All about my snake... and other things.

Well, I get to go back to work today... for today and tomorrow, then I'm off for 2 more days.  A permanent schedule like this would be wonderful...
Anyway, I'm going to spend a few moments here bragging about my snake.  Now, I don't want anybody getting jealous, but my snake is big... real long, probably longer than most of imagine.  Oh, and he's black, of course I don't really know if I have the gender right since I didn't roll him over to see if he has a little snakey penis.  So, you ask, how long is my snake?  Well, I'd say he's easily over 5 feet long with about a 2 inch diameter.  He's very quiet, in fact I was quite surprised to find out he was living here.  Yesterday morning was the first time I actually saw him.  I looked out the back door window and there he was, casually snaking his way across the sidewalk.  That's how I know how big he is, the sidewalk is 4 feet wide at that point.  Now I know why my chipmunk population has been on the decline.  A friend asked me what I was going to do about him and I said "nothing."  Hopefully he will take care of my mouse problem and mousetraps will be unnecessary this fall.

The picture above is stock since I had neither my phone nor my camera with me.  The truth is I may never see him again.  Black snakes are nocturnal.  They hunt at night.  In case you're wondering, the dogs didn't see him.  I kept them in the house.  They would have killed the poor thing.
We're a year and a half from the 2020 election and polls are revealing things that are not too surprising, in other words this is what most Americans suspected.  Evidently only 38% of female voters are planning on voting for the Idiot Jerk, that's your Crazy Christian crowd and your Crazy Conservative crowd, and a small percentage of non-thinkers.  In case you didn't know, women are one of the largest voting blocks in the United States and everything the Idiot Jerk does to please his Crazy Christian base goes against the grain of 62% of that voting block.  This man is dumb as a brick.  He relies on Crazy Christian sycophants who tell him he was chosen by God to give them what they want.  They are depraved.  I can only wonder what they're going to do when he gets voted out of office. 

So, who's energized?

In case anyone is wondering, this is my kind of half hump day.  You see, you can only have a true hump day when you work an odd number of days, say 5 or 7 (you can't really count 3 since it's barely a week).  Since I'm working 6 days in a row, sometime this evening I will most likely have a hump moment.  Not that it will be anything I will be specifically aware of, sort of like when Big Seig burps.  He doesn't even know what a burp is.  For him it's just a mini 'woah' moment.  Here, and then gone.
An interesting thing about this whole Brett Kavanaugh travesty was the commentary by 'wanna be' pundits, those desperate men and women who feel a need to be the voices of authority.  While I was sitting at the Flooring Desk yesterday, someone came up to me and said "NPR says the midterms are going to be difficult for the Democrats."  That was the third time I'd heard that, or read that, (I believe the Mistress mentioned it as well).  This person is making a consensus statement without so much as a single contrast, or comparison, to the mood in America.  Whether intentional or not, that statement sounds demoralizing as hell, and this commentator needs to be educated.  Conservatives are the minority group in this country.  Having Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court is not going to move voters to the right.  The Idiot Jerk's approval rating isn't going to miraculously climb, not is his disapproval rating going to drop.
Now, I'm not saying the Crazies on the Right haven't been energized.  NPR needed to qualify their thesis, and didn't.  They needed to compare the two.  If the minority conservatives are energized, then the majority of America, then the Liberals, the Centrists, the Independents have become nuclearized.  Our anger is galvanizing.  They are the fluffy, pink Energizers, and we are the Copper Topped, Dominating Duracells.  In case you didn't know, in case you didn't know, we beat the fluffy, pink bunnies hands down..  In performance, we outlast, we endure.  They have the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  Don't you think it's time we wiped that shitty smile off of his face?

Missing the Target Audience

Well, I get to go back to work today... but just for today and tomorrow.  Then I have another day off.
Not surprisingly, it rained again last night.  I did manage to get my backyard mowed yesterday.  That's was nice.  I need to get the weed wacker out, maybe on Sunday, if we don't have any rain and things dry out just the slightest bit.
I went to the PA DMV and got my new driver's license - good for 4 more years.  Holy Shit do I look old.  I mean, really, really old.  And I even got my haircut before hand.  What was funny was seeing a young woman fluffing her hair before her picture was taken.  I almost laughed out loud.  She was separating her ringlet, pulling them out with her fingers to make them look fuller, until the woman behind the counter said "okay, we need to take your picture now."  Her first picture didn't do her justice, or so she thought.  The 2nd taught her that your picture on your driver's license is never going to make you look attractive.
Of course, the big news from yesterday was the testimonies of Christine and Brett.  She was soft-spoken and compelling.  The woman hired to drill holes in her story totally failed, and Christine got cheers.  Brett, on the other hand, was fiery, he made faces, called everybody a liar, and tried to call all Republicans to arms.  Who was more successful?  Hhhmmm.
My opinion:  he will most likely be confirmed.  That is not a good thing, especially for Conservatives.  But then Conservatives don't see the precedence of thinking.  Their goal is to make the Supreme Court conservative.  Yesterday millions and millions of women watched Christine speak and their hearts were moved.  These women vote.  Millions of Millennials watched as well and what they saw was a member of the Old Guard raging at women.  Oh, sure Brett may have blamed Democrats, but the blunt finger of his anger was directed mainly at women.  There are more women in the Democratic Party then there are men.  And the midterms are coming.  What the Republicans completely fail to understand, is that a vote for Brett will be countered by many, many votes for Democrats.  You know?  The party which is empathizes with women.  The party which says that the 'good old boys' who forcibly climb on top need to be punched back.
Yesterday the Republicans failed at the number one rule that anybody who has every worked in public relations knows:  succeed with your target audience.  Writers, and singers, and painters, and ad men, and... well, at least Democratic politicians know this.  Even Faux News knows this.  They are saying this morning the Republican Party failed.  They blew it.  They failed to understand just whom their Target Audience is:  women voters.  Yesterday the Republican Party took a big step in ensuring a Blue Judgment.  They played the 'good old boy' game, and shit all over their Target Audience.  Of course, this was to be expected since they are the party of aging white men and failed Christians.

Fox news silences Palin

As most people now know, Sarah Palin was dumped by Fox.  Wait, let me put that more delicately, her contract was not renewed.  Of course, it doesn't make a difference how it's said, the truth is she was no longer seen as an asset.  I'm sure three years ago when she was hired for her not too brilliant commentary Fox News could not comprehend how Obama, the nation's first black president might even come close to winning a second term.  I'm sure the executives there said to themselves, "this tootsie is going to be the icing on the cake."  Wrong.  They paid her three million dollars simply on an assumption.  What they truly should have done was to have revisited the McCain campaign and recognized how detrimental her presence had been.  She turned off quite a few women voters, that select group she was supposed to welcome in to the Republican Brood.  While the campaign was run poorly, Palin did very little to help it.  In fact, it seemed as though every time she gave an interview a turd fell out of her mouth.  She wanted to go rogue with out knowing the definition of the word.  Americans want a stable government, not one that's goes rogue when it doesn't get its way.

Pretty but not that smart

She speaks about family values, yet her children can't seem to stay married.  Image is very important in politics, it's more then standing on stage behind a microphone and looking pretty.  Being successful is very difficult when your family is a star of the tabloids.  I understand she said, of her future, there will always be people who want to hear her message.  Does she understand speaking to a crowd of seven can be a little disheartening.  The truth of the matter is she was the Flavor of the Month who lasted a little longer then most.  Now, what she needs to do is disappear completely and not leave a bad taste in the GOP's mouth.
