I am now halfway through my work week.  I'm excited.  Can you tell?
I did have to suffer through a bit of a catastrophe yesterday.  The wrist band on my Fenix 3 began falling apart.  There's no chance of it falling off my wrist, but it now flops a little bit.  I ordered a new one that's supposed to arrive tomorrow, army green.
After a day off the bike, I did put in some mileage yesterday as well, 14 to be exact.  The San Remo Cycleway, considered to be the 'best cycling path ever.'

Bicycles only

There are 3 lanes: two for bicycles and one for pedestrians, no traffic for over 14 miles.  Loverly.  this was the 4th time I've done this ride, which means Strava has started ranking my times.  After logging in over 16,000 steps at work, my legs felt a bit slow and I thought I was going to do poorly.  Wrong.  Fastest time ever, by 34 seconds with an average speed of 17.8 mph (.3 faster than the 3 early rides).  I was happy.  

If you want to look for them, there are pics of the Idiot Jerk in the White House wearing a face mask as he toured the Ford plant in Michigan.  His was black, of course, covering his mouth of doom.

He also said if there's a bit spike in Covid - 19 this fall the country is not going to shut down (I don't think I need to repeat that for you).  He needs the economy to be booming if he wants to get re-elected.  An interesting read in the NYT opined that Covid - 19 has done brutal damage to his campaign.  For him the economy has always been the key to another 4 years, so he downplayed the virus.  Bad mistake, but then he has a history of bad business management.  By the time his team realized the seriousness of his mistake it was too late, and then he made another bad business decision:  he was going to turn the daily briefings into mini-rallies to celebrate his successes.  People turned in for the science, not the Ego.  The more he talked, the more people realized he was a dumb fuck.  His only choice was to pivot back to the failing economy.  That's a no win situation for him.  Since his odds of getting re-elected are in slow motion freefall, he's going to go pedal to the medal.  He doesn't care how many die, without the economy his ass is grass and the American Voters are going to mow him down.

Finally, a bit of fluff on Alexexandria McCabe (aka Tara Reade).  And the NYT is reporting that there's no record of her obtaining a Bachelors Degree under either alias at Antioch University, in fact, that learning establishment is refuting her claim.  For years she provided 'expert' opinions in domestic abuse cases and now many of those rulings are now in jeopardy.  Her shit storm is just beginning.  Lawsuits will be filed.

Early Desperation

Remember when today was called Hump Day, middle of the work week for some of you out there, until Covid - 19 and you began working from home.  My, how things have changed for a number of people, not for me however.  My hours may have shifted somewhat, but I've been going in to work every scheduled work day since this thing began.  For those of you who had problems with the Stay at Home orders, now you know you need to get a Part-Time Job at a Home Improvement store prior to the next pandemic.
Bad news for the Idiot Jerk - Stevie Mnunchin says the unemployment rate has not peaked. 
Prepare yourselves, from what I've been reading, with the economy in a slump that will last until sometime in 2021, and the fact that he didn't care how many died from Covid - 19 as long as he wasn't one of them, the Idiot Jerk is seeing "Obamagate" as the only sure way of getting his sagging, orange ass re-elected.  Well, that ain't going to work.  Sure, the rabid MAGA heads who worship at his feet will suck that down faster than a free Wild Cherry slurpee from 7 -11, all it's going to do in the end is give them brain freeze.  Of course, that would mean they actually had a functioning brain.
What's even more interesting is that his re-election campaign is buying up $18.6 million in ad space, much of that being spent in Florida, and it's only May.  Sure, there are those who will say "he's got the buckos in the bank, so why not," but it's May.  Biden, on the other hand, is spending about $3.6 million, because it's only May and the election is 6 months away.  Trying to shore up his base, perhaps, and so early in the season?  I'm catching a whiff of  the new Republican scent, "Early Desperation."  I'm sure, if you like cloying, overly sweet perfumes, with more than a hint of sewage, I'm sure this one will be for you.
No cycling tonight.  It's going to be a rest day for the legs, after 8 days and almost 99 miles.

