Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Drama

Good morning, afternoon, or evening.  The good news for today is that the temps here in Central PA are supposed to top off in the mid to upper 40s (F).  This is so much better than those Christmas days when the temps bottomed out down near 0 (F).

I've been thinking lately that some of Biggie's midnight bathroom breaks have more to do with getting a biscuit rather than the pressure of a full bladder, more of a bad habit than anything else.  Last night I put my theory to the test.  A little over an hour after he was on the bed, I felt the weight change (he weighs 116 lbs.) and the ker-thump of his paws hitting the floor.  Instead of getting up, I just lay there.  About 20 minutes later, he got back on the bed and slept through the rest of the night without any problems.  I'm suspecting my theory is correct.

There are certain loud voices complaining about Babylon's failure at the box office, claiming that audiences are more interested in going to see a Marvel film rather than a good drama.  While these people are somewhat right, they're missing the point entirely.  It's very rare for audiences to flock to the movies to take in a good drama,.  With all of the freaking drama around us, why would anyone spend money to expose themselves to even more.  This has always been the case.  If you don't believe me, spend some time looking over box office grosses for dramas for the past 30 years.  Dramas are simply not popular.

And, speaking of movies, rather than waste time at Babylon, I went to see Avatar, The Way of the Water last evening.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The movie is filled with eye candy that's simply amazing at times.  The story's good, there's even drama between two different fathers and their sons.  There's even a bit of a Titanic moment.  Three hours and 20 odd minutes went by very fast.

And now, for the Drama.  Republicans were praying that the George Santos revelations, that he's a lying sack of shit, were going to go away.  They're getting worse.  His claim to being Jew-ish took a terrible turn yesterday when forms he sent to Jewish groups had him claiming to be a proud Jewish American, and this from a Catholic boy.  Even Tulsi Gabbard is questioning his integrity (stop laughing).  I'm guessing she knows how badly this is going to effect Republicans in the long run.

Evidently, on numerous occasions copies of confidential documents were made, and taken to the White House, and disbursed to members of the private sector.  People are wondering if these are the papers Mark Meadows was burning in his office fireplace.

Trump's taxes will be released to the public on Friday.

More drama to arrive this afternoon.

Winners and Losers

Wednesday, and I'm feeling better than yesterday morning.  The congestion was gone by noon.  I'm thinking perhaps it might have been the result of my drywall contractor sanding down the seams in the kitchen.  Since there is dust everywhere, I figure that most likely there was some in my lungs.

Painting in the new laundry room is finished, (except for a few minor touch-up spots on the trim).  The valances are hung.  My deliver is between 7 - 11 AM this morning.  Home Depot lets you track your appliances.  I was the 3rd delivery scheduled, so I'm figuring the washer and the dryer should be here by around 10 AM.  After reading the instruction books thoroughly, I'm hoping to have the first load in by around 1 PM.

The only thing which might slow things down is the rain.  There's a shitload coming up from the south.  Temps are supposed to stay in the high 40s (F) to mid 50s (F).  I'm fine with that.

And what about our American Men's Soccer Team?  We beat Iran!  One of the many reasons this is important is that soccer is not our most favorite sport.  Baseball and football tie for that honor.  Our soccer teams rarely get the time of day from sports enthusiasts, until they beat Iran.  In Europe and the Middle East, football (soccer) is King.  Their fans have been not to riot when the lose.  People have died.  Their teams are considered truly elite.  While we have exceptional players on our teams, none of them is a quarterback, or a tight end, or a receiver.  And we beat Iran.  Let that sink in.  Thank you Chris Pulisic and the entire American Men's Soccer team.

The Senate passed the Defense of Marriage Act yesterday.  This is a good win, but not a great one.  States that do not recognize same sex or interracial couples will have to recognize those marriages if they are performed in a state which allows same sex or interracial marriages.  Eleven Republicans helped pass this groundbreaking bill.  This is a finger in the eye of those Cracker Jack Crazies who desperately want to use their mythology to define America.

Elmer Stuart Rhoades lost yesterday.  As one commenter put it, this was more embarrassing then shooting himself in his own eye.  Guilty of sedition.  A loss for Elmer is a win for America.

