Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Celebrate This

Well, we're under a flood watch.  A very serious storm moved through the area late yesterday afternoon.  As I type, over 100,000 people in Central PA are without power.  White outs usually happen during blizzards.  We had one late yesterday afternoon, while I was working.  My phone was vibrating constantly with the warning:  "Lightning strikes in your area.  Lightning strikes in your area."  And there were booms just before the power went out.  Our registers kept working, but all over computers in the store were offline.  And this was before the white out.  I did walk front to take a picture.  This was before the porta-potties blew across the parking lot.

Retail was slow yesterday.  We might be busy today.  Storm damage will need to be cleaned up.  And more storms are on the way for this evening.

Otherwise, the holiday was boring.  I was working in the paint department. It was busier than the flooring department.

And they had storms down in Washington, too.  Bad storms.  They evacuated the crowd that had gathered to watch the fireworks and listen to Orange rant and rave. Then they had to go through security again to get back in, so many just went home.  Because most of his cultists are... lacking in scientific knowledge, many blamed the Democrats for the storm.

As for his great fireworks display.  It's best describe as an image of the Ukraine bombing Moscow.  My, that is a lot of smoke, the only thing missing are the mirrors.

And, as expected, he fell asleep again.

2023 - The Year the Republican Party goes Super Nova

Hello 2023.

My first load of laundry, sweat pants, is on spin dry in the new washer.  Nothing really changes, except for the last digit of the year.  Out with the 2 and in with the 3.

Nothing changes.  Well, one thing did.  Because my neighbor died, I didn't have to listen to him shrieking Woo Hoo! as he set of a firework every 3 - 4 minutes.  Let me tell you, that gets annoying fast.  The neighborhood was quiet last night.

There will be no traditional PA Dutch pork and sauerkraut today.  I work.  There is a pork loin in the crock pot just in case.  Normally they provide some sort of meal for those working, but we have new assistant managers and so far they've been dropping the ball.  This doesn't mean they're not going to order in pizza with ham and pineapple, I just want to be prepared.

And what's in store for 2023?  Sunshine and shadows.

Luckily, many of us are going to be on the bright side of the light.  Siding with Brian Tyler-Cohen, the Right side has already begun to implode.  Their Super Nova will begin after they seat George Santos, because he's going to be arrested.  Not only will fingers be pointed and threats will be made.  And then the indictments will begin to fall.  The MAGA cult will take to the streets in protest.  The only thing missing, at first, will be Kristi Noem and her flamethrower.  Don't worry, she and every other self-serving Republican in Congress will try and torch anything and everything connecting them to The Former Guy.

Sometimes, I almost think this whole thing has been pre-ordained, so sit back and enjoy the entertainment.

Happy Fourth of July!

The downer side of this holiday is that I work.  Why?  Because there are people out there who believe the best time to get a deal is on a National Holiday.  The calls began a few days ago:  What carpets are going to be on sale? (none)  Is laminate going to be on sale? (no)  What deals are you going to be offering on blinds? (none)  On the bright side, management is going to grill burgers and hot dogs for us.  Free food is always nice.
On the bigger down sided... there's going to be a MAGA rally on the Mall in Washington.  The Idiot Jerk says it's not political yet lots of tickets were sent to groups who love to grovel in front of him... the white men in red hats.  No tickets were sent to the Democratic Party, nor to Independent organizations... only Republican...  Oops.  Can we talk about putting ringers in the audience.  And, speaking of the audience, there is evidently some serious concern about the size... or lack there of; a majority of people just don't like this Moral Degenerate.  Of course we all know size is unimportant.  He will claim the crowd was "massive! the largest crowd in American history" because he's a lying sack of shit.
Anyway, we need to look on the bright side, this is 2019.  We will only have to endure one more 4th of July with the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  Two years from now is fat, orange ass is going to be grilled as his bank accounts get sucked dry by lawsuit, after lawsuit, after lawsuit.  Until then sit back this evening and watch the fireworks displays from New York, or San Francisco, or Chicago, or... well, any city other than Washington.  I mean, if you wanted to see fireworks up close you could always drive up to Brooklyn where this guy was.

I laughed really hard when he started yelling "Holy Shit!" and will admit that maybe this was a little to close.

Air Ball time

We had torrential rains yesterday afternoon, with showers continuing until late in the evening.  Fireworks displays still went off - mid week holiday.  The store was not super busy.  I left a bit early and customers were sparse.  They were there, however.  Now, isn't that something you all want to do?  Go shopping on a holiday?
After talking to the cycle shop, I've decided to take care of my crank... myself.  Who better to take care of my own crank?  Besides, I would have been put on a waiting list.  Seems as though a lot of people are having bike repairs done.  Replacing a crank is a fairly simple procedure.  I told a friend of mine.  He thought about it for a couple of seconds and then nodded.  "If you can do it yourself, why pay someone else?"  This also melds well with my philosophy.  Never stop learning, never stop doing.
I was going to use the new battery powered lawnmower today but... we're supposed to have on and off showers all day - with thunderstorms this evening.  Humid and hot.
And while I'm typing this, the dogs are playing downstairs... with a Frisbee, in the house.  Tug of War.  They bite and pull.  They seem to be having a really good time.
And what about  Representative Jim Jordan (of Freedom Caucus fame) and and the allegations he ignored sexual misconduct as a wrestling coach at Ohio State University?  He is rebutting them, however, you have to remember he's a Conservative, and conservatives are all about being in charge.  If the wrestlers were winning matches, he would have turned a blind eye.  If they were losing, he would have turned a blind eye.  Ignoring the abuse would have been easy for him since the sexual misconduct would not have impacted him personally.  Like a pig in shit, he was more than satisfied to be called "coach." The only way he would have paid attention would have been if someone had said "Holy Shit, Jim, this is going to effect your career."  Lip service is easy as long as he is in control.
Finally, the tariffs start kicking in tomorrow.  The Idiot Jerk is heading into the batters box.  He thinks this is going to be an easy 'slow pitch' at bat.  He has no idea what is coming.  The first pitch is going to be a slider that's going to burn the leather off of the catcher's glove.

Yo, baby, it's air ball time.
