Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Coal for Everybody!

I guess there are a number of you who are sleeping in this morning because the day just happens to be named Sunday.  Not me.  For me, the days of the week are only identifiers for when I have to work, like I work on Sunday, but am off on Monday and Tuesday.  They might as well be colors for all their value.  I get to work on Orange, but than I'm off Red on Yellow.  Imagine how colorful our calendars would be if we substituted red, and yellow, and orange, and blue, and green instead of day names.  The Idiot Jerk in the White House would hate a calendar with colors rather than day names.  Can't you hear him "why is every day black?  Why is every day Black!?"
Yesterday was a slow day at the store...  It took a long time, but the great orange home retailer I work for finally realized we are not a Christmas store.  We do sell the obligatory tools husbands, and brothers, and sons, and fathers use, but most of these gifts fail to kick in that gleeful rush of adrenaline when they are unwrapped.  Finding a shop vac nestled under the tree creates a lot less excitement then say... oh, a ring, or tickets to Hawaii, or maybe even a puppy or a kitty cat.
Speaking of presents, some of the dog toys Big Seig and Lily are getting for Christmas arrived yesterday.  The bestest is a 6 foot green and yellow snake with 12 squeakers.

Just call me crazy.
Oh, and John Kelly is leaving the Administration and some guy name Nick Ayers is taking his place. Ayers is evidently a Pence lackey who lacks organizational skills.  Of course, he isn't there to keep things in order, he's there to suck up as much dirt on the Idiot Jerk as possible.  Pence is going to need as much ammunition as possible when he runs for president in 2020.  He doesn't seem to understand that when the Idiot Jerk goes, he goes too.
And in case you're wondering, there is a bright spot.  The West Virginia coal industry is going to make a killing this year thanks to the Republican  party.  No 6 foot green and yellow snakes with squeakers for the Idiot Jerk in the White House, just lumps of coal.  In fact, he's probably going to start using that at his rallies.  "Coal for Everybody!  Coal for Everybody!"

Dig this

Well, yesterday was different.  I finished my yard work, rode the bike (steep hills 7.7% grade) and did some laundry.  My washer and dryer are down in the basement.  So, I'm taking a load of shirts down and smell... sewage.  Not a good thing.  So I look around and towards the front of my basement I have a pool, about 1" deep and about 4 feet across... and it's not mine.  It seems my neighbor's caste iron pipe from the house to the sewer pipe has a crack.  Repairs are hopefully being done today.
This morning was a free weight workout.  For those interested, my workouts usually run at least an hour and involve dumbbells, 12, 15, 20, and 25 pounders.  Today I did 10 sets, or 30 reps, for a total weight of 6732 pounds.  I'm satisfied.
UGI is also digging up my street today.  Flagger Force is out.  The dogs are barking at all of them, telling them to go away.  They just repaved my street last year... and now there are going to be lumpy patches.  For almost 17 years nothing was done, and in the last 3 years we've had a new sewer line put in and now new and improved natural gas lines.... Oh, and today just happens to be garbage day so there's a vehicular cluster fuck going on.
And I'd like to give kudos to John Kelly in reference to his description of the the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  I've been saying all along, he's the Idiot Jerk.  Apparently John's been telling White House staff the same thing, over and over again.  And, of course, the Idiot Jerk is fuming.  He hates being called an Idiot even though he acts like one on a daily basis.
Of course, today I do have to work, which means I'm going to have to wend my way down Cumberland Road in the apposite direction. Yippee!

John Kelly - Auteur

While many think 'auteur' might solely be associated with film, citing a specific film style, the word can also be used with both music and literature, most often being used a little pretentiously and, in this case, may not be totally appropriate.  I mean, Kelly's speech certainly had the hallmarks, he being in total artistic control, however an article in the LA Times hones away some of those specific attributes.  I'll be honest, I was 'stunned' to find out this Four Star General fictionalized an encounter with Florida Congresswoman Wilson simply to attack her credibility.  How embarrassing that this distinguished gentleman tried to sully someone else's character with faulty recollections and phony innuendo in order to prop up the Idiot Jerk in the White House's ignoble attempt at condolences.  But then this was his own, personal foray into enemy territory; his endeavor to give the Idiot Jerk in the White House a smidgen of character failed, and unfortunately he ended up trivializing a moment of heartbreak by lying.  Evidently this is his new style, to foil by distraction and deceit.
Anyway, those on the right swallowed his speech spoon by spoon.  They love this stuff.  His words hearken back to a time they have dearly entrenched in their hearts.  They desperately long to go back to those times, when black people were butlers, or drivers, or maids in uniforms, or sang and danced in honky tonks, and brown people who speak Spanish were either hombres or sidekicks, or only came to town during harvest season.  Gay people either minced quietly in the background, or were over blown comic caricatures on the silver screen where they could be laughed at by people who had no problem with discrimination.  These are the people who love John Kelly's art.  The fact that he embodies a dying culture terrifies them and so they live for his words.  To them he is a success.
On a lighter note, I'm going to go see "Geostorm" this coming Wednesday.  You know, the new Gerard Butler movie?  Somehow, I don't think he's going to be wearing this costume since it's a CGI adventure.

But let's be perfectly honest here, I would rather pay to see Gerard Butler than freely listen to John Kelly's fake art any hour, of any day of the week.  One is honest about crafting his art, the other tries to artfully craft deceit into truth.
