Well, it does seem as if the Arctic Blast has hit us... sort of. When I woke up this morning our outside temp was 30 (F) and that's cold. Oddly enough, areas to our geographic south were much colder, so maybe the Susquehanna Valley is in a bit of a bubble of warmness. Tonight is not supposed to be as cold, with the low sitting around 31 (F). Yeah, I know, like 1 degree makes that much of a difference.
The cold temps also mean the beginning of oatmeal season. I usually cook up barley for breakfast, but once the chilly willy mornings begin I switch to oatmeal with peanut butter and honey. I almost always use honey as a sweetener. It's not that I don't like using refined and processed sugar, which I do think about, but because I like the flavor. The best honey I've had came from Greece. Seriously, that was so yummy.
My brother sent me a video on Facebook of Fred Rogers playing a screamin' guitar. I pointed out the name Soros at the top and let him know that it was AI generated. I really do dislike AI. In my mind, AI is for lazy people who are creatively barren. Self publishers are supposed to notify their readers if they use AI, but you know there's a lot of wannabe pseudo authors that don't. They have no idea with being a fraudulent human being.
I popped 6 pork loins into the freezer a bit ago. I'm going to be dehydrating them and nearly frozen pork makes for easier slicing.
And here are 2 more pics of my history. They are from Bill Clinton's first inauguration. Yes was there. I, along with a million other people got to hear Maya Angelou recite On the Pulse of a Morning. My words of advice to people: If you ever get the chance to participate in history, do so, those moments will stay with you forever.

Slowly I sense the tide turning ... I remain cautiously optimistic.
ReplyDeleteWe are a raw sugar and agave household.
I might have to check out the agave. And the tide is turning, mostly I think because people are realizing he's truly thousands of times worse than his reality show.
DeleteIt is 27 degrees here this morning with a bit of light snow. I just brushed about 8 inches of it off my car. The windows are all iced up so I sprayed a mix of alcohol and water on them to get rid of ice. At 84 I am in no shape to do much more. My snow shovel ing man isn’t starting till December. The weather is supposed to warm up on Thursday i think. Your oatmeal sounds really good, I might try that for lunch Gigi
ReplyDeleteWe did make it up into the 40s (F) today, so I was fine with that, but wow! Did we get wind!
DeleteIt's been chilly here, too.
ReplyDeleteThe high today was a balmy 40F.
And yes! Taking part of history is amazing. I saw Obama here in Chi and I went to the Women's March to protest the first coming of Cankles.
And EVERYTHING is a grift with Cankles. Everything. But we knew that. The Repugs know that and they are in it just for the ride, because it lines their pockets also. So we're fucked.
XOXO
Holy Crap! We were only 1 degree warmer than you! I saw Obama in Harrisburg and stood 25 feet away!
DeleteAnd happy Veterans' Day!!!
ReplyDeleteXOXO
P.S. I still have the pants that sailor 'donated'. I do have fond memories of everything he apparently learned at sea....
After all this time you should be pretty good at opening those 13 buttons, that is if you know the trick.
DeleteI'm very wary of AI too. While it can be good, can you imagine the terrible things it can produce too! I mean pictures of X with his mistress on a beach, when X was on the opposite side of the world. Or country Y bombing a hospital in country Z!! It's scary stuff. And I agree with you about being there to witness history. When the Arab spring uprising began in Tunisia, my Tunisian friend flew out to be there as he wanted to be part of history. I'm not sure how much good it did in the end but he felt he wanted to be there so off he went!
ReplyDeleteAI is for cheats. And being a part of history is really all about the memories being created. My parents let me stay up to watch TV when we landed on the moon, and when it happened we walked outside and looked up and what I remember is seeing everybody in our neighborhood outside as well, and everybody was looking up at the moon. What a memory!
