Yesterday

 Well, the weekend has arrived.  There's a slight drizzle, but that's supposed to pass.  Temps today are predicted to climb up into the low 90s (F).  Humidity is thick, though not clingy, like a wetsuit, and as the day gets warmer that may change.

Since it is Saturday, I will be working an almost full 7 hours and it'll be just me.  The 2 full time associates don't get back from vacation until Monday, and after tomorrow I'll be off until Thursday.  I'm quite interested in talking to one of them since this past Wednesday he was up in New York.  He went to see Josh Groban in Sweeney Todd.  I saw the original production oh, so many years ago with Len Cariou and Angela Lansbury.  

My big accomplishment yesterday was cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.  Meh.  If I lived in a much larger house, I probably hire someone to come in and do that for me, but for what the number of rooms I have, it wouldn't be a good waste of money.  

Since I've added the snails and algae eater to the big tank and moved the fish that east snails to the tank in the living room, my algae problems have disappeared, for the most part.  Slowly, tank decorations are being added.  Yesterday it was a clam shell, that works with a bubbler.  Of course, one of the snails had to investigate.  I snapped a picture just before he fell off the edge.

And yesterday was not a good day for Republicans.  Donny's attorneys met with Tanya Chutkan and then went away disappointed.  I liked the bit where she told them that if their client insisted on making inflammatory remarks it created a very good reason to move the trial up, rather than delay it.  The Orange Anus hates that sort of shit.  Other bits that I liked: that Trump is a criminal defendant and will be treated as such, and that is First Amendment rights are not absolute.  Donny is not a happy camper.  His S'mores are burning.

Republicans were also granted their wish by Merrick Garland, a Special Counsel has been assigned to the Hunter Biden case.  This doesn't make the GOP happy.  Now they're shrieking Cover UP.  In fact, Republicans are furious because it was politically expedient for them to keep Hunter's name in the headlines.  That has now been taken away from them.

Finally, Conservatives up in Iowa did not welcome Ronnie DeSantis with open arms.  Instead, they yelled at him.  They insulted him by calling him Pudding Fingers.  I delight in seeing this little asshole get his comeuppance in such a public manner.

Barbie's Adventure!

 And the weekend is upon us!  I get to work (notice the lack of an exclamation mark).  It does pay for my movie going experience, as well as a lot of other things, so I suppose I really shouldn't complain.  And it's only 3 days a week.

Yesterday was warm, again in the low 90s (F), and there was the threat of a possible thunderstorm, which we got, but while there wasn't a lot of thunder and lightening, when it came to the rain this storm was on steroids.  The warnings went out for small stream flooding because we received 2 inches of rain in 45 minutes.  Yes, it was deluge time in Central PA.  Those raindrops were immense.

I drove over to PetSmart yesterday morning and picked up 3 snails.  Now that there are only angelfish in the big tank, I don't have to worry about them being eaten, and hopefully they'll work on eliminating a lot of the algae.  So far they seem to be quite at home gorging themselves until their little snail bellies are full, then they'll rest a bit, and then gorge some more.

And, of course, there was a major political controversy yesterday: Vietnam banned the Barbie movie! (notice the exclamation point!).  Seeing the potential of another dead horse to kick around, a number of Republicans, Ted Cruz included, jumped aboard the band wagon.  What's the to do all about?  Well, there's this small dotted line off the cost of Asia, notice that on the map is says Asia, not China, and evidently China has used 9 dots to indicate where their territorial waters end.  There are, if you'll count, only 8 dots here but, and I do hate repeating myself, Republicans, including Ted Cruz, need a dead horse to kick.  Isn't it sad how Republicans will do anything to waste America's tax dollars.

Finally, Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee, gave Trump's legal team until July 13 to get the security clearances in place for his legal team to defend him over his theft of top secret documents.  This will cause delays, of course, all part of the plan, and all the while making it look like she's doing her job.  I can't wait until that Orange Anus is locked up.

Knife in the Back

 We had a frost warning for early this morning.   The temps are down to 38 (F), but so for no frost.  The leaves are starting to fall from trees though, like the rain we never really got yesterday but never did.  I'm off on Tuesday, but if the forecasters are right, rain will be falling here in Central Pa, so leaf raking might not be on my schedule.

I will need to get a snail for my tank.  Algae.  And the algae eater is so damn fickle.  Rather than clean off the side of the tank, it's turned out to be more of a nibbler than an eater, nibble a bit here, nibble a bit there, sort of like a grazer with a free ticket to Ponderosa.  Remember Ponderosa?  It used to be a buffet style restaurant.  Gee.  Does anybody remember buffets?

And there's all sort of interesting bits and pieces of political news.  A number of Republican Senators are in trouble because they suckered up to the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  Someone should tell them that after over 3 years of jumping aboard his dribble train, two weeks before the election is a bad time to decide to jump off.  You're hearing people say that slack-jawed McConnell made a mistake by trying to rush a Cracker Jack Crazy Christian onto the Supreme Court.  He thought this was going to help endangered Senators... it hasn't, and if they vote her in before election day?  Well, that might be the bloody knife in their back.

Biden beat the Idiot Jerk on ratings in the Dueling Town Hall competition.  Boy, I'll bet that must sting, to be a ratings loser.

And if you all remember, for quite some time I've been saying that when the Idiot Jerk loses, he'll end up moving to Moscow.  Well, he's starting to drop hints about leaving the country.  That's the only option he has to avoid being taken into custody the second Biden is sworn in.  I'm suspecting the whole family is going to relocate.  Their corruption is going to come out.  

Of slugs and Greed. American Style

Okay, so here it is Saturday and, of course, I get to work.  In fact, I get to work for the next 6 days - then I get 2 consecutive days off, and after that I get to work for 7 days straight.  This is the hell of working in retail.  At least I now have a fixed shift, and no more overnight shifts.
Yesterday was a day off for me and I was surprised at how much I actually accomplished.  Big Seig and I planted a white rose bush in the back yard (it was too warm for Lily, who spent that time sleeping on the sofa).  Went to see my Mom.  Did the 2nd coat of paint on the inside of my kitchen cabinets.  Had breakfast with my brother and... still managed to get in another 47 minutes of heavy duty cardio.  Oh, and I used the new Garmin scale yesterday - there's a .5 pound difference between it and the Worthings scale, no big deal.
I got my bill from Microsoft for next year's subscription of Office... remember when you could buy the software?  They don't do that anymore, they like to charge you a yearly subscription fee, they make more money that way.  Hello, American Capitalism.  Don't it suck?  There was a time when the American Dream stood for something, before greed perverted it into something dark and sinister.  A large part of the blame goes to TV Evangelism where financially successful Christians were paraded around like golden idols.  They interbred financial success with religion, the bastard child of which we call Social Conservatism.  Everything is about "my money," and "my taxes,' and not about compassion.  They care about humanity as long as humanity does what they say, which is why the sorry finger is pointing at them.
The driving force behind that little tirade is the ACA.  There are 2 reasons the Republicans hate the ACA:  the legislation was done under a black president, and it involves their taxes... well, not the taxes of the majority, the taxes of a minority, the wealthy, the rich, the Idiots of the United States.  However the message the wealthy are sending out is not "my taxes," rather they are incorporating the greed of all Republicans.  The ACA is using "our taxes," this is a waste of "our money."  What horseshit.
Anyway, today is supposed to be a 'rest day' for me, no cardio, no free weights, no strength equipment, but I am thinking I might sneak in a little ab work, you know, to keep me from feeling too much like a slug.

Besides, I have absolutely no idea where I'd get a lettuce leaf that big.
