Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Take it to the Limit

This morning's Central PA temp was 60 (F), that's almost as cool as cucumber!  Temps will be rising though, both today and for the beginning of the week.  By Wednesday we should be topping off with a high around 93 (F) with high humidity.  Thunderstorms are supposed to be hanging around the area, but the chance of us getting a storm is 55%, so I'd say that's iffy.

Yesterday was a good day as far as writing goes.  No workouts were done.  No walking done. But as long as the words are going into the laptop things are good.  One thing that is making this easy is the dealing with the time when Eli's mother was still alive.  I'm old enough to remember what things were like around 40 years ago.  You know?  What songs were playing on the radio.  Here's a bit that may or may not be important to the plot.  One of the biggest hits back then was by a band called The Eagles.  One of their many hits was a song called Take it to the Limit.  Where as an enormous number of pop and rock songs are written in 4/4 time, Take it to the Limit is written in 3/4 time, also known as Waltz Time.  Does Waltz Time come into play in a mystery titled The Body in 4/4 Time?  Stay tuned.  Here's a live version of that song from 1977.

I did work yesterday and actually got 2 measures, neither is going to break the bank for the customers.  One is a small bathroom that'll probably cost around $800, and the other is a single bedroom.  The house is for sale, however there's ink on the bedroom floor and no one is making an offer.  this is a good example of how many people try to get their asking price without fixing anything up before the house goes on the market. The carpet is not going to match the rest of the carpeting in the house.  The seller, himself, wouldn't make an offer, so he's putting in the cheapest carpet we have to try and get his asking price.  I'm hoping he doesn't get it and has to reduce his asking price.

I'm betting Orangie's having wet dreams over his meeting with his Blo Bro Vlad.  This meeting is not a good thing.  Orangie will give away the bank in order to give old Vlad a cuddle or two.

One thing I do find amazing is that MAGA cultists are truly ignorant of the hate Orangie is generating towards them and their party.  These people are in their own little world, totally clueless.  True, some are beginning to scratch their heads with the Epstein scandal, but many of them are still delusional.  Nothing is going to change that, unless they do manage to start a war and America starts hanging their treasonous asses.

Winners and Losers

Well, it's Monday and I get to go back to work after having just one day off and yesterday was, except for a few things, pretty much a waste.  Blame it on the snow.  Now snow doesn't bother me since I have no problem shoveling.  For the dogs?  Play time city!  They went out for about 10 minutes, and then they came back in and I'd dry them off, and then after about 20 minutes they'd go back out again.  This was repeated frequently through out the day.
I did watch the UCI Cyclocross World Championship live from Valkenburg, Netherlands.  Many of the people who attend these races wear funny hats and drink lots of beer, and yesterday I'm sure they drank more beer than usual since the temperature over there was 1 (C).  The winner was a gent named Wout Van Aert, from Belgium - give him a round of applause for his 3rd win!

Oh, and my Dad's Eagles finally won their first Super Bowl.  My Dad was a lifelong Eagles fan.  Yesterday would have made him so proud.  They get a round of applause as well - I'm sure the city of Philly will be green for a number of days to come.  I wonder if the Idiot Jerk in the White House will invite them to visit - last year there was a bit of a problem - no one wanted to get that close to a dirty, stinky scumbag.
Last evening, while just about everybody else in the United States was watching the Eagles win, I went to the movies with my friend Patty.  What did we see?  "The Shape of Water."  What a great film.  Every accolade you hear about this movie is true.  This is a modern fairy Tale - "the story of a princess, and the monster who tries to destroy her happiness."  Sally Hawkins owns this film, but the supporting performances are simply stunning.  Octavia Spencer is remarkable as Eliza's true friend, and Richard Strickland as her artistic other best friend, the one with the bad toupee, gives a keystone performance; both are nominated for Supporting Performances.

And just a wee mention of the Idiot Jerk in the White House... and how releasing that silly memo has actually put Republicans on the defensive.  Like that wasn't to be expected.  And the spawn of the Idiot Jerk?  Their response demonstrates just how stupid they truly are, calling the imbeciles would be too kind.  This is life, and they are losers.

Eagles Won!

Well, I went to see the Eagles / Redskins play at FedEx Field yesterday and got a little sun.  I've never been to a professional football game before, so the experience was new.
Shortly after we pulled out cars into the parking area I realized I was in no way a 'tailgate' person.  Taking a half an hour to set up a 'camp site' so you can grill some sausages and burgers and drink a beer or two, or throw back a couple of 'oyster vodka shooters (Joe, my brother-in-law's contribution), seems a bit pointless.  In fact, tearing the set-up down took longer than setting up because you have to deal with garbage.
The walk to the stadium took about 10 minutes.

Joe, my brother-in-law in green, by brother's in the jersey
And, of course, once we were inside I had a picture taken with my brother with the entire stadium behind us.

What's funny is that I weigh 187 and he weighs 203 and I'm a half in taller... so I have no idea why it looks like I'm pregnant.
The game, itself, was actually fun!  That's right, I had a good time.  I was surprised by the number of obvious gay men there.  They balanced out those loud mouthed Trump supporters who showed up with chubby wives - matching tattoos?  give me a break!  Or the pimp with his 'blue ho' (blue hair, blue lips, blue nails, and blue, velvet outfit).
There were 3 young men sitting to my right and they were a hoot!  At one point a Neil Diamond song was played, the one where he sings "touching you, touching me, touching you," and those 3 young men sang along and touched, and I almost fell out of my seat laughing.
If you're someone who watches football and TV and wonder what happens during the commercial breaks... well, nothing.  Everything stops.  The players stand there.  Sometimes people run towels out to the players so they can wipe the sweat from their brows.

A commercial break
So, would I go to another football game?  Sure, I had fun.  There were a couple of drunks, and slutty looking women, and rednecks, but there were also guys in their Daisy Dukes and tight T-shirts and bearded men who leaned against each other as they watched the game.  The whole thing was... surprising.
Oh, and the Eagles won!  My Dad was a big Eagles fan and while he was alive he went to 7 or 8 games... and they always lost.  Yesterday they won, so I figure that game was for my Dad.

Eagles, Redskins, and Irma

Well, today's Sunday, 9/10 and that means I'm going to see the Washington Redskins play the Philadelphia Eagles.... it's the opening game of the season.  I've been told by a number of people this is supposed to be a really good game...  However, I'm not a football person.  My brother told me we'd get there around 10:30 AM and we'd 'tailgate' for a bit (long, low groan, like the ones Lurch used to make).  I was thinking of wearing one of my cycling caps, perhaps even the Castelli that's all sweat stained from my cardio... but the decided I will keep my head bare.  I'm beginning to get a bald spot on the top / back, the hair is thin, and it's supposed to be sunny today, so maybe I'll see if I can tan it up a little.
I saw where the Idiot Jerk tweeted some sort of nonsense about Irma that ended with "God Bless everyone."  So... he either thinks or believes Irma is a blessing?  Of course, if he's the Anti-Christ he may well see it as a good thing.  One thing I'm certain of, Orange Juice is going to get very expensive, good thing I drink grape.
Well, it's time for me to leave for 'the game.'  Pray for me.
