he foisted his face once again on national TV in order to feed his ego.
I saw a couple of videos of his incoherent rambling and am continually amazed that they let him speak.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that most of his cultists get their propaganda on Fox Entertainment, which edits them out.
DeleteWell, we can only Hope that his cognitive and physical decline is rapid enuf to take him out of Office early. Yet, who waits in the wings I wonder, since, some in the Shadows have always been quite suspect as the actual orchestrators of this Fuckery, he's just not smart enuf, but he has stoke all that Social Status Anxiety of the MAGAts, so much so they'd give up Democracy to try to regain what they Imagine they've 'Lost' and been 'replaced' with. *Huge Eye Roll, since all Subgroups are suspects to them: Minorities, Immigrants, Women, LGBTQ Community, Foreigners*
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately those who wait in the wings have anchored themselves to Trump and when he goes to Hell, he's going to take them all along with him.
DeleteThe makeup on his hands and very swollen ankles are not a good sign. Heart disease, kidney disease or circulatory problems are being speculated. Doctors can only do so much. You just know if he dies they’ll be having state funerals in Florida, New York and DC, it will never end. Vance may very well be prez before he knows it. Imagine all the work that will have to be done to repair all the damage of Trump and company.

I would not be surprised if the GOP begins fast-tracking some of his agenda, because once he's gone, there's a very good possibility everything will fall apart.
DeleteWhen I had to buy my ex out of this house I really knuckled down on the "take your own lunch to work" too and just like you I was amazed to see how much my colleagues spent in a day on things they could easily bring from home. I took in my breakfast, lunch tea and coffee and rarely ate out so I'm convinced that helped go a long way to paying off a 17 year mortgage in 10 years. I remember years ago my ex spending around 500 Swiss francs a month on lunches etc. (that's probably about $600 now) only to say how crap it was. Or another way of looking at it - hey that'll pay for my next vacation too!
ReplyDeleteOccasionally I'll buy a snack from one of the machines, but I can get 3 lunches from one meal that I cook. Those are savings you can't ignore.