And Markie Meadows was another loser yesterday.  The South Carolina Supreme Court has ordered him to testify in front of the Atlanta grand jury investigating Trump's interference in their 2020 General Election.

Everyone of these losses makes Trump a bigger loser.  I don't know about you, but I'm just loving this shit.

Cancelled

Oh, my, it's Monday.  One would never know, would one?  I, for one, wouldn't.  Yesterday seemed like Monday most of the day.  Not a lot of news happened, perhaps that's why.  I usually start getting emails after the Sunday morning pundits have their shows and that didn't happen.  Nothing of importance must have been said.
I had a nice 10 mile ride in Flanders along the Ijzer Front 1914 -18.  I ride by World War I memorials and ancient German bunkers.  The entire ride is 30 miles long and is broken down into segments.  I've ridden bits and pieces before and every time I've done so I think about the poem In Flanders Fields.

In Flanders fields the poppies grow,
between the crosses, row by row

It's a somber little poem.  Here's the link if you'd like to read it in its entirety.  However, yesterday I rode through Flanders fields wearing my Taco socks.

If you look closely, you can see a bit of chain grease on my calf.  It's a habit I have, leaning into the chain.
I did see where Mark Meadows, a henchie for the Idiot Jerk in the White House was on... CNN possibly, saying that there was going to  be an election on November 3, and that the president was going to win.  Don't you find it interesting how the Idiot Jerk in the White House rails against fake news, but has no problem sending out his henchies to these networks to seed his lies?  I do.
And, finally, I saw an interesting opinion in The Hill his morning on how the Idiot Jerk's presidency has been more of a reality show than a presidency.  I liked the comparison between the Idiot Jerk and Paris Hilton, another reality personality who was cancelled, cancelled being the operative word.  The man has never been a politician, one of his many, many shortcomings.  Rather, he's more of a petulant 'B' actor who lucked into a starring roll in a show which exemplified his lack of qualifications.  This November, because of his shitty performance, America is going to fire him.  He's going to be cancelled.

How does my garden grow?

Spring officially arrives in 20 days.  Woohoo!  Not that there aren't already signs.  My daffodils by the back porch already have buds, and the Idiot Jerk in the White House thinks Donnie Jr has the worst judgment... Oh, wait!  That's not a sign of spring!  Well.... maybe...    When I read that yesterday I almost burst out laughing.  We normal people have known that for years, but now, thanks to Michael Cohen, the whole world knows it, including... Donnie Jr.  I can't even imagine the size of the brick little Donnie shit when he found out his old man pretty much thought of him as a dumb fuck.
Let's head back to spring, okay?  I have roses in my front yard, this year I thought I'd plant some oriental poppies and some vibrant sunflowers among them to jazz things up a bit.

You know what I'm talking about, like when Rashida Tlaib accused Mark Meadows, a white Republican from North Carolina of using Lynne Patton, a "friend' of the Idiot Jerk's family, as a prop to prove the Idiot Jerk was not racist.  My, what a colorful conversation that was, Meadows being called a racist using a racist stunt in a desperate attempt to prove the Idiot Jerk wasn't racist.  My, I'll bet his cheeks were burning, redder than the scarlet poppies I'll be growing next to my roses.
And, of course, those seeds of futility the Idiot Jerk had hoped to nurture into blooming deceit during his "summit" with Kim Dumb Chunk fell on fallow ground.  No flowers there.  Perhaps if he'd sent Donnie Jr in advance to spread a little manure, and maybe pop a few MAGA hats on some of the Vietnamese.  Nahhh.
Yesterday rattled the Republicans terribly.  Their worst nightmares are coming true.  The Idiot Jerk in the White House, who many believe God sent to fulfill their most craven dreams, is actually harvesting souls... for the other guy.  Today, Cohen is going to speak again, behind closed doors.  Today he's going to talk about the Idiot Jerk... and Russia.  After today, they will be shaking in their boots.  Today they will get an earful on the types of weeds the Idiot Jerk has planted and nurtured.  I can tell you, there isn't a poppy, or a rose, or a sunflower in his garden.
