Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Scorpio!

Well, hello November!  For those unfamiliar with the Zodiac, Scorpios are in full swing.  I am, as you should have guessed, a Scorpio.  The sign is considered to be the most powerful, followed by Leo.  Scorpios are a member of the water sign group, along with Cancer the Crab and Pisces the Fish.  And, while we are emotional and sentimental at times, we also have a stinger, and believe me, we do know how to sting.

Yesterday was one of those "I should have done more but didn't" sort of days.  Howie and I did some lawn work, but not nearly as much as could have been done.  I did some cleaning, but just some.  I wrote, but only around 300 words.  I took a few naps, but none of them were nearly long enough.  I don't know.  Perhaps it was because yesterday was Halloween and I knew that Trick or Treaters would be prowling the neighborhood.  Howie and I were outside when a few went by, and they were all young.

My new neighbors took their daughter down to Lancaster so she could do her Tricker or Treating there.  She's probably 13 or so, and is a little too old to hang with the little kids that hit my neighborhood.  They've been living in the house for a little over a year.  The last time I talked to her, she said they were waiting to see how well their son does in college, implying they might be moving back to Lancaster.  She did tell me that they know the house needs a new roof and they can't afford to put one on, so who knows what they're going to do.  They may try to sell.  They've built up a tiny bit of equity, but not much.

Howie can climb halfway up the stair case.  In another 2 weeks they will no longer be an obstacle for him.

Just in case you missed it, the Orange Anus is suing CBS for a lot of money.  None of the Main Stream Media groups that I scanned this morning were mentioning it, which is not good for Orangie.  In the past, this sort of gimmicky law suit were garner him headlines, no longer.  The bold print headline on NBC is Orangie telling Tucker Carlson that Liz Cheney might think differently if she were standing in front of a firing squad.  The CBS lawsuit would have been a much better headline for him.  Five days before the election and he's making news by threatening people with firing squads.  And his campaign believes this is smart?

Early voting is going well.  While no one knows who's voted for who, we do know that women are outvoting men by a decent percentage.  This is not a good sign.  We know that a lot of people who have never voted before in their lives are voting this year.  A heavy turnout does not favor Republicans.

And finally, we have Elon Musk, who so desperately wants to be president of the United States, who wants to be a petty dictator.  Walz said it best.  He's a dipshit.  The nerd from Hell who's always had to buy his way into the popularity club he so terribly wants to run.  His incompetence becomes more and more apparent as the days go by.

Countdown

Well, a happy late good morning to those you normally read Riding On while enjoying their first cup of coffee.  And no, I didn't stay up late and sleep in.  I had an appointment for bloodwork at 0730.  They took five vials of my iron rich, 100 % proof DNA filled blood, as well as a small cup of urine, which smelt like black coffee even though it was a pale yellow.  This is all prep work for my physical which is scheduled next week.  Tuesday, to be precise.  Not only is November 8 my birthday, it's also election day. Make sure you all give me a very nice present.

Yes, that's right, I'm a full blown Scorpio.

After I finish this entry, I'm going to round up the dogs so the 3 of us can take a nice nap.  Both of them were restless last night.  Lily had to go potty outside twice.  Biggie?  I have a small stash of biscuits in the bedroom and didn't that stinker lay in front of them and whine, like he hadn't been fed in weeks.

I got the estimate for fixing the kitchen ceiling.  Not bad.  Work will start after the electrical work is complete.

I'd say let the countdown begin, but it began a long time ago.  If you think the Republican party has been vile so far, prepare yourselves, you ain't seen nothin' yet.  Elon Musk either has, or will shortly, terminate some of those associates on Twitter who were moderators.  No matter what he claims his intentions are, free speech, for one, don't believe him.  He doesn't care what people Tweet, as long as Twitter becomes a money maker.  To this end, he will permit Republicans to lie like hell, and be as morally degenerate as they want.  His accountants are looking at the numbers.  The more followers Tom Fitton has, or Tulsi Gabard, the better it is for business.  He's raising the $5 for being verified to $20 per month.  It's all about the money.  He will ruin it of  course, that's because he's the Chief Twit.  For those who don't know, he did Tweet that now he's the Chief Twit.  I don't think he knows just what a Twit is.

