Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Saturday Night

Well, it's cold out.  Not freezing cold, but cold enough for me to see my breath as I'm standing outside waiting for Howie to do his morning business.  Today is the last day for the chilliness, tomorrow starts a warm up which will again take up up into the 70s (F).  If the winter stays as warm as this autumn has been, it will be another cheap year as far as my heating bills.  I have no problem with that.

I didn't work yesterday.  Sadly, it turned out to be one of those... slow days.  I wrote.  I did some cleaning.  But mostly, I sat and scrolled through my phone looking for juicy bits that I found entertaining.

I do have to work this afternoon.  I'm not excited.  I changed my availability so I can only work Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday in the afternoon, and then 8 hours on Sunday.  I'm going to have to lose one of those afternoons. I now have a puppy that needs to be taken care of, and it's difficult to house train when I'm out of the house for 6 hours at a stretch.

Last night I went to see Saturday Night, a movie about the first night of Saturday Night Live, a TV show of skits, and musical acts that started 50 years ago.  I remember those shows.  I, along with millions of other people my age, glued ourselves to the TV every Saturday night for years laughing at the sometimes very absurd, usually adult humor.  I liked the movie a lot.  NBC did expect it to fail and was surprised when it became a big hit.  How original... live television every Saturday night.  The casting is good, most of the actors bear a resemblance to the original cast members.  The bits and pieces of the sketches they do in rehearsal are still very funny.  While it was nostalgic, most importantly, the movie gives the audience how complicated live television can be, and how talented those young people were in order to make it work so successfully.

And yesterday the Orange Anus had another really bad day.  He was in Chicago to interviewed about his economic policies and... failed in a very public manner.  There are so many snippets of his bad interview to watch.  I do believe he thought this was going to be nothing more than softball questions he could avoid and just bloviate about whatever he wanted.  That was not the case.  My favorite was when he was corrected after calling Governor Newsome,  new scum.  His reaction was to say, "you're the first person to correct me."  Now how big of an Ouch is that.  He was then scolded on air with, "Any CEO of a Fortune 500 company saying that would be terminated immediately."  I'm surprised none of you could hear me laughing.

Later yesterday evening he had a rally in... Wisconsin, I think, and it went poorly because his brain was still seething.  This is a man who, like the a large number of Republicans, is used to saying "Shut up, I'm in charge."  That is not happening.  His concepts of unformulated plans are being mocked by so many people.  As a result, last evening is standard word salad was run through a meat grinder in front of a live audience.  Does anyone know if that meltdown was televised?

Many, Many, Many

Thursday.  Another heat advisory.  Temps to climb into the upper 90s (F).  Humid.   Also, there is again the threat of possible, maybe heavy thunderstorms this afternoon.  My lawn is oh, so brown, as is everybody else's lawn.

There was a woman in the flooring department yesterday who said "we're buying a house."  She followed that up with "we're going to be putting in new carpet, but only in one room for now."  Then she and her granddaughter threw about 20 carpet samples into their cart.  I did question her trying to find out details, like closing date.  That's important since a lot of customers what the carpet installed before they move their furniture in... she, however, was vague.  So, she may be buying a house, or she may be wanting to buy a house.  Believe me, there are a lot of wanters who just want to pick up many, many, samples.

And, in spite of the fact that I worked yesterday, I did get much accomplished in those hours I spent at home, including a very sticky 2.5 mile walk at Adams Ricci.

There is much to be done today, as well, including the moving prep I need to do get the rooms ready for my new windows.  I was quite surprised yesterday when Amanda from Aspin Home Improvements texted me that windows were arriving today.  She wondered if they could install them on Friday, and I said sure, as long as the installation would be completed by 5 PM.  No problem, she texted back.  So, my new windows are being installed tomorrow.  That's one less thing I need to think about before Greece.

And I think this is quite apropos.

