Yesterday was busy. My car passed the yearly state inspection. Since it's new, I would have been truly shocked if there would have been any problems. Many household chores were completed. I stopped by the store and bought another tomato cage, which I'm using on the cucumber plant, and while I was there I picked up an eggplant seedling. The only thing I didn't get accomplished was getting my haircut. I stopped in and the wait was over an hour. Need I say anything more?
In the afternoon, I got too a bicycle ride in Ireland. Nice.
I also went to see Backrooms. I liked it. The film is classified as horror and there are a few jump scares, but overall I'd say it was more tension driven. This is because you don't know what in Hell is going on. Backrooms is not for everybody. Two women sitting in front of us left about 3/4 of the way through the movie. I understand it does make some people feel very uncomfortable. There is a lot of lore online about the Backrooms, I looked at it afterwards and the history of company Async and what they've done helps. Backrooms is not undiscovered country, in fact I immediately picked up parallels with the SciFi classic Forbidden Planet, where the long extinct Krell built a giant machine to explore the Id.
So, there were elections for midterm candidates yesterday. Truthfully, there were no surprises... well, except for one. Orangie's endorsed candidate for governor in Iowa lost. This is a first for Orangie in the primaries, and I don't doubt repercussions are happening in his administration.
And right now people are beginning to wonder just where Orangie is. The last time he was seen in public was at a Cabinet Meeting on May 27, that was before his visit to Walter Reed for his 3rd physical since stupid voters put him back into the White House. As for the nightly shit posting on Truth Social that he's getting credit for? Is it actually him?
CBS is dead. I suspect that the Ellisons, the billionaire father and son duo who bought the network, thought they'd be able to turn it into Fox New Lite quietly. Now they know that ain't gonna happen. This is just one more example of how billionaires are simply unable to read the room. They have this belief that, like the kings of old, the people will simply bow down to them and allow to be put into servitude. They simply refuse to believe that being wealthy does not make them special. History is littered with the bodies of so many who believed exactly the same thing. I wonder if the Ellisons ever took into consideration just how much hate their takeover was going to generate. Probably not. After all, they are billionaires.
Firing Scott Pelley, a respected journalist, was not a smart move for CBS. I wonder how much fall-out, as in others leaving, will happen next.
ReplyDeleteCBS is indeed dead.
ReplyDeleteI hope Cankles follows suit.
Backrooms is genius. It used 4Chan internet lore to create existential dread and I'm here clapping. Also, The director is very young and also, Chiwetel??? Yes.
XOXO
