Time Constraints

Short one today because I'll be leaving the house early for my MRI.  Time constraints.  I usually work very well with them.  

Baked a loaf of my delicious Italian bread yesterday; love that stuff.  However, I also bought, and ate, a pumpkin roll with cream cheese frosting.  That's right, the whole thing.  Damn.  I am going to blow up like a house.  We need to get this back fixed fast.

I went to see Venom last evening.  I liked it a lot, and not just because Tom Hardy stars, though his acting skills do bring a tenor of legitimacy to the super hero roll.  The bit surprise was Woody Harrelson.  Holy Crap!  I haven't seen a serial killer played with such pathos since Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs.  It's PG-13, so there's not 'F' bombs, but there is pretty much action / violence.  I might have to rent this baby and watch it again.

 

Michael Beschloss posted a funny Tweet.  I need to learn how to copy Tweets and post them here.  Since I can't, as of yet, I'll paraphrase:  "Oh my, someone has just been kicked off the list of the 400 richest people in the world.  I guess this means his aides are going to be playing a lot of show songs."

Rattle, rattle

Here it is, Sunday, my first day off of 3 in a row and I'm sure a lot of you are thinking I slept in... well, I didn't.  Too much to do.  Besides, sleeping in can turn into a bad habit.  So far I have paid some bills, am in the process of finishing up my first load of laundry, and spent an hour doing research.  Rattle snakes, you know?  Diamondbacks.  Did you know you will start to feel the symptoms of a rattlesnake bite almost immediately after being bitten?  I don't mean the pain of being bitten, but rather the symptoms of the venom.  Also, and this I found amazing, the venom does not travel through your blood stream.  Nope, it circulates through your lymphatic system.  This actually improves your chances of survival since it moves much slower than if it traveled through your blood stream.  It turns out I know someone who's been... snake bit.  One of the most fascinating things I've learned about Diamondbacks, in fact it's true with all rattlers, is that they don't always rattle before striking... that's a myth.  Sometimes they warn you... but not always.  That's right, you don't always get this:

And evidently Mike Fuckabee was so rattled by a CNN reported who basically claimed his daughter, Sarah Fuckabee Slanders, was a lying sack of shit.  The truth is both of these MAGA heads have sold their souls to the Idiot Jerk in the White House in order to get the power they so sinfully crave.
Speaking of the Idiot Jerk.  I suspect the internal GOP polls have him more than a little rattled.  They paint a bleak picture of what Americans think of the Moral Degenerate in the White House.  That picture's going to get worse because starting today India is putting tariffs on almonds and apples.  In case you didn't know, India is our largest importer of almonds and apples. You see, the Idiot Jerk thought India would cave... and they didn't.  How rattled is the Idiot Jerk?  He Tweeted out (I think it was a Tweet) some sort of nonsense yesterday about the stock market crashing if he doesn't get re-elected.  This guy's a moron.

Tom Eats Bad Men

Well, here it is Wednesday, and I get to go back to work for one day.  I'm off tomorrow.  How cool is that?
I saw someone gave "The Body on the Lawn" a good review.  The funny thing is that every time I pick it up I see problems and mistakes.  It's almost as bad as seeing 'dead people.'  They're everywhere.  Fortunately most of them are in my head.
So, Subaru has this thing called Starlink which is their version of Onstar.  I've had the option of purchasing Onstar in the past and never did; the benefits offered did not justify the cost.  I did upgrade the Starlink to their 2nd level package for 3 years.  If at the end of that time I find it was a waste of money, I'll either downgrade or get rid of it completely.
And the new coffee maker arrived yesterday.  Very nice.  Fast.  And the coffee is hot rather than lukewarm.  While the old one hasn't been thrown out yet, it will be shortly, except possibly for the carafe.  I might be able to turn it into an interesting planter.
I saw "Venom" last night.  What a mish-mash.  Tom Hardy has some really good moments as Eddie Brock... however, he's dealing with a symbiot who, over the course of the film, tends to become cartoonish.  Riz Ahmed plays a nice, cool villain even though you never really get a chance to see that spark of insanity which makes him bad. 

The problem here is that Venom is a dark character.  He eats people.  Men are on the menu.  That's right, Tom eats men.  Bad men.  The producers and writers are desperately trying to make Venom into a nice guy.  He has the one-liners people laugh at, not Tom.  Perhaps because Tom, himself, while pretty to look at, is not that important, which is why the movie is called "Venom," and not "Eddie Brock."
And, of course, the Stock Market is in a slow decline.  It loses a lot, gains a bit back, loses more.  I'm waiting for the Idiot Jerk in the White House to tell people they need to look at their 401k's.  The last time I had check mine it had lost about $5 since April.  And he's doing what he always does, what all Republicans have done since the dawn of time, blame someone else.  The truth is he's not really that good of a businessman.  The country is learning this... slowly.
