Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Trump joins the cast of The Walking Dead

I woke up this morning to the sound of a steady, soaking rain quietly tap dancing on the roof above my head and lay there in bed for a few moments asking myself, "was rain in the forecast?"  I remember there being a 50/50 chance of showers.  Checking Accuweather, I see that % has now changed.  We're up to 95% chance of rain.  Temp wise we're in the upper 60s (F).  The cloud cover and rain will most likely keep today cool.

Today's weather does not portend a good day for home improvement retail, and I will at the store for a full shift.  Because I'll be at the store for the entire day, I'm taking my lunch.  Chicken and asparagus are roasting in the oven as I type.  The asparagus cost me $4.57 and the chicken is 1/2 of a chicken breast I cut into pieces.  I figure that my total cost, including the natural gas I'm heating the oven with, will be around $6.50.  This is something I think about regularly, especially when I see my fellow associates ordering something through Door Dash, or Grubhub costing them between $14 and $16.  Convenience has made so many people lazy.  To be honest, however, my cost will be going up because the asparagus is imported from Peru.

This past week was a long week for me as far as working goes: 22 hours.  This was because someone was on vacation.  That person return on Tuesday, so I'll be back to my normal 17 hours of sitting at the flooring desk chatting up the occasional customer.  A friend of mine will be retiring next week and she's decided to take up dog sitting as a way of keeping herself busy.  She'd had a golden retriever named Max (of all names) who died a few months back at the ripe old age of 15.  This is a good way for her to fill in that hole.  It's also good news for me when I decide to take my next trip.

And, of course, a lot of people have been talking about Orangie's health ever since he foisted his face once again on national TV in order to feed his ego.

When I first saw it I thought, wow, he forget to put on his orange makeup, but then I looked at his hands and thought, wow, his orange makeup is barely keeping him from looking deathly white.  So, how pale is the orange schlock?  Take a look at his hands.  This is also the ego driven press conference where people noticed the thick smearing of makeup on the back of his right hand, the one he has covered with his left hand.  So, the question everybody is asking is "how sick is he?"  "At death's door?"  Unfortunately, he has the best medical care in the world.  His doctors are good enough to keep a cadaver walking if need be.  Purportedly, he is going to be golfing today, but again that needs to taken with a grain of salt.  Here lately what passes for him playing golf is driving to a spot where one of his caddies drops a ball, he gets out of the cart and takes a swing, then get  back in the cart to be driven to another spot where the caddy will once again drop a ball.  In truth, this might actually be a new episode of The Walking Dead.

The Donny and Elonia Show

It's Thursday.  Outside temps are in the mid 30s (F), and they're predicted to rise in to the lower to mid 40s (F).  Tomorrow night they're calling for snow.   Not much, a bit, possibly half an inch.  A little more than we had last time.  Some people are all excited.  Honestly, it doesn't phase me one way or the other.  I don't mind shoveling snow, for those of you who don't know, snow Nature's way of giving us all free cardio!

Yesterday was a fairly good day.  I moved onto the second Greek lesson while I putting in almost 2 miles on the treadmill.  Since this was the first time for this chapter, most of it went over my head.  I'm going to need to go in and do the flashcard that are part of the course.  I usually write them down, since the written word is very important.

I also had lunch with 2 friends I haven't seen in about 10 years.  Our conversation was lively; we share a keen interest on a number of subjects.  Conversing has always been one of the joys of my life... probably because I'm a "talker."  Being able to converse with intelligent people who can opine without opinionating is simply wonderful.

Oh, and I finished The Body in History last evening.  This morning I want to print off those chapters not already printed and begin the rewrite.  Do I always work off of a hard copy?  The answers are yes and no.  I like the ability to pick up the manuscript and make notes, but I also enjoy the convenience of sitting at my writing laptop recreating my original vision.  The final draft is always a combination of both.