His Little Nazi Boys

It's Monday and I have the day off.  Then I'm scheduled to work for 5 days in a row, 8 hours a day, 40 hours altogether.  Getting back to a normal life will be interesting.  Three weeks later they have me back to my 8 - 1 schedule, and the following week I believe I scheduled some vacation time for myself.
Yesterday one of my fellow associates called off so I was by myself until the closing associate showed up at 1:30 PM.  I was busy.  No wackos.  No assholes.  Time when very fast.
I was talking to my friend Betsy last evening and I asked her who Lara Tramp was, I mean I knew she was a Tramp by marriage but I didn't know if she was one of those Tramps who was married, and then divorced but still considered herself a Tamp.  Not that it makes a wit of difference, once a Tramp always a Tramp. I saw where she was being supportive of Tara Reade, who is also a tramp but not by marriage... yet.  I do not doubt Tara has aspirations to be an Upper Class Tramp.
During our discussion, I pointed out that in regard to Covid - 19 and couples, married or otherwise, when one is infected it's almost a sure thing their partner, spouse, or what ever... roomie even, ends up getting infected as well.  Viruses like when you sleep together, you know?  Don't you fine it interesting that Stevie Miller's pretty new wife shows symptoms and test positive and little Stevie doesn't?  I do.  Of course, one can not help but think about the Idiot Jerk's poor valet, a strapping sailor-man he doesn't know, who also tested positive a few days earlier...  Hhhmm.  And they're the only 2 with symptoms who have tested positive in the West Wing.  Could Stevie's marriage be one of... convenience?  I, for one, would not be surprised if he was far more interested in his little Nazi boys.
And I have baby peaches!

And baby nectarines, as well.  My cucumber seeds have sprouted as well.  Yum.  And tomatoes, too.

Viruses don't have Brains.

So, I slept in this morning.  It's the first of my 4 days off in a row, 2 of which are vacation days.  I have a lot of chores planned.  There are black tulips down the side of the house which have stopped blooming.  They are going to be replaced by gladiolas, what's called the pastel collection (purples, whites and pinks).   Of course, I have rosebuds galore.  I'm now using a mixture of water and very fine sulfur in a pump sprayer to keep the dreaded 'black spot' at bay.  The same mixture will be used on the peach and nectarine trees.  I also want to get in a bike ride.  Today's will be inside, but I'm planning on taking the X6 off the wall, pumping up the tires, and taking it out on the road now while traffic is still thin.

I saw where tribes in South Dakota are standing up the their Republican governor.  She wants them to stop the checkpoints they've set up leading into their reservations.  She doesn't give a shit if they live or die, but then she's a Republican, so what else is new?  We need to vote her out of office and maybe put her in jail for 'Crimes against Humanity.'
Billy Barr's dismissal of the charges against Mike Flynn has a lot of voices up in arms, Democrat and Republican.  Remember, he's going to do everything the Idiot Jerk in the White House wants, no matter how bad it looks.  That's why he got the job.  At this point, a major majority of Americans realize his ethics were superficial at best.  The bitter truth for him will be when he finds out he's been worshiping a minority president who will throw him to the wolves the minute things turn bad... which is going to be any minute now.
And I saw where the Idiot Jerk in the White House again cut short a briefing yesterday because he didn't like the questions.  I do not doubt that as time goes on, he will rely more and more on the Cracker Jack Conservative media outlets to get his message to his base.  The body counts keeps rising, they're talking about a 2nd wave much sooner than later, and his message is that 'we prevailed.'  His radicalized base believes him.  They have no clue that the first wave took out the most vulnerable, the 2nd wave is aiming for those who don't wear masks, who don't practices Social Distancing, who think brandishing a gun is going to scare Covid - 19.  They don't understand this virus is smarter than they are... and viruses don't have brains.

Be Still my Happy Feet

Well, it's Saturday, for those of you who don't know.  I do go in to work today just as I did yesterday which had its moments bordering on absurd.  Seriously.  Early in my shift I was helping our aisle supervisor put new rolls of vinyl on our in carry out vinyl display - they're 12 feet long and heavy.  He complained about how the job was taking up too much of his time.  I asked how his back was and he said "it's fine."  And I said, "I feel really good." And I was getting a little happy rush.  My elation lasted most of the morning.  Then there was the large woman (I'm being polite) I found sitting at the flooring desk who was looking for a designer.  She was had on a fluffy green scarf that kept falling down instead of a mask.  She had bought border mosaic for a back splash a number of years ago and only now realized she was 2 short and want me to come up with a fix for her outdated tile.  She sniffled in irritation when I told her that was impossible.  Yes, she's one of those.  When I finally got her out of there I disinfected heavily... thoroughly might be considered an understatement.  That's when I found out the supervisor I'd been helping earlier went home... he'd pulled some muscles in his back.  I also found out the reason for my elation - Katie Miller, wife of the white supremacist Stevie Miller had tested positive for Covid - 19.  Everyone in the West Wing has now, either directly or indirectly, been exposed.  Be still my happy feet!
Tara Reade has decided that since Democrats did not embrace her lies, she's leaving the party.  Will someone get that failure of a human being a red hat!  Be still my Happy Feet.
And evidently in a way too lengthy interview with Fox News, the Idiot Jerk revealed his new campaign slogan, I'm not responsible."  With a major majority of Americans concerned about the rush to reopen and only Republican officials rushing headfirst into chaos, who in hell is going to believe that besides Tara Reade?  He says he's going to make America Great Again... when?  When the death toll his 150,000.  This man is truly and Idiot.  What's he going to do if Stevie Miller gets sick?  That's a very likely scenario... unless there are no connubial relations between Stevie and Katie.  Or fat Billy Barr?  That lard ass might not survive.  Be still my Happy Feet.

