A big thank you to all who sent their condolences, they were so appreciated. For the first time in the 30 years I have lived in my house there is no dog nor cat companion, and it is strange. They are not only the friend you can talk to, they add regularity, a steady syncopation, a reliable heart that helps keep everything moving in a positive direction. I used to tell people there would be no more animals after Lily... who the Hell was I kidding. It's not like I'm feeble.
In other words, I have started educating myself on other dog breeds. No more boxers. I love them, but I don't seem to have much luck with them. Gertie died at 5.5 years, Biggie at 8.5. Lily lived the longest. So, maybe an Airedale is in my future, or a Vizsla, something large enough to make it up the staircase and jump onto the bed; nothing little, nothing hairy.
For those interested, Lily had thrombocytopenia, a disease much like leukemia where her white blood cells were killing off her other blood cells. It is extremely difficult to diagnose with zero symptoms until it is in an advanced stage. This is how it goes sometimes.
And I do plan on traveling a bit before the new puppy arrives. An appointment has been made for April 9, to get a new passport (I foolishly let the old one expire), and I've begun looking at trips to Greece, probably in September so it's not too hot. Interestingly enough, my next book takes place at Delphi, Greece. Here's one of the trips I'm looking at.
A home is not a home without a dog in it to me. They add so much and always bring a welcome sign of happiness no matter your mood. I always wanted a Great Dane...but don't have a long life expectancy either...and I get attached. Buster is the longest I've had a dog....17 years!!! Sson to be 18. And still healthy for his age..and loves his long walks. In the process of searching for our Lilleth's replacement. I wish I could give them all homes.
ReplyDeleteMy nephew has 3 Great Danes and they live about 8 years. And the house is really, really empty.
DeleteAlso....its sad when the dump....a rich millionaire according to him...has to ask for money. If you so rich Donnie...why then ask for money like a homeless person??? Hmmmmm fatso? Maybe he should hit up Oprah...Beyonce or Taylor....who could easily foot the bill.. Mind you...all powerful and rich WOMEN!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRemember Trump's been lying about his real estate values for years, so who knows what they're actually worth, and he's used them as collateral for so many loans, he may not even actually own them.
DeleteOhhh that was a LOT. Poor Lily.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think people who have had pets do not go long without one. And a large breed, huh? Don't smaller breeds live longer? Riley, the chihuahua I lived with was almost seventeen when she passed. Why don't you like smaller breeds?
And for a billionaire, Fat Hitler is whining way too much. Where's the money? Wasn't Mar-A-Lardo worth like a billion dollars alone? And now he's crying that the money he ponies up will be forever lost even if he wins. Even I know that's a lie. And I'm just a fucking blogger. Ugh.
Also, a trip to Greece sounds amazing!
XOXO
Her illness didn't effect either her appetite or drinking water, and she had no problem with her business. Had she stopped eating I'd have run her to the Vet in a heart beat.
DeleteAnd Trump's shrieking about "fire sale Prices" is going to hurt him more with his base than the 91 indictments.
Letitia James is grabbing him by the assets and I am here for it!
ReplyDeleteThey asked his attorney if he had gone to either the Russians or the Saudis for $$$ and she was hedgy. Honestly, I suspect he's already given them so much, he's got nothing left of value to offer.
