The Devil went down to Georgia

It's a bit chilly willy this morning, with the temp sitting around 28 (F).  There's some form of precipitation heading into the area tomorrow, which is a day off for me.  I'm not anticipating a lot of lawn work being done.

Yesterday was rather slow at work, this is normal.  Slowdown time.  Are installers are evidently booked through Christmas, so anyone trying to impress those friends and relatives foolish enough to visit over the holidays are out of luck... maybe in more ways then one.

Covid is breaking records all over the place... as predicted by the men of science.  Record infections, record hospitalizations, record deaths.  The White House Task Force released a statement saying we were in a dire time.  Okay, can someone tell me who exactly is running the White House Task Force?  Wasn't it supposed to be Mike Pence?  He's been awfully quiet here of late.  He must be sitting in some back room planning his 2024 campaign.  I know both Birx and Fauci have been talking to what Republicans call the Lame Stream media, but I suspect their orbits are too far outside that of the Idiot Jerk in the White House to hold any weight with his crumbling government.

And I guess the Idiot Jerk in the White House released some sort of 46 minute lie-a-thon video yesterday which I'm sure many of his base will cherish.  There's concern about his upcoming visit to Georgia.  Can anybody hear shades of Charlie Daniels?  People are worried it might incite violence.  Do you really think he'd care if people get hurt?  Nope.  Everyone, everything is expendable in his craven need to maintain his grip on power.  You see, in Russia this would work.  Not here.  Americans actually like their Democracy.

Oh, and Ivanka Danka was deposed yesterday.  I wonder how much of the money supposedly spent on the Idiot Jerk's inauguration ended up in her bank account.

Only 6 States

While some of you go back to work today, my weekend has just started.  Retail, you know?

I dealt with no radical customers yesterday.  That doesn't mean my day was hunky dory, twelve minutes before I was scheduled to leave I got called to work with a mother and daughter purchasing new blinds... for a house.  Seventeen altogether.  People don't understand windows are not uniform in size.  I had to 13 blinds.  They were both very pleasant, not at all demanding, but instead of leaving work at 4:30 PM I left at 5:30 PM.  Being a creature of habit, that eliminated the possibility of a bike ride last evening.

Rain was in the forecast for today... we got it last evening so I should have nice sunny weather.  The lawn doesn't need to be mowed because with no rain it is now a nice tawny brown color.  This is summer.

The released some new way of calculating the age of your dogs.  Using this formula, Lily is about 62.  In a year or so she'll be older than me and I'll have to start calling her an old lady.  Biggie is about 58.  There are times when he acts like he's 80.  

I saw where Florida hit a record on Saturday.  This was to be expected.  And as also was to be expected, the administration is trying to discredit Fauci.  This is a standard practice for conservatives.  They hate science since it asks questions they don't want asked, and gives them the wrong answers to the questions they do ask.  They are the party of the Idiot Jerk in the White House whose only goal is to dictate and control.

There is an interesting opinion piece in The Hill this morning by Judd Gregg, a former Republican governor of New Hampshire.  He is terribly concerned the Republicans are going to lose the Senate.  He references Barry Goldwater, who lost to Lyndon Johnson by a landslide.  Gregg is thinking the GOP may lose 6 - 8 Senators because of their alignment with the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  His words are meant to grab them by their shoulders and shake the shit out of them.  Will they listen?  Hell no.  On their own they are a spineless mob, standing is difficult enough for them, walking away from the Idiot Jerk is impossible.  He is their crutch.  For those who are too young to know, Barry Goldwater only carried 6 states in the General Election.  If this turns out to be a replay of 1964, which 6 states do you think will swear loyalty to the Idiot Jerk in the White House?

His own Worst Enemy

So, I see it's Wednesday.  I am very pleased to report I accomplished a lot yesterday, my goals were met.  Ain't that a nice thing to say.  Hell, I even finished all of my laundry for the week.  I dug up all of the old tulip bulbs and planted gladiolas, as I said yesterday - the pastel mixture.  I need to mow the lawn today and wack the weeds.  Fun stuff!
I also got my 'mail in ballot' yesterday.  If you have the ability to mail in your ballot, do it.  Can we talk about convenience here?  How often have you gone to vote and discovered names on the ballot you didn't recognize?  With a mail in ballot, you can sit down at your computer and take a few minutes to discover who those people are, people who don't have large campaign funds, candidates who might better suit your own beliefs.  My ballot is getting mailed on my way to Giant this morning.
Biggie has an inter-digital cyst between 2 of his toes. It doesn't seem to bother him, but I don't want to take any chances.  We all know how expensive visits to the Veterinarian can be so I Googled 'treatment.'  The first thing I learned was that they're not really cysts, rather they're inflamed blood vessels.  Treatments abound, including soaking the paw in Epsom Salts for ten minutes twice a day...  That had me laughing.  Can you imagine Biggie soaking his foot?  He weighs 118 pounds.  Soaking is not an option.  However, the most popular remedy I saw was... are you ready for it?  Preparation H.  I guess if it can reduce the size of hemorrhoids it can reduce the size of inflamed blood vessels between the toes.
Oh, and I made pork fried rice last evening.  It was delish.

Of course, Fauci talked to the Republican Senate yesterday... only Republicans, because they thought they could control his responses.  They failed.  People trust him, they don't trust the Republican Senate.  They've spread their legs too often for the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  Speaking of the Idiot Jerk, more and more we are hearing how this pandemic is frazzling him.  Not that he's concerned about people dying... not in the least.  However, he needs to wallow in praise and glory and that's not happening.  In fact, just the opposite is taking place.  His lies are not only being questioned daily, they're being turned into rapier sharp headlines that stick deeply into his leathery hide and hang there like scabs.  People complain Biden isn't attacking the Idiot Jerk... they don't understand this Idiot President is his own worst enemy.

Under-performance by and Idiot Jerk

Well, it's Sunday and I get to go to work.  In just a few hours I will find out if I'm going to be wearing a mask.  I have one hear at the house, but I'm saving it for special occasions, like when I go to the supermarket.  I don't have any snazzy handkerchiefs I can turn into face masks.  If I get really desperate I can pull an old T-shirt up over my nose.
Yesterday I mowed my front lawn for the first time this year.  It needed it.  My mower's battery powered so there was no need to go fill up the gas can.
I also baked bread, again.

Of course, you've have to be in a coma to not understand the reason the Idiot Jerk in the White House uses his daily updates as a campaign platform.  Normally, this would lead to a surge in his approval ratings.  Remember George W after 9/11?  His approval went through the roof.  I knew, when I saw him standing on the ruins of the Twin Towers there was no way he wasn't going to get re-elected.  That was W's presidential moment.  That hasn't happened for the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  People tune in to his briefings for 2 reasons:  Birx and Fauci, the only 2 people on that stage who don't lie.  Who is it that people are paying attention to?  Governors and Mayors across the country who give daily updates have approval ratings that are soaring. Those who side with the administration are not doing nearly as well.  The governors of Florida and Georgia?  Not so good.  And not so for the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  He got an itty bitty bump.  That's it.  And that little bump is already fading away. 
And the Washington Post had this really snarky piece on Jared Kushner.  This guy should be flipping burgers at some seedy, greasy spoon, not standing at the podium in the press briefing room.  After the next election, I'm certain he will self-quarantine on some little island where he can grow grapes and raise chickens.