For those living under a rock, Elonia shot down the government spending package that was designed to insure our men in the military would continue to get paychecks, at least until March.  Sorry, Elonia is not First Lady yet, and needs to be put in her place.  Main Stream Media is reporting that Trump shot it down at the urging of his allies.  I wonder if they're afraid of putting blame where it belongs.  One of the reasons it was shot down was because Elonia wants another tax break, that's the only reason he Trump wants the debt ceiling raised.  For those dense Conservatives out there, the government has not paid for Elonia's last tax break.  And it's not as though Elonia cares, none of the billionaires the Orange Anus wants in his cabinet care.  America is growing more and more angry, except for that minority group who desperately want to worship Orangey, not that either he or Elonia understand that.  They are of the mind, like every Conservative out there, that all they have to do is yell "shut up!  I'm in Charge!" and America will just roll over.  Sorry guys, it ain't gonna happen.

Breaking out of the rut

Well, we've got overcast skies here again this morning.  Temps are supposed hit the low 90s (F).which means our cooling off period is over.  The heat index is suppose to be maxing out Monday and Tuesday as the heat Mr. Shife has been dealing with moves over us.  If the forecast holds, Tuesday we should hit 101 (F).  It hasn't been that stinky hot in years.

Tuesday I'm scheduled to meet my cousin and her husband for lunch.  We've turned this into a 3 month ritual and it's a lot of fun.  We do reminisce, but we also talk about what's going on in our lives.  One of their grand kids is a good enough swimmer to get a scholarship and dreams of going to the Olympics someday.  I find that fascinating.  When I was growing up, the focus was on getting a job, getting married, and having a family.  Competitive sports for a large majority of my class ended with graduation, and that was a nearly impossible rut to get out of, and while I didn't break out completely by joining the Navy, I did by going to college when I was discharged.

I'm going to a memorial service today for my neighbor Eileen.  She's the one whose will I signed and then later made ink changes to it, a legal no no.  I'm really neutral about the entire thing.

Just took a picture of my peaches.  This is what they look like.  There is not going to be an abundant crop, and they're growing much slower than they did in the past.  Two years ago I was harvesting them by now.

There are days when I feel comfortable about the approaching election and days when I don't.  We do have a lot of dumbasses in this country who, because of their lack of education, believe that an authoritarian government would work in their favor, that an authoritarian leader like Trump would sow benefits upon them.  Can you hear me laughing?  In the history of mankind, that has never, ever happened.  It's is those bumpkins who end up suffering the most, and their suffering goes hand in hand with their whining about how bad things are.  These are the same people who will get a job and will deride it constantly, but never take the initiative to go out and find a better job.  These are the voters Trump and the Republicans depend upon.  It's why they campaign against wokeness.  A dumb voter is always easier to manipulate.  They will never break out of the rut, that would take too much effort.

Biggie and the Spanish Guitar

Well, a happy Saturday morning to you all, unless, of course, you're in Australia, then it's a happy Sunday morning.

I get to go to work today.  As usual, I always brown bag it (take my own lunch).  Just call me frugal.  A number of those I work with order out using one of the delivery services, one my fellow associates loves Door Dash (someone has much more disposable income then I do).  Or, because there are a number of fast food restaurants within a 5 minute ride, they eat fat rich, sodium extravagant fast food.  My lunches are always home made and healthy, and always include fresh fruit.  Today desert is going to be blueberries and bananas.

For quite a long time, I would sit down and write in total silence.  That's been changing.  Music is now almost always in the background.  Sometimes classical, sometimes folk music.  Last night French folk music was playing, though most of the songs were about New France i.e. Canada and Quebec.  Lily could care less what's playing.  Biggie, on the other hand, seems to enjoy music.  The night before last Spanish guitar music was playing and this is what he did.  I almost didn't post this because the light reflections seem a bit garish.

Interestingly enough, that one specific school board in Texas which made headlines about needing apposing view of the holocaust has suddenly done a back flip.  These racists, and bigots, and white supremacists don't like to be scrutinized.

Another group of Cracker jack Crazy Conservatives that's soon to be list as a hate group is the Moms for Liberty.  This group of hate mongering women is trying to infiltrate school boards to upend curriculum they don't feel is Conservative enough.  That's right, it's another damn minority group trying to force their socially conservative beliefs onto the majority.  These women are ugly and hateful.  Keep them out of politics before they have a chance to spread their cancer.
