The outside temp was a cool 48 (F) when I woke up this morning. I had the heat set at 69 (F) was not surprised to hear it turn on while I was cooking up my barley breakfast. There are freeze warnings out for tonight, however, according to Accuweather, the lowest our temperature will get is 39 (F). That's 7 degrees above freezing. Maybe they're just being cautious.
And yesterday was one of those odd days. Some things were done, like laundry, but not enough for me to say the day was a total success. I did my Wednesday morning workout in, paid some bills. Dinner was a beef stewy thing I threw together in the crock pot. But looking back on it, I'm wondering where the hours went.
Today feels like it should be Saturday, but it's Thursday and I have to work this afternoon. My new schedule was posted yesterday and it does appear as though I'm back to working 22 hours a week. That's fine.
I did get some words written, but not as many as I'd have liked. If it weren't for the shit show going on the country, I'd say I might have a mild case of writer's block. Unfortunately, there is the shit show and like many Americans, I'm watching it anxiously.
Anyway this popped up in my Facebook feed yesterday, my only ride in a helicopter. I'm flying back to my ship. I truly disliked it. For those of you who have never ridden in a Navy helicopter, they are extremely loud, even with the sound proofing headphones. To this day, hearing a helicopter simply grates me.

This is a capitalist, consumerist country. Money and greed rule over anything and everybody. That is why Cheeto is president. That's why the Broligarchs rule.
ReplyDeleteIt's very simple.
XOXO
Another reason he's president is because a lot of fools believe his lies and think he's going to share the billionaire wealth.
DeleteYour morning sounds brisk and cozy—with the heat kicking in and a big bowl of barley breakfast, you’re set for whatever the day brings. That helicopter photo is wild! Hoping your writer’s block fades soon and that calmer days are ahead despite all the chaos in the news.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I really hate the sound of helicopters, and the book is getting written.
DeleteThey have never understood that they cannot take the $$$$$ with them.
ReplyDeleteAnd because of modern medicine they can live to be quite old thinking only of thinking the lifeblood of the common man.
DeleteI haven't turned the heat on yet. but then again, I'm hot blooded. Hell , the windows are still open here.
ReplyDeleteI closed mine last night.
DeleteThe only time I've ever been in a helicopter was on the island of St. Lucia. The weather was perfect and the scenery spectacular - and I hated it! I think I was expecting a Chinook and what I got was a flying baked bean can!
ReplyDeleteGood analogy. Perhaps if it hadn't been so loud I might have fonder memories.
DeleteI broke down and turned on my furnace this morning as my inside temperature was 54F and outside is 45F in Toronto. I know how you feel about helicopters as my house is under the flight path of them coming to the hospital a couple of blocks away. We are also under the flight path of planes going into Toronto airport so sometimes planes two minutes apart. Other planes overfly my house in the middle of the night. I only got four hours of sleep last night and tonight being Friday the hospital will be busy, so maybe another loud night. I hate the sound of the ambulances too. I was going to say happy thanksgiving but yours isn’t this weekend. Gigi
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving! Before I bought my house I lived in an apartment that was under the flight path for Harrisburg International. Those planes were so low! And Loud!
