Viruses don't have Brains.

So, I slept in this morning.  It's the first of my 4 days off in a row, 2 of which are vacation days.  I have a lot of chores planned.  There are black tulips down the side of the house which have stopped blooming.  They are going to be replaced by gladiolas, what's called the pastel collection (purples, whites and pinks).   Of course, I have rosebuds galore.  I'm now using a mixture of water and very fine sulfur in a pump sprayer to keep the dreaded 'black spot' at bay.  The same mixture will be used on the peach and nectarine trees.  I also want to get in a bike ride.  Today's will be inside, but I'm planning on taking the X6 off the wall, pumping up the tires, and taking it out on the road now while traffic is still thin.

I saw where tribes in South Dakota are standing up the their Republican governor.  She wants them to stop the checkpoints they've set up leading into their reservations.  She doesn't give a shit if they live or die, but then she's a Republican, so what else is new?  We need to vote her out of office and maybe put her in jail for 'Crimes against Humanity.'
Billy Barr's dismissal of the charges against Mike Flynn has a lot of voices up in arms, Democrat and Republican.  Remember, he's going to do everything the Idiot Jerk in the White House wants, no matter how bad it looks.  That's why he got the job.  At this point, a major majority of Americans realize his ethics were superficial at best.  The bitter truth for him will be when he finds out he's been worshiping a minority president who will throw him to the wolves the minute things turn bad... which is going to be any minute now.
And I saw where the Idiot Jerk in the White House again cut short a briefing yesterday because he didn't like the questions.  I do not doubt that as time goes on, he will rely more and more on the Cracker Jack Conservative media outlets to get his message to his base.  The body counts keeps rising, they're talking about a 2nd wave much sooner than later, and his message is that 'we prevailed.'  His radicalized base believes him.  They have no clue that the first wave took out the most vulnerable, the 2nd wave is aiming for those who don't wear masks, who don't practices Social Distancing, who think brandishing a gun is going to scare Covid - 19.  They don't understand this virus is smarter than they are... and viruses don't have brains.

Spring Harvest

Late post today because... I have a cold, of sorts.  It started yesterday with pressure on both sides of my throat, not really tender, and as the day wore on I could feel that steady drip, drip, drip.  Around 2 in the morning I got up and gargled, that helped a little.  When I called off sick the manager didn't know who I was, he said "Dave in flooring?"  This is how it goes sometimes.  Anyway, I went back to bed, waking up around 0830 - which means I slept for almost 12 hours....  Now, my throat doesn't bother me so much, though I can tell my voice still sounds like something from a horror movie.  Oh, and there's still a lot of pressure still building in my sinus cavities.  Sometime, probably this morning, that log jam will bust open and I will experience 3 or 4 days of some serious drainage.  What's irritating is that I had one of these things 8 or 9 months ago.  Damn!
Somehow I managed to buy an extra pound of almonds, so I make bake cookies today.  Since I might still be contagious I might have to eat all of them... myself.  I don't really know if that's such a bad thing.
I saw where Flynn's sentencing was delayed after the judge called his actions treasonous... he said something like for all intents and purposes, Flynn was a "traitor to his country."  Pay close attention to his words.  They are gearing up for the spawn of the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  I suspect the boys are going to get a little bit more than a good spanking.
Oh, and the Idiot Jerk back off his demand for money to pay for his racist border wall.  Just like a spoiled loser he whined something like "there's other ways I can get that $5 billion."  No doubt he means through some illegal money laundering scam, or maybe he's talking about getting a high interest loan from his friends in Moscow.
And finally a bit about seeds.  I have this habit of saving seeds.  Anytime I cut up a fruit or a vegetable I usually end up setting a few seeds aside.  Last year I grew and harvested acorn squash because of this habit.  Well, the other day I stuck two seeds in a planter and voila!

I think they might be butternut squash, but I can't be sure.  I've moved them to a place where they get  full sun most of the day.  Wouldn't that be awesome?  Harvesting butternut squash in my kitchen!

My free weights took longer this morning, added in some rows, upright and standing, and so I'm running in mite bit late.
Saw this hugely funny article this AM about the Idiot in the White House.  Is this administration as close to the brink as a majority of this country thinks?  I suspect so.  I like the part where Mike Flynn says that if 'you ask for immunity then you're guilty.'  Ha ha.  Bet he never thought those words would come back to chew on his ass.
I as expecting my legs to be sore last evening... that was not the case.  Not that I'm afraid of soreness.  I remember once my Mom telling me that if you work out and you're sore afterwards you did something wrong.  She hates pain.  She never understood that some muscle soreness after usually indicates you did something right.
In a little over two weeks I'm off for 5 days.  I have a lot planned, including yard work.  We have pavers on sale... unfortunately they're not as cheap as they were last year.  This year's sale price is $1.56, last year's was $1.37. that's a big difference, in fact, one my actually say that it was a huge, huge difference... Shit, I've got to stop using that word sarcastically.  Ha ha

And I ran, I ran so far away

... well, it wasn't really so far away, only .8 of a mile, and it was more of a jog than a run, and my legs actually survived.  They're a little achy now, but I suppose that's to be expected.  I learned a couple of things, too:  music is important, I decided to listen to the Fallout 4 soundtrack... it wasn't until about 13 minutes into it, when you start killing things, that there's enough percussion to set a pace which isn't good; Treadmill 9 is the one I prefer; the guy with the mustache looks good in a tan towel.
And isn't it nice to see that another ring has opened up in the Trumpalooza Circus, Mike Flynn wants immunity.  Remember when this guy was leading chants to "lock her up?"  This is worse than the heights of hypocrisy.  And you know the only reason the Idiot in the White House fired him was because one of his advisers told him to, which I find tremendously funny.  My feeling is that this Idiot is going to make Nixon look like a alter boy.  I wonder if Mikey realizes that if this were Russia he'd have been poisoned a long time ago by some rare radioactive isotope?  In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he's not only asking for immunity, but for round the clock protection for himself and his family.

My brother is trying to get some people together for a white water rafting trip... in July.  I didn't tell him, but that in July you'll most likely be floating on tubes rather than shooting rapids.  We don't really have decent rapids in this state, so the intensity of the rapids is totally dependent upon the spring runoff, and, of course, this past winter we didn't have a lot of snow, except for one storm.  I told him I'd do a day trip.  He'd like to turn this into a three day extravaganza, ain't going to happen with me.
