Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

The Expanse, and other things

What can I say about yesterday besides work was slow.  I did have an elderly woman come in to buy carpet, she had purchased carpet and an install from us 9 years ago.  She was a little upset that we no longer carried that style anymore.  In fact, there were a number of things she had issues with including cost.  In 2013 she paid $1.33 a square foot, even back then that was fairly inexpensive carpet, and she was, again, looking at inexpensive carpets.  Since I can see the notes made by the specialists 9 years ago, I knew she had registered complaints about many things in order to drive down the cost.  Not wanting to have to deal with a repeat of these issues, I simply signed out sample boards, deciding I'd let someone else sell her the measure she needed for the install.

Last evening I watched the first 4 episodes of The Expanse.  This is the series last season and will only have 6 episodes.  As such, I was expecting them to be longer, which was not the case.  The longest barely topped 50 minutes.  In a few weeks I'll watch the last 2 episodes.

I received a Christmas card from a friend yesterday.  It's been years.  Since I stopped buying cards years ago.  My sister, however, gave me some nice stationary a long time ago so I'll jot down my 'thank yous' on some nice note paper and send it off.

Today, since I've planned nothing, I'll probably get around to baking those spice cookies.

Also, if the forecasters are correct, Central PA should be getting 3-6 inches of snow on Friday, another one of my days off.

And I don't know if this is true, but I thought I saw that Facebook has also shut down that bottled blond, Q Quack Pot, Marjorie Taylor something or other.  Good.  I'll bet that put her back on her knees in front of her favorite faux deity, The Orange Anus, praying for... well... something.  He's doing some sort of crazy shit on January 6, so I wouldn't be surprised if she shows up there.

Stuff

Good Morning!  Today's entry is made up of a variety of stuff mostly because this is my weekend, both Saturday and Sunday all wrapped up in one.  Today will be spent doing laundry, hanging a few bits of art upon the walls, and playing Valhalla.  Tomorrow it's back to work for another 5 days in a row.  Now, doesn't that sound simply wonderful?

We had a lot of rain yesterday, so heavy at times you could hear it pounding on the roof of the store and then, just before I left, the winds began blowing away the clouds.  Nice.  The Temps are cool now, and the breeziness is still here.

I watched the last episode this year's The Expanse last evening.  I thought the ending weak.  Most of the 10 episodes were building towards a war between the earthers and the belters... and that really didn't happen.  The proto-molecule was released (in case you're interested), which means Thomas Jane will return for next season.

Tom's the one in the hat

One of the bits of big news is that the big boat in the Suez is moving.

And isn't Debbie Birx spilling her heart out?  Every time I glanced at the media yesterday there was some headline about her, or a phone call from the Spawn of Satan, or how she felt she might actually help by staying silent, or some such nonsense.

Of course, there were more shootings.  Virginia Beach this time, I believe.  They're happening too often.  A day doesn't pass without a shooting headline.  And the embattled NRA is silent.  This is what they wanted: daily shootouts.

And finally, I saw that Biden's approval rating has hit 75% for his handling of the pandemic.  That will also translate into higher approval ratings in other areas.  Republicans hate this shit.  Perhaps if they hadn't chosen to embrace the fringe elements of society they might get more respect... nah, that'll never happen.  They're too desperate to dictate and control to ever consider changing.  They don't care how low their approval ratings go as long as they're in charge.

Allies

Sunday - I slept in until 0530... of course I may go back at some time for a nap.  Naps are good things.  There was a time when I thought them foolish, I was younger then.  Dogs and Cats nap quite a bit.  As we age, we become more like our furry friends... some of us even get a bit furrier.
I rode 13.79 miles yesterday in Riviera Valley... which is, in fact, in the Italian Alps.  Not a lot of climbing, but you don't need hills to push your legs.  You do that by picking up your speed.  The higher your cadence, the higher your heart rate.  As I've always said, your legs are the engines of you body.
Now that I've finished up the second season of "Lost in Space" on Netflix, I've moved on to "The Expanse."  Amazon Prime picked up this series after the SciFi channel cancelled it.  I had seen a few episodes quite a while back and only found it somewhat interesting.  Well, in the years since then the show has transitioned from a science fiction mystery into something akin to Frederick Pohl's classic novel "Gateway."  Here's the trailer:

Oh, and I guess the Idiot Jerk and his Idiot Party were taken off guard by their assassination of an Iranian Colonel.  Mikey Pompeo is claiming our European Allies are helping as much as they need to be....  I think he needs to revisit the definition of Allies.  I do believe he was expecting the groveling of supplicants, but then he is a Crazed Conservative Christian.
And then the Idiot Jerk Tweeted some nonsense about targeting 52 sites if there was any form of retaliation...   Thanks to those Crazy Christians he now has a god complex.  All they see is the power he is going to give them.  In case you didn't know, this is how evil works.  Neither he, nor they, understand those who used to be our Allies are just going to sit back and watch him shit his pants.