So, yesterday the Orange Anus was asked to participate in a discussion with the National Association of Black Journalists and he accepted.  He arrived on stage late and claimed it was because the NABJ had technical difficulties.  It turned out that the technical difficulties were his objections to fact checking.  When he did finally make it onto the stage, his appearance was cut short by his team because these journalists were having none of his shit.  Rachel Scott asked specific questions and Trump spewed lies, or as the WaPo said, "many, many falsehoods."  Let's be honest, if it weren't for his lies, he'd have nothing.

Then, later at a rally held in Harrisburg, a large screen over the stage had a picture of Kamala with the headline "America's first Indian Senator."  As someone said, this might please his cultists, but to many, many Independent voters this is bad.  If Independent voters were racists conservatives, they wouldn't be Independents, they'd be Republicans.  This is also a sign of the GOP's desperation.  If the only cards in their hand they have to play are the race and gender cards, their hand's poor and this is the only way they think they can keep from losing.

Freshly Baked

Well, this is my Friday, sort of, because I am off tomorrow, and then I'm off Sunday and Monday, in fact Sunday and Monday will be my weekend for the next 3 weeks.  Next week I'm only scheduled for 32 hours.  That's fine with me.  In a few weeks I'll be averaging between 24 and 30 hours a week, and I will be scheduled during my availability.

Yesterday was fairly slow.  The Temps were warm.  Kids are back in school, somewhat.  We always have a number of college kids who work for us during the summer, and their all leaving.  They become unessential during the fall.  Some will be missed, because they're good workers, others will not since they were only putting in hours to get a paycheck.

And Only Fans is going to let its adult content providers continue providing adult content.  I find it interesting they made headlines when they reversed their decision.  I wouldn't be surprised if those banks that were putting the thumb screws to the site realized just how much money they were going to start losing.  It's a real bitch when you might not make your projected 5% fiscal growth.

Baked another loaf of Italian bread this morning.

And, as was expected, the Sturgis Motorcycle rally has led to an unprecedented increase in Covid cases.  Over 1000% by most counts, which a local authority tried to play down by saying something like 'the percentage is so high because there are so few of us.'  Don't even try to find the logic in that statement.  One can only wonder how many of those motorcycle revelers have taken the virus home.  Now, isn't that a nice souvenir?  I can see the T-shirts now:  I went to Sturgis, and all I got was Covid.

The Un-Rally

It's Sunday, the first of 3 days off in a row for me... and I slept in.  This is becoming a bit of a habit on my first day off.  Not a bad habit, mind you, one that can be enjoyable... sleeping in, you know?
And what about the Idiot Jerk in the White House?  He chose to hold a rally an nobody came... well, some brain dead white supremacists and racists showed up, but the crowd he had been anticipating.  I'd post a picture or two of the half empty BOK Arena, but they're all over the place.  All those tickets his campaign gave out?  Snatched up by people, many of whom were teenagers, who wanted to ruin his night.  They succeeded quite stunningly.  Imagine throwing a big party, getting a lot of RSVP's, and then having nobody show up...  I mean, that's who showed up... the nobodies.  What a smack to his ego that must have been.  And there are lots of pictures so he can't lie.  Well... almost.  He said "bad things were happening outside, really bad things," and that's why the crowd was so small.  The Tulsa police reported a few minor protests, nothing more.  This is not how you get re-elected, by throwing an un-rally.  It is, however, how you look like Idiot Jerk.
I did run out this morning and take a picture of one of my roses, since we should all get to see something pretty today.

Erased

Tuesday, I get to go back to work.  The Go-Pro arrives today as well.  I checked the tracking, something I always do when I purchase things online.  I have to admit I'm a little excited.  What a shame I didn't have this a few years ago, back when the arthritis had paralyzed my right leg.  Then you could have seen cute little videos of me falling down the stairs, or off the back porch.  How cherish it would be to have one of me tottering through my Giant supermarket with my brother yelling in the background "hold on to the cart!  don't let go of the cart!"
I see where Baby Netanyahu's political career is dangling by a thread.  It is Baby, isn't it?  I mean, he is like the Israeli version of the Idiot Jerk in the White House so that would make sense.  I was trying to think back, wondering if there was ever a time when he wasn't corrupt.
Cokie Roberts passed away.  She was always such a bright spot on the Sunday morning news shows, intelligent with a dry sense of humor.  Give her the due she deserves.
And what about Elizabeth Warren?  Holy Crap!  Can we talk about rally's here?  Over 20,000 thousand strong.  In case you didn't know, that's almost as many people who showed up for the Idiot Jerk's inauguration!

