Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Let the Deluge Come

The humidity is high - like I am living in a sponge.  Being not warm enough for the Central Air, and not cool enough for the heat, I'm relying on the ceiling fans to keep the air circulating.
Yesterday's ride was only 13.2 miles which is fine.  There was, however a problem with my Suunto Spartan.  While cycling indoors, the Spartan acts as both a timer and a heart rate monitor.  At the end of my ride I press one button to stop the timer and a 2nd to stop the ride.  That didn't happen.  Pressing the first button moved the Spartan into stopwatch mode.  The 'end ride' screen never came up.  Pressing 'end' button did nothing.  Of course I said "oh, Shit."  Plugging the watch into my computer, I ran a diagnostic and got ****error****error**** in bright red letters.  My only option was to do a reset.  All data in my watch would be erased.  No problem.  The only thing I lost was yesterday's ride, which was a bitch.  Sometimes things happen.  You deal with them and move on.
So yesterday was also the one year anniversary of Mueller's investigation.  The Idiot Jerk in the White House called the 'greatest witch hunt in history...' gee, and I thought the Benghazi hearings took that prize.  What's this moron going to do in November when the Liberals and the Centrists take back the House?  And, quite possibly the Senate?  You can bet for the next 6 months those radically conservative Republicans are going to be shoveling as much shit and fake news as they possibly can into the public arena.  And after the elections?  Prepare yourselves for a deluge of shrieking, and wailing, and rending of hair.  They will join their voices in a thunderous chorale of pure hatred as they find themselves hosed into the gutter.
Sometime today, the clouds are going to open up.  Rain is coming.  Supposedly heavy at times.  Enough inches to put us in a flood zone.  Of course, the GOP is already in a flood zone.  Get ready to watch them pull on their floaties.

This means business at the store will be slow.  That's to be expected anyway.  Our Memorial Day sale has already started, but the firework bargains don't start shooting off until Thursday.  Surprisingly, I'm off Thursday & Friday.  Optometrist appointment with the VA.

Bump Stock Scam

Wednesday, middle of the work week - well, kind of, I only work 4 days so I don't really have a hump day.  I got a little over 5 miles in on the bike this AM - in 20 minutes, I'm pleased with that, averaging about 15 mph.  I used my Fenex 3HR rather than the Suunto, which I tend to prefer for cycling indoors.  The Suunto uses an algorithm to calculate mileage which almost precisely matches the mileage I get from Rouvy.  For the Fenex to provide mileage, I'd need to invest in a 'cycling pod'.  Riding outside, both the Suunto and the Fenex do a great job using GPS to track mileage and speed.
My Mom's meds bill arrived yesterday and I have to call Trinity Pharmacy - there are 9 copay line items from 12/4 ($81).  I need to find out why they're billing me 2 months after the fact.  They will need to explain and provide backup as to why these charges weren't billed earlier.
Yesterday the son-in-law of a Russkie oligarch was charged and pleaded guilty in the Mueller probe, which is funny.  Seems to me as though they're prepping the Idiot Jerk's administration for one hell of a colonoscopy.  Maybe, when it comes to the Idiot Jerk, we should all start chanting "lock him up!, lock him up!"
Oh, and I see that the Idiot Jerk in the White House has said he would back a 'bump stock' ban.

I'm sure some people out there said, "my, isn't that nice, maybe he's coming to his senses."  Wrong.  Way back, after all those murders in Las Vegas, the NRA had actually... in their own way, green lighted the banning of bump stocks, most likely because they knew it would never make it through Congress.  The Idiot Jerk's comments amount to nothing more than a scam.  He's trying to sell a phony bill of goods.  He knows the NRA has bought enough Republican souls they have no worry about bump stocks being banned. But then, what more can you expect from the lying sack of shit in the White House.  Mueller can't move fast enough at flushing this turd.

Handsome is...

Well, it's Friday, and while many will post silly memes on Facebook about the end of their work week, as do millions and millions of other people, I get to work tomorrow.
How sad that Al's leaving.  One of our brightest, truest voices is throwing himself on his sword... well, kind of, since he did initiate some unwanted touchy, feely moments with women.  There is a price to pay, and he's paying it with dignity.  By doing so he is illuminating the phony Family Values of the Republicans, the Pussy Grabber, the Child  Predator, that moron Trent Frank from Arizona who wanted women from his office to be surrogate mothers since his wife has fertility issues... at least he says that it's his wife.  Hasn't Trent Frank ever heard of adoption?  Wait, that's right, he's a Family Value Republican so any children would need to come from his gene pool, right?  Dumb shit.  Anyway, Al's leaving office and my money says he's going to torch as many of those phony Family Values asswipes as possible.
I did 35 minutes on the elliptical this AM and felt great.  I'd post the results but there was a Garmin update to my phone and now I've got to re-establish the Bluetooth connection between it and my Fenix 3 HR.  Also, while I was waiting for my surgery, I purchased a Suunto Spartan Sports Watch, which is similar to the Fenix, except the stats it provides tend to be more detailed in a couple of areas.  The only problem I'm having with it is the location.  Even though I've set the thing up for Enola, PA, it seems to want to locate me in the 17th Arrondisement (Paris suburb), which would be nice if I wanted people to think I was working out in France.
And then there's Biggie.  Lily and he were chasing each other around downstairs with a purple squirrel, squeaking it at each other, and teasing each other with it's tail, for a long time this AM.  While she went to take a quick nap, I found him sitting in the computer, training, workout room.