Making fudge

Yesterday turned out to be one of those odd days.  Usually, I sleep in on my first day off - yesterday I didn't thinking I could get so much accomplished.  I was speeding along my 'to do' list until it started to rain... earlier than I had been expecting.  Suddenly everything slowed down and I felt like I ought to take a nap.  The dogs love it when I take naps, though doing so scratches things off my list.  I did get to my local Giant supermarket, still no cleaners or disinfectants so I guess MAGA heads must still juicin' up with Mr. Clean in the back bedroom.  Lots of paper products.  I bought meat (chicken... and that other white meat) since they say it's going to get pricey as hell.  Something you can count on, every time there's a pandemic someone feels they need to make a buck. I sliced 2 heads of cabbage real thing and tarted my sauerkraut (yes, I make homemade sauerkraut).

Not so surprising, the Coronavirus Task Force is still on because (hold on to your hats people) the Idiot Jerk in the White House said he had no idea it was so popular.  This is the same individual who 2 weeks ago was bragging about his ratings.  Oh, wait, let me palm myself in the forehead, he actually thought all those people were watching because of... sorry, I can't even say it.  That idea is simply so ludicrous.

And rumors are beginning to abound that the Idiot Jerk will make some attempt at deligitimatizing death tolls.  He looks bad, you know?  At first he said we were only going to lose about 60,000, but then it became 100,000 by June, and then maybe as many as 135,000.  The only high numbers he likes are those related to the stock market.  Body counts? Damn, they make him look really bad.  Frankly, he may try, but he will not succeed.  Inquiring minds want to know.  Fudging the statistics will hurt his approval ratings even more.  Just like Covid - 19's changing timeline hurts his accusation that it came from a lab in Wuhan.  It's seems as though this virus has been floating around for quite some time.  In late December, a Parisian was already infected, and individual who had not left the country, proving there was Community Spread that early in the pandemic.  Don't worry, the Idiot Jerk will try and cook up some sort of fudgy lie to cover that truth.

Finally, what are my plans for today, now that the sun is shining?  some outdoor work.  If the grass is dry enough, I may try and mow it.  While I, myself, would love to make some fudge... the calorie count would mean a four hundred mile bike ride... tomorrow.  In case you're wondering, this is what my training calendar looked like in April.  Not bad, eh?  Shit, it see these new Blogger changes don't let the whole thing fit.  Well, you get the idea.  I rode 255 miles in April.  If you click on the date it should take you to my Strava account for more detailed information.

Whiplash!

For those who use Blogger, there have been some subtle changes.  I am always surprised how they fail to give any sort of notification as to how the changes work, not that they're difficult to figure out.  I just wish there was some sort of 'warning.'

Yesterday was one of those... odd days.  One of my 'specialist' associates called off, which meant I was alone until the closing 'specialist' arrived at 1330.  Customers are feeling more comfortable with their masks, so they're waiting in line to talk about having flooring installed. Most of them are older.  That's right.  Outside of Harrisburg, this is a Conservative area, lots of Republicans.  They do not pay attention to warnings, and infection maps, and definitely lack common sense.  The infection rate in Cumberland County is still climbing, as is the death toll.  I can tell you, these people have no clue.

Yesterday was also odd in that I felt a bit tired - 7 days of going to the store, you know?  And when I got home, instead of going for a bike ride, I made linguine.  Pasta.  Carbohydrate hell.  I love it and hate it.  All I ended up doing was a couple of loads of laundry and playing "Doom Eternal."  I'm getting really good at killing off those damn demons.

