Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

The Power of Love

Well, yesterday was quiet.  Today will hopefully be the same.  We had a bit of snow, easily shoveled.  My car was cleared off and ready to go... and I went no where.  No need.  Believe me, it's nice not to have a required destination point.

The weather today is supposed to be cold.  If the forecasters are right, we should top off at around 29 (F) which is below 0 for all you people using Celsius. Tomorrow, we're not supposed to expect warmer temps.  It's not until Sunday that our thermometer is going to once again rise to 40 (F).

By the way, Sunday, the day I return to the Specialist grind, is Valentines Day.  Translation:  there will be boodles of candy waiting for me at the store.  Candy can be good.  I don't buy it, so the only time comes my way is when someone else buys, or provides.

As for it being Valentines Day?  I am not now, nor have I ever been a romantic person.  For adults, valentines gifts between each other tend to be a prelude to a fun night between the sheets.  The need for some to celebrate that by having a 'special' day doesn't make sense, as if that were the only day in which you're allowed to show your feelings.

Anyway, the Kaiser Chiefs have released a cover of The Power of Love to celebrate this one day, which is, I suppose, their way of intimating they'd like to have sex with each and every one of you.

And I the Democrats wrapped up their Impeachment charges yesterday.  They warned the country our failed president might try again to steal an election, might incite a riot.  Their problem is that it wasn't just him, it's most of the Republican Party.  For them, Make America Great means Make America White.  They are trying to stop the forces of nature.  The world is changing.  America is changing.  They are desperately hanging on to the vestiges of a belief system which denies science.  They hate science.  They hate the fact that time will mute their voice eternally.  Even though many Republicans would love to screw you over, they, themselves, will never know The Power of Love.

This is how I Dance

Well, I'm off today and the temp is supposed to hit 94 (F).  I'm off tomorrow and their forecasting the same high temp.  Wednesday is not supposed to be as warm... but I work.
The only big things I need to do for today are... laundry and get the box spring out to the curb.  Tomorrow is garbage day and we're allowed one large item per week.
I rode over 12 miles yesterday and felt good afterwards. I've ridden 149.6 miles in July, easily hitting the Trek Cycling Challenge.  And I made a mistake when ordering the Legion Whey... I thought I was going to be getting the Strawberry / Banana but that flavor doesn't come in the size I wanted so what I actually ordered was the Chocolate / Peanut Butter.  Holy Shit! it's like drinking a healthy peanut butter cup!
I find it interesting that the Idiot Jerk in the White House and his team of racist sycophants have decided to make race one of the Big Ticket items for the 2020 election.  Their plan, no doubt, is to split the country in an attempt to get enough white supremacists to vote for him.  Be prepared.  He and Stevie Miller have much worse planned.
As some of you know, I'm a Kaiser Chief's fan.  Their first big hit quite a while back was a song called "Ruby."  They just released their new album "Duck."  There are a lot of good songs on it, but the one that's has my full attention right now is called "Wait," and it isn't because of the lines "checking out the boys, in their summer clothes."  Oh, in case you didn't know, they're a very socially conscious, friendly group.  Here's a not so good video of a live version:

And, in case anybody is wondering, this is how I dance, like a perky little lounge lizard, no swavey deboner moves for me.

The Dahlias are coming!

Well, it's Tuesday.  This is my last day off, tomorrow I go back to work.  I'm not excited.
My sister, brother and I are having breakfast this morning.  They're getting their copies of The Body in the Tower.  Yippee!
I do believe it rained most of the night.  My lawn's going to be too wet this afternoon to mow, and I'm not off again for 5 days... that's right, I get to work for 5 days before celebrating with 1 day off.  Then I work 5 more days.  This shitty schedule is my fault.  I did a request off believing the scheduler would be generous.  She wasn't.  Damn.
I saw this interesting tidbit from The Hill.  The Republican base truly is shrinking.  It looks like the Grand Old Part is really old... and white... and more than a little dumb, no doubt because of those silly red hats they wear.
I took a snap of some of my dahlias yesterday... in the drizzle.

There are more on the way.  Next year I think I'll put a bed of the out front among the roses.
And finally, Kaiser Chiefs are coming out with a new album on or around July 26.  The date is already on my calendar.  Here's the explicit version of their first release.

And, as always, the work continues.

Steal this

Lucky me, I'm getting a new Ipod Nano... well, only kind of lucky... well, actually not lucky at all.  You see I had a very nice silver Ipod, 32G, and it got a lot of use.  The operative word here is 'had.'  It was always in either one of two places: my car or on the Bose Ipod player in the living room.  Thursday, when I had my first day off in quite some time, I went to visit my Mom.  As is always the case, when I got in the car I turned on some tunes... or tried to.  I got an error message which notified me that the Ipod was not connected.  Not connected?  I opened up the cubby where it normally sits and... it was gone.  Vanished!  I thought "well, maybe I left it at home," though I was fairly sure this was not the case.  It wasn't.  At that point I pretty well knew what had happened, but I wasn't going to rush to any conclusions, so I did a search.  Everywhere.  I even went so far as to pull the sofa front, and check behind all the cushions, just to make sure one of the dogs hadn't thought they'd gotten a brand, new shiny toy.  No Ipod.

At that point certainty set in.

Shipping Monday

You see on Monday morning, when I went to work, I shoved the Ipod into my pocket to take out to the car, however, don't ask me why, I didn't leave it in the car.  In fact, I'd forgotten it was in my pocket until I was in the building.  No problem, I thought, I can leave it in my locker.  So I put it in my locker, putting it right at the front so I'd remember to take it with me.  Now my locker has lock but I never lock it because I never keep anything of value there, (you know where this is going, don't you?).  And at the end of the day, I threw my apron in my locker and went home, without the Ipod... because it was no longer there.  Now I know I should have locker my locker, but I'll be honest, it never occurred to me one of my fellow associates would be a thief.  And, since I do have a lock and it wasn't locked, I don't have any legal recourse.

My only option was to buy a new Ipod.  This one's a Nano, 7th generation, the case is space gray.

As for the old one, it has a lot of German stuff on it, and even more French stuff (M. Pokora), the last 4 Kaiser Chief albums, and a lot of Linkin Park.  Nothing Pop.  Nothing Top 10.  And nothing you can really dance to, well I might be able to but most people wouldn't.  Hopefully it will broadening someone's horizo
