Bad Bunny Rocks

Tuesday has arrived.  The weather outside is a bit Fallish.  For some reason I slept late, until close to 0700, and that is unusual.  Normally I rise and shine around 0600.  This is what happens when you don't use an alarm clock.  And outside our temps are cool, sitting in the low 60s (F).  Forecasters are predicting a high in the low 80s (F).  I don't think that will be happening.  Tomorrow's high is only supposed to be in the low is only supposed to be in the low 70s (F), so I'm wagering that those cooler temps will be arriving sooner rather than later.

I always start doing the weeks laundry on Tuesday, and I'm proud to say that my first load is finishing up the wash cycle and ready to head into the spin cycle.  Because there is zero chance of precipitation, I'll be using my drying rack outside for several of today's loads of wash.  I'm going to take advantage of the fair weather for as long as it lasts.

And I did work yesterday.  A large sale went through in lumbar, probably a vast amount of plywood, somewhere around $38,000 worth, so the store had no problem making plan.  That's good news, though that type of sale is a rarity.  Also you need to keep in mind that one single day's sales do not make the week, and that sluggish sales over the next 6 days will still keep you from making your plan.

During yesterday's workout, I did squats, by far my least favorite exercise.  Having your quads scream in pain when you go up and down the stairs is by far the worst part of leg work.  However, I have to admit that so far today the discomfort is minimal, so something must be going right.

And as expected, white conservatives are losing their proverbial shit over Bad Bunny doing the Super Bowl's Half Time show.  Can you hear me laughing?

Now, I will readily admit to never having listened to his music.  This is because I listen to mostly alternative rock and roll, and we do tend to stick with our genres.  However, I did have to laugh at all of the white conservatives with so many of them shrieking he wasn't American.  How can they define their ignorance in such a blatant way?  Puerto Rico is an American Territory, so Puerto Ricans are born American Citizens.  I suspect that a large part of their problem is that he's outspoken about his dislike for the Orange Anus, and has called Orangie worse things than Anus.  Mostly his songs are in Spanish, though he does include English in some of them.  That's a big part of their problem.  I work with people whose own grasp of the English language is questionable at best, still that does not stop them from fuming angrily at others who have an accent.  The truth is that there are some white people who look for a reason to judge someone else as inferior, and skin color and language are two of their top reasons.

And is the government going to shut down?  Let's hope the Democrats have enough of a spine to force Orangie to crap in his diaper.  Republicans don't understand that with Orangie's approval rating already so low, this will end up being a losing ticket for them.  This, while being a bad thing, is a good thing.

This is Not Normal

 Okay, so our outside temp is 43 (F) and the forecast is for partly sunny skies this afternoon.  Yesterday's weather was pretty spot on to what had been predicted, so I'm guessing today's going to be a repeat, though only a bit warmer.

Sor some reason, yesterday was almost a meh kind of day.  I didn't seem to have much of a desire to do anything, though things were accomplished.  No workout, but the aquarium in the living room was cleaned, and I hung to old shutters on the front fence to protect the grape vine I planted last year.  This necessary since Howie loves to chew on both sticks, and vines, and even roots.  The shutters do not help with the curb appeal, but they do the job.  I'm more interested in functionality rather than impressing those few who walk by with their dogs.

One thing I did yesterday was thin out my oregano seedlings.  I had quite a few old glass candle holders sitting on a shelf down in the basement and decided to repurpose them as planters.  I'm hoping to keep one or two plants per glass.  They should look quite nice on the window sill once they're fully grown, and harvesting fresh oregano will be so easy.

And, for those of you who haven't been paying attention, Chuck Schumer and 8 other Democrats caved yesterday, voting to legitimize the Orange Anus's budget.  Chuck's excuse was that Orangie was already doing dirty deeds to as many Federal agencies as possible, and shutting down the government would not stop him.  So, instead of putting up roadblocks, Chuck legitimized Orangie's destruction.  Obviously, Chuck thinks he's dealing with "business, as usual," even though absolutely nothing is usual about what Orangie is doing.  Chuck in in his 70s, and has just made term limitations more relevant.  I get this feeling that Chuck doesn't want to upset the apple cart, when history has shown that Orangie is weak, and tends to fall apart when he has to deal with pushback.  Someone needs to pull Chuck aside and tell him to resign, the same way he did with Biden.  Chuck simply doesn't understand that this is not normal.

Plumb This

October has arrived.

Sunday has arrived!  The temps are supposed to climb up into the lower 80s (F).  I don't doubt there will be those out there calling it the beginning of Indian summer.  Wrong.  Indian summer happens after the first frost, which is when the temps drop down to around freezing, 32 (F).  That's probably not going to happen for at least a month... if it happens then.  Climate change, you know?  If this year is similar to the last 2 we're going to have a bit of a deep freeze in mid-to late December, possibly another 2 weeks of really cold temps in January, but the rest of the winter will be mild, at least for Central PA.