Handsome dog, isn't he?  That's my gray computer chair to his left which will give you an indicator of just how big he is.

Sing this

Well, here it is... Wednesday and I get to go back to work after 15 days off.  Nice little vacation, eh?  Pretty much so, if you don't count that little surgery I had, and that's turning out to have been more of a nuisance than anything else.
Yesterday was fairly active:  While I didn't ride the bike, I did do 30 minutes on the elliptical, 1.2 miles, to the music of Eli Lieb.

I did do 20 minutes on the bike this AM but stopped when I realized the Kinetic app had failed to connect and I was recording nothing.  Well, I did get a new  Suunto Spartan and that recorded it, which was nice.
Yesterday I also talked to the Big Boy at my Mom's Senior Living Facility about the increase, and when I say Big, I mean Big - I'll bet that guy weighs in at around 380 to 400 pounds, he doesn't have rolls, he has waves.  Anyway, he was all apologetic, saying her increase was incorrect, and that I should throw out the letter I received because they were going to send me a new one.  Personally, I think most of his weight is bullshit, and that if you don't complain they don't reduce your rate.
Personally, I think John Conyers needs to resign.  If we want to point fingers, we need to point them at everybody, not just the Roy Moores and the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  Why look, little Matt Lauer got canned this AM - now who would have ever thought that he was the frisky type?  What people really seem to be forgetting is the power of hormones - they rule our lives, whether we want to admit to it or not, both men and women, neither is immune, and I'm not just talking about sex here, nor am I looking for an excuse for Roy Moore whose predatory behavior was designed by his extremely social conservative beliefs.  No, I'm talking about the daily ebb and flow of estrogen and testosterone.  Let's be honest, I'm sure there a number of both men and women who would like to initiate a private duet with Eli (above) whether he wants to sing with them or not.
And I thought this was an interesting poll.  I can see where they're headed.  Bernie sees it too, except he's way, way too old.  We need a Trudeau or a Macron in this country, one individual whom the majority can get behind and support, one person to lead the way.  Every one wants to lead the chorus and not one of them can carry a tune and until that happens chaos will reign.

Suunto vs Garmin as Idiocy increases.

So, I called Suunto to find out if their is compatible with the Galaxy S8 - their response was "no problem," in fact, after doing a just a little research it seems that only Garmin is having problems with connectivity, and those companies that had issues have corrected them already.  hhhm, is did I make a mistake and buy an expensive bauble for my wrist?  I guess the more important question is will I make an investment in a Sport Watch which actually does what it says it does?  I went with the Fenix 3 HR because of years of good experience with Garmin, however prior to my last Forerunner, I'd owned a Suunto Volcano, which did everything it promised.  The apps used by the Fenix need to be purchased, those by the Spartan don't.  The Spartan is hand made in Finland and I liked pickled herring.  Garmin's are American owned but manufactured in... China.  I can afford switching to Suunto, I'm just not wild about the color blue.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, the Idiot in the White House says he's going to let the ACA implode, or explode, or what verb happens to be sitting on the tip of his tongue.  This is funny, because neither of those 2 things is happening.  And evidently he had a more private tête-à-tête with his Crush Boy Vlad.  Scrumptious, right?  And without a translator - must have been talking the language of love... oh, wait, Melanoma was with them, wasn't she?  And she speaks Slovakian or Russian, or... well, what ever.
What makes the past  couple of days even lovelier is that rather than blame the Idiot in the White House for the healthcare failure, Conservatives are blaming their Republican Senators.  Delicious, right?  Grab your bibs and napkins, we're all about to witness a GOP Piranha Feeding Frenzy!

"Yo, Mitch!  They're looking at you bud with chompers on the ready!"

Suunto - almost great, but not quite

After the bad experience with Polar, I looked around, there were other HRM's available but nothing quite caught my fancy till I saw "The Volcano."  Suunto's red faced HRM looked like it would give me everything I wanted in an HRM.  The monitor, itself, was and still is one of the most comfortable I've ever worn; there was no heavy plastic involved.  The connection to the transmitter, however, was a bit on the flimsy side and I so I purchased a 2nd just in case I broke it - which I did.  My main difficulty was with all of the buttons, too many, and the sequence in which they needed to be pressed was cumbersome at first.  Even once I'd become familiar it was not unusual to press the wrong button.  This was also my first experience with wireless transmittal of data, which was super!

Look at all the pretty buttons

I'm not longer using "The Volcano" because about 4 months ago it began exhibiting software issues.  I started having problems getting into the main menu so I changed the battery (you can do that with the Suunto) to no avail.  We went to Standard Time and I was stuck in daylight savings time.  And then the readout started fading and since I'd recently changed the battery I new that was not the issue, so the Suunto was retired.