Pictures like the one above must give him the burning runs... severely.  I'm surprised he didn't run around shrieking "fake news! fake news!  photoshopped pictures!"  Can you even begin to imagine what will happen if she wins the election?  They always have a meeting, you know?  The outgoing president sits down with the incoming president.  I wouldn't be surprised if he skips it.  The idea of being beaten down by a woman would be too great a blow to his ego.  Because you know she'd look him in the eye and say "everything you've done is going to be erased.  America is going to expunge you from the record books.  We are going to treat you and your party worse than you treated Obama."  And then, of course, she'd smile and say, "don't worry though, we're getting you a supersized orange coverall."

Interpretation Fallacies

Okay, so the Idiot from the White House was in Harrisburg last night.  He started to speak just as I was getting home from work.  I understand there were a lot of protesters there, or at least that's what a Conservative I work with was saying, and that "rioters should be locked up for 10 years."  When I told him protesting was one of our Constitutional Rights he just glowered at me.  Conservatives are high and mighty when it comes to the Constitution, as long as their interpretation is seen as the only possible interpretation.  They're as phony as the Evangelical Christians who see a Deity at work in everything that goes their way, but when things don't?  Well, there's evil in this world.  And they. alone, can decide what's good and evil, what's right and wrong, and their decisions are all based on their own interpretation.

Just looking at the picture above might lead one to interpret that there was quite a crowd, until you understand that at capacity, the New Holland Arena only holds 7318, or the local population.  The population of Harrisburg (the city) is around 80,000.  The population of Enola, the suburb I live in, which is 7 minutes from the New Holland Area, is around 6100 (as of 2010).  The population of Mechanicsburg, about 10 minutes from the Arena, is around 10,000.  In fact, once you start adding things up, the population within a 30 minute drive to the Arena is nearly 2 million.

And from all of those people, the Idiot in the White House managed to draw... how many, 5000?  Of course, we all know that their interpretation has always consisted of more lie than truth.  In fact, it's almost all lie.  I cannot even fathom the screwily twisted logic that goes in the Idiot's brain for him to him consider himself to be even remotely successful.

Trump's Hate Rally

Well, it's Thursday and yesterday revealed very little change coming out of Washington.  That's not to say news wasn't made.  A day doesn't pass without a couple of turds hitting the fan, what with all of the leaks.  Chaffetz and Goodlatte, 2 Republican chairs are calling for an investigation.  Right.  Maybe someone should tell these yokels that having a president who actually seemed... even slightly presidential, who sort of understood that giving a minority political group everything they wanted was a bad thing, might help to plug up some of the holes.  Nope.  Of course this was to be expected.  Republicans have never, ever acknowledged they were flawed, that their policies were out of touch with the majority of Americans.  And you can bet that isn't going to change any time soon, especially with this idiot president.  He's used to people backing down when he gets in their face.  "Yo, Idiot, it ain't happening!"  And things are only going to get worse.
I was reading an article in the LA Times and saw the Idiot in Chief is going to have a rally in Florida on Saturday.  They called it a re-election rally.  Odd, this gathering is going to have nothing to do with DT's re-election and everything to do with drumming up the dunderheads who voted for him.  The only thing on the agenda is "attack," anything and everything he feels obstructs.  He needs to put his supporters in a fighting mood.  Oh, and the whole things is also geared at boosting his ego.  All the negativity floating around him makes him look like a looser.  I would not be surprised if he goes off like a firecracker on Saturday.

Is it going to help him?  Absolutely not.  Every time he goes off point his approval rating drops, and this whole event is being planned for him to specifically go off point.  DT is seething.  Not only is he a very, very angry man, he is a very bad man.  He used his hate tactics to get himself elected, and he will have no problem in trying to turn the country against itself.  But then, that is what Russia wants, isn't it?