And, as I said, the election draws nigh.  Because of this, every wannabe political pundit is going to be citing polls.  Believe them not.  Do not believe that America is more concerned in the economy and crime than it is the flipping of Roe.  Polls create drama.  Drama means clicks on media websites, and that generates a corporate desire to purchase ad space.  And so you'll see headlines  such as "Walker leads Warnock by 3%."   It's all horseshit.

November

It's November!  My favorite month of the year.  This is my birthday month.  I'm a Scorpio... can you tell?  I do have a bit of a temper that every now and then rears up and bites off nearby heads.  When that happens, my rule is to shrug and say "So what... this is me!"
Here in Central PA we had a steady rain most of yesterday afternoon and the temps climbed into the mid 70's (F).  Then, last evening, around quarter to 7, the skies exploded with thunder and lightening.  Wind screamed through the maple trees on my hill behind the house, rending leaves, and twigs, and sticks free to send them shrieking into the maelstrom.  Rain crashed into my house like waves upon the shore, sounding like dying hands pounding on the windows.  My freaking phone was crying out high wind warnings, and tornado warnings, and then flood warnings every few minutes.  This went on for almost an hour.... and then silence.  Hell, I have a half an inch of water in my basement.  I would have to say that in all of my years, it was a Halloween night to remember.
In a bit of lighter news, the impeachment proceedings took a baby step towards public hearings.  As might be expected, voting was partisan as hell.  This is what we expect from Republicans.  Their grubby, little mitts are clenched tightly to the Idiot Jerk's shroud.  For them to let go, they need to admit he is a scourge from Hell and we know that will never happen.  He will drag them into purgatory, where their souls will be lightly crisped before he snacks upon them.  Yum yum.  That moment can't happen soon enough.
Here's another bit of fluff.  The Moral Degenerate is moving his legal residence to Florida.  He loves him his winter golf.  Personally, I think this transition is more political than anything else.  He won Florida in 2016, however...  Things are a bit different.  His henchies have no doubt told him New York is going to go royally blue and Florida is edging in that direction.  Florida has a lot of Electoral Votes.  While not a sure shot, the best way to keep those votes from changing color is to move to his castle on the beach.  He's going to give up his snowbird status.  Of course, I might be wrong.  The Idiot Jerk might just be planning on building the largest retirement community for old and dying Republicans the country has ever seen.
As for that little thing called the impeachment inquiry.  The GOP is rapidly pulling their wagons into a circle in an attempt to hold out until the cavalry comes to save their sorry asses.  Oops. I guess no one told them how much they've alienated the cavalry by calling their heroes cowards and traitors.  Their mask is off and he is the face of Republican Party.  They've given us their trick for long enough, soon... so very soon, they're going to be getting their long deserved Treat... and it ain't a Snickers bar.

Celebrate This

Well, here it is, Thursday, November 8, and it's my birthday.  A little over an hour ago (0513) I celebrated circling Sol (our glorious sun) 66 times.  Ain't it great!

The backside has my feet on it.

As well as some of my vitals - length, and weight.  How neat is that!  How special is this, and my birth certificate, which looks like a reverse photo copy?  Well, the hospital at Eglin Air Force Base was decommissioned.  And then first Hurricane Andrew and years later Hurricane Michael went through destroying Eglin, Tyndall, and Homestead.  So, what I have is pretty much all of the documentation I will ever have.  Let me tell you, it made getting a passport a bitch!
I saw "Bohemian Rhapsody" last evening.  Rami Malek is very, very good.  The movie?  A lot of screen time is given to the early years and to the 'blonde girl' in his life.  The later years?  Short shrift.  There's a scene with the band, some other quick scenes and then voila! 7 years have passed.  In reality you are watching the story of Freddie Mercury and Queen, not the Freddie Mercury story, which is, I think, what most people are expecting to see.
I was asked how I'm going to celebrate my birthday... well, the celebration is going to start with Red Velvet Cake and French Vanilla ice cream.  Then I'm going to pay a short visit to my Mom, who will not remember what today is.  Then the celebration will continue with an hour of cardio!  and a visit with friends.  My phone will stay sitting on the sideboard.  It started buzzing with birthday wishes about 20 minutes ago.  I will respond later.  Otherwise this will be pretty much the same routine except for the cake and ice cream.
