Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Troll Farms

Supposedly, today is the last day of this heat cycle we've been stuck in for the past week.  The outside temp was 76 (F) when I woke up, with the predicted high for the day to be around 97 (F).  However, this afternoon storms should be moving through the area (the remnants of Beryl) and they're saying that is going to cool us off.  Tomorrow, temps are predicted to be more seasonal.

Being that it is so warm, my forays outside have been rather limited.  Mostly to my local Giant supermarket.  However, I've bought my way through all of the bonus point deals for this week, and since I have more than enough food in the house, will be spending money there until Friday or Saturday.

Even though I hate doing it, I've realized that I need to begin counting calories again.  Rats!  I had to order a new kitchen scale because my old one stopped working.  It lights up, and you can change from ounces, to pounds, to milliliters, however it just doesn't weight things.  No matter what you put on the scale, the readout says it weighs nothing.  This would good if it meant food had no calories.

I started watching Hit Man on Netflix last evening, and after about a half hour turned it off.  This was supposed to be Glenn Powell's breakout roll, his character, however, is just not that interesting.  This might because of his constantly changing appearance.  The makeup is very good, but so many changes make it difficult to identify with the lead character.  Which Glenn Powell are you supposed to like?  Hit Man is another one of those Netflix movies that only played for a week in theaters to make it eligible during award season.  This is a good indicator that they thought it didn't have box office legs, not even little ones.

Honestly, I can wait for this election cycle to be over.  I feel so terribly sorry for those who have cable, who have to watch commercials, because they are just beginning.  And it's not just commercials, it's every where.  I'm tired of getting texts begging for money.  The fact that so many have access to my phone number is frightening.  As soon as the text show up, I just block the numbers.  If I get a text asking me whom I'm voting for?  I block it.  I don't respond to any of them.  I do believe my feelings and my actions are common among so many people.  Do not believe anything you read or hear about the candidates.  The troll farms are working overtime.

Do not vote for a candidate, vote for Democracy.  Republican authoritarianism will destroy America as we know it.  They truly don't care if they burn down the country if they can rebuild it the way they want, however, I've yet to see an arsonist do that.  Mostly, they just glory in the ashes like pigs in shit.

Grazing

Well, it's Saturday and my first of 3 days off in a row.  I'm stoked.  Yard work gets done today: the raking of the leaves, the pulling of the early weeds, and the cutting up of the branches.  The Temp is supposed to hit the mid 70's so there's a good possibility I will also start 'the wearing of the shorts.'  If my year were to be categorized by my clothing selections it would fall into 2 seasons:  Sweatpants Season, and Shorts Season.  Comfort is essential, everything is loose and baggy.
I stepped on the scale this morning.   Holy Shit!  I am up 5 lbs.  Not that I'm really surprised since last week we had our Success Sharing party at work - food all weekend... and into the middle of the week.  This past Wednesday our Northern Divisional President walked the store and... as you might expect, they brought in more food.  Unfortunately, I have been cursed with the ability to graze.  That's right!  The dirty, little truth is that I am a grazer.  Never take me to a buffet.  My definition of smorgasbord is more goes in... my mouth.  For a grazer, I've had a really great 3 weeks.  Now I must face the ugly truth... calories count.  Shit.  To make things even worse, when I graze I also turn into a sloth...

The grazing zone
Of course, I'm not alone, everyone else at the store has been munching away.  Unlike most of them, I will do something about it.  Cardio is fun!!
And isn't Brexit turning into a big cluster fuck?  Blame those damn conservatives, the ones who said "this is going to be easy" (wrong).  You know?  The ones who promised the UK would leave the EU "on our own terms" (wrong).  Boy, did those conservatives sell the British people a bundle of shit.  The Idiot Jerk in the White House is anxiously waiting for Brexit to happen.  His administration is already looking forward to the 'great, trade deals.'  Yo!  Britons!  In case you didn't know, the Idiot Jerk's definition of a fair trade deal is to "take you to the cleaners."  When he and his minions say 'fair deal,' what they're really saying is "what's in it for me."  They don't care about setting up an equitable trade accord with the UK.  If you give him the chance, he will bankrupt you.

I've seen the cookies and the damage done.

Well, it is that time of year, you know.  You do know what I'm talking about, don't you?  The day I climb up on the scale to see how much damage the holidays have done.  Since I tend to track a lot of my personal information, I can tell you the last time I weighed myself was on November 21, 2014, just before Thanksgiving.

I did cringe a bit before stepping onto my Ironman this morning.  You see, during the holidays I'm always on a "see food" diet:  I see food and I eat food.  Except for those terrible Christmas cookies I had at work, everything tasted scrumptious, and I'm including quite a lot here.  There was Boston creme pie, and red velvet cake, and coconut cake, and snicker doodles (love those), and sand tarts, and chocolate chip cookies, and... well the list goes on and on.  You'll notice I'm not including two turkey dinners and and a pork and sauerkraut feast.  Anyway, this morning it was time to see how much damage was done.

And the total cumulative gain I'd wrought was... 6.2 pounds.  To be perfectly honest, I was quite relieved.  I was expecting a much higher figure, since I really do love to eat.  I'm not too concerned since the weight should be gone in about 2 - 3 weeks.  In fact, the first thing I did after weighing myself was set up a cardio / weight training regime.  Believe me, I'll be fine, just as long as no one waves a croissant in front of my nose.