For those who don't know, today is Homemade Cookie Day.  Guess who is not going to be making any cookies?  I did completely debox the dishwasher this morning, and it looks as though I might be doing that install myself.  Yippee!  And it also looks as though I'll be doing the plumbing for the sink, as well.  I figure, if it can save me $400 why not.  I have done plumbing before.  I also have a somewhat Ace in the Hole, as Jon, the PT who's giving me PT advice on The Body in Motion, is also a plumbing specialist.  I guess I'll find out just how good he is.  At his suggestion, I've already bought some supplies.

And, as you all know, Congress avoided the dreaded shutdown again.  This was after Mitch McConnell said the Senate Republicans would not vote for the 45 day extension.  What is telling is that in the House of Representatives, Republicans voted with the Democrats to move this piece of legislation forward.  90 Republicans voted against it, including Green and Gaetz, voted against it.  When push came to shove, Centrist Republicans pushed back against the shoving crazies.  Their party is in disarray.  Chaos reigns.  Will these hardliners learn their lesson?  Nope.  These are the diehards of the "just say no," party, the ones who so desperately want to say "shut up! we're in charge."  Their end is nigh, brought on by the Spawn of Satan, Donald Trump.

This is reality

Today is Tuesday.  We are now over 1/3 of the way through winter.  The government shutdown continues.  It's day 31.  And, of course, the problem is the Republicans.  You see once again they made a very stupid assumption, in fact it's the same one they made back when Reagan had his landslide re-election.  After the Idiot Jerk managed to get elected (by a technicality), and with control of both the Senate and the House, they actually believed they would rule this country forever. Not only were they convinced this was the Holy Truth, they saw themselves as the lawgivers of the land.  If you didn't like the results of the election they smugly smiled and said "get over it."  However, a majority of Americans looked at their small minded beliefs and said, "shut up," and voted against them in the midterms.  They went from having a 23 seat majority in the House to being a 41 seat minority and this fact shatters what they so desperately want to believe, that they have been chosen.  They are totally clueless when it comes to compromising and the Idiot Jerk president they praise turns out to be the worst deal maker in history.  This is why they fail. Their failures will continue to grow.
I saw this in Towleroad regarding the school of hate run by a diocese in Kentucky.   You know, the one where students are taught to harass people of color, including our indigenous peoples, the ones who were here first.  It seems they also refused to let a gay valedictorian make his commencement speech... perhaps because he wanted to speak out in favor of gun control... or maybe it was because he was gay.  That alone should have educated people as to what type of diocese this is:  a right-wing hate group of the Republican Party.
And, of course, since it's Tuesday, my desk arrives today.  I was told between 11 - 2.  Well, I'm prepped.  The walks are shoveled and free of ice.  The kitchen table has been cleared.  Around 0800 it will be taken apart and placed on the porch for next week's garbage.  I tried giving it away but no one wanted it because it's old and sagging in the middle.  Or, maybe, instead of throwing it away, I might just break it apart and put the wood up on the hill behind my house where mother nature can do with it what she wants.
And finally, yesterday I was making notes about my current project and realized the house was rather silent, so I went looking.  What did I find?  Two dogs and a duck on the bed.

At least they kept the bedclothes kind of neat....

Well, here it is Sunday and the government is still shut down.  The screws are turning on the Idiot Jerk in the White House and his supporters because of his conflicting statements regarding DACA.  The funny thing is that his group of haters wants to kick this melon down the road... again, which is part of their problem - they don't know it's a melon, they think it's a ball, and if they keep kicking it down the road then they'll never have to deal with it.  Neither do they understand they are a minority group trying to appeal to a minority group of voters.
And speaking of voters, those in South Eastern PA may get their shot at another special election.  You see Roy Meehan has been removed from the House Ethics Committee after reports surfaced that he had demonstrated some rather unethical behavior.  Evidently he developed a crush on a younger, female aide, and then his ego couldn't accept rejection, which in turn led to a a 'payout' from his congressional office funds.  Why is it Conservative members of Congress can't seem to control their conservative members?
Anyway, for those who don't know, there was a walk yesterday - by women... and men, but mostly women protesting the Idiot Jerk in the White House.

Hundreds and hundreds of thousands of women were involved, yet I was amused to see some Thimbelina headed Republican woman whining on Facebook how "minuscule" these numbers were.  Evidently she has no conception of the correlation between the percentage of people who protest and those who feel the same way, but chose to stay home.  And we're not talking little numbers here, not with 600,000 in LA, 300,000 in Chicago, and other large crowds in Washington, New York,  Philadelphia... and a host of other cities.  If yesterday's protesters represent just 10% of all the women who hate the Idiot Jerk... well, we're talking about millions, and millions, and millions... and that's one hell of a voting block.  These numbers are something all of those Social Conservatives who feel women are meant to be baby factories will never understand.
