Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Trump Avoids (?) the Press

The temp in the writing room is a cool 68 (F) this morning.  Outside, at least according to Accuweather, Howie's running around in 53 (F) weather.  Skies are clear, and are predicted to stay that way.  Our high will climb into the mid 70s (F).  A warming trend is in the forecast for this coming week, though how warm is questionable.  Will we hit the predicted 80 (F)?  I guess I shall have to wait and see.

And we are in the middle of a holiday weekend.  This will be the last holiday until Black Friday rolls around.  Up until yesterday, our store has been hitting our forecast as far as sales, but then things slowed down. It's anybody's guess as to how busy we might be today since this is the last holiday when people can have cookouts and barbecues until next spring.

I did deal with three women in hajibs yesterday who were buying vinyl sheeting.  Their English was not the best and I one point they wanted us to deliver a fairly large sheet of rolled vinyl, however, they thought it could be delivered at a specific time.  That costs a lot more.  After about 15 minutes, one of them told me that they would return today with a bigger vehicle.  One of them was a bit frustrated, but the other two, like me, seemed to find the conversation amusing.

And, being retail, I found this amusing.

And as far as any of us know, the Orange Anus still breathes.  Yesterday was fun though, wasn't it?  Waiting for breaking news of his demise made the world giddy with excitement.  As more than one person pointed out, if the administration wanted to prove that Orangie was still stinking up the land of the living, they could have done so with him make a personal appearance.  Let's be honest here, normally the man would have no problem walking over dead babies to get is mug on TV.  Yesterday, that didn't happen.  The Press Corp was kept about 1000 feet away (305 meters) at all times.  Even the pictures and video of him getting into his car were taken from quite a distance away.  They were again kept at a distance when he (supposedly) left his golf club in Virginia.  They were told that he just didn't want to talk to anybody yesterday... now wouldn't that be a first?  Another thing is that people who claim to live near his golf club commented that normally when he golfed at that club there are usually a number of security helicopters in the air, and that police cordoned off specific roads, and that didn't happen yesterday.  Orangie's next scheduled meeting is on Tuesday.

GO GOLFING INSTEAD!

Holy Crap!  It's Wednesday!  2 vacation days are gone.  On the first I was Mr. Relaxation.  On the 2nd I work outside:  the lawn was mowed, 2 more pepper plants were added to a shiny new container, a zucchini plant in, and a ride through Andalusia that took over an hour (what can I say, there's a hill 4 miles long).
The temps here hit 91 (F) and today they're supposed to hit 92 (F).  Remember last summer.  Temps got really, really hot around the world.  Global warming, you know?  That thing Republicans don't believe in?
Oddly enough, I've learned that if you purchase the Kindle version of my books, some of the chapter numbers are duplicated and others disappear.  It's a Kindle thing.  Everything's where it should be in the paperback versions.  Isn't that interesting?
And I had thought the Idiot Jerk in the White House was silent yesterday... wrong.  He actually Tweeted some sort of lies about that 75 year old protester who had been pushed down by police, sourced from an anonymous blog, of course.  Can we talk about ironies here?  On the day of George Floyd's funeral, the Idiot Jerk in the White House Bore False Witness against a 75 year old man.  I do believe Joe Biden was in Houston for the funeral.  The Idiot Jerk?  Once again he proved his callous indecency.  This is to be expected.
There's also word that he's regrouping the team that managed to get him his Electoral College win...  As if that's going to help his sorry ass.  They're also saying his campaign is struggling to come up with a message that will resonate with the voting public. They ought to hire me.  I came up with one in... oh, 3 or 4 seconds.  So tell me, what do you think?

GO GOLFING INSTEAD!

Can any message be more concisely precise?  Getting in a round of 9 holes is so much more fun than dealing with a pandemic.  Or Racial Injustice.  Being under par is one of the best feelings you can have... except for maybe praising white supremacists (you know, they're really fine people).  So, tell me.  Do you think it will fly with the voting public?  Does it have a sharp enough ring of truth?  Let's be honest here.  The country's in a recession because he chose to go golfing rather than deal with an approaching pandemic.  Ouch!

Sweat Storm

So, here it is... Monday, not the first day of my work week since I started back yesterday.
My cardio this AM was anything but optimal...most likely due to a couple of things, the most important being that I chose music that didn't have the right beat.  Music is very important, for the first note of the first song is what sets the tone, and, unfortunately it was an old Fall Out Boy album that I tuned in and the first song eased into an oozing repetition, not what I needed.   Another thing was my phone - the S8 has a Health App that actually has an elliptical tracker, so this AM I chose to use it... bad choice, every 5 minutes this female elevator voice whispered my total time and calories burned into my ear.  Last time that App gets used.  Even still, I managed to get the ticker going fast enough to turn myself into a sweat storm.

Aftermath of sweat
And I'm also having a little war with Garmin right now.  Back in February I bought myself their Fenix 3 HR and all was right with the world, until I bought my S8.  Connectivity disappeared instantly which means all of the bells and whistles I paid for no longer work.  So I've been complaining.  Other sport watches have updated their software, Garmin still has yet to do so.  On last Friday's email they told me that it takes "extensive testing with a new phone" before they release an update, to which I listed some of their competitors who had already completed their testing and released an update.
I saw that Ann Coulter had started some sort of Tweet War with Delta.  Ann Coulter... what can I say, every time I see her I think of Elton John's song "Dirty Little Girl."
Oh, and the Idiot in the White House was golfing again this weekend, or maybe he was just at golf tournament.  Now, I've never been a golf enthusiast.  In fact, I've always thought of it as one of those pretentious sports because it's expensive, and because people who play it, like the Idiot, seem to think that they're special.  Let's be honest here.  How many of you watch the Golf Channel.  Yep, there is one.  And if you've ever watched a tournament you know the commentator always talks in a low, quiet voice since a normal voice might ruin the golfer's concentration.  Give me a break!