Oh, and in case you didn't notice, the Idiot Jerk was in Arizona at a factory which makes face masks.  Can we talk about a quick pivot here?  Whiplash

 The Coronavirus Task Force will be gone in about a month because of its failure to grow his approval ratings.  Remember, this buffoon is a Reality Star and if the show he's in doesn't garner him the positive ratings he craves, it gets cancelled.  The only thing he has up his sleeve is the Economy.  Now he's vaguely saying we will need to accept some losses, but then losses were never a problem for him.  This is the same Idiot who asked why we just didn't let the virus 'wash' over the country taking out as many as it needed.  And the great economy he brags about was built on Executive Orders which eliminated rules and regulations meant to keep workers safe, to keep corporations from taking unfair advantage of employees and insure they had certain rights, and to protect the environment.    Investors loved this shit and bought heavily.  He and his Party rewrote the tax code so Corporations and Wealthy individuals made out like bandits while the middle and lower classes got little, and again Investors loved this and drove Wall Street higher.  Whiplash!  So he's turning to the one thing he believes can get him re-elected:  the economy.  Remember, he's the one who said you can even 'go to work' if you become infected.  He even issued an Executive Order in an attempt to force meat packing plants to stay open without understanding people don't want someone with Covid - 19 handling their pork chops or grinding their hamburger.  He has a total disregard for human life.  This is why his pivot is going to fail... badly.  The infection rates are still going up and people are still being hospitalized and dying.  This dumb shit thinks that if he doesn't talk about it, no one is going to care.

November approaches.  Vote Blue.   And then let's put this sucker in jail without a phone.d

Glen Blooms!

Well, today is Tuesday and I'm working my 7th day in this schedule.  I have off tomorrow and Thursday, yippee... oh, wait, the forecast for tomorrow is for on and off again rain, with a high of 50 (F).  I might have to do something like a really long bike ride since I'm not going to be able to do anything much outside.
I did sign a customer up for a measure yesterday.  She and her husband had just closed on a new townhouse, and, of course, she asked "how soon can we have this installed?  By the end of the month?"  I told her that was a good time frame.  Guarantee nothing.  One of my fellow sales specialists set up a measure over the phone and did just that; there are going to be problems with that job.
In case you hadn't realized it yet, this little Covid - 19 is going to be with us for a while.  I think back on that supposed 'medic' who got angry and scolded me "this is going to be gone by the 18th."  I suspect he go that from the Idiot Jerk in the White House, a less than human individual who has no regard for human life.  This is evidenced by the casualty predictions, which once again beginning to rise as is shown in this document.  Remember when the CDC was predicting  we were going to lose 60,000 lives?  Well, they've up'd their prediction, in case you didn't know.  Now they're saying 100,000 by June 1 with almost 3000 more a day.  Do the math and you'll see they're low-balling that number.
Why, you ask?  Conservatives want to ease restrictions and get people back to work in a very unsafe environment.  It's about the buckos in the bank, you know?  This is the Republican version of Clinton's "it's the economy, stupid," except they're going to kill people.  And they're going to lose a lot of votes along the way.  Those very people who love the Idiot Jerk in the White House are running around without masks, they're not practicing safe distancing, and he's encouraging their behavior. He doesn't care if they live or die, as long as they go back to work.  What neither he nor they understand is that a vast majority of the country would rather focus on health and safety rather than dollars and cents.  We all know the economy is going to come back... it always has, the recovery is just not going to be as fast as he and they want it to be.  Tough Shit.
And... finally... yesterday as I was heading to my car I saw something amazing.  Glen is blooming!  And it looks like he... she... it is wearing a little green hat!

Republicans Resort to Human Sacrifice

Well, here it is Wednesday.  I know it as my 2nd sequential day off.  Tomorrow I'll head back to work for 4 days before my second set of sequential days off.  I looked at my schedule yesterday and saw that on 5/10 I'm working as a Garden Cashier.  I get paid really, really well to work as a cashier.
I baked bread yesterday and it is delish.  I also went to Giant.  I might return this morning since I forgot to ad a few things to my list.
Gallup put a little bit of a wake-up call for America yesterday.  A very large % of Americans are concerned about their health and going back to work too soon.  The Idiot Jerk in the White House?  His ratings are continuing to slide.  Only 34% of Americans think he, and his administration, are handling this crisis well.  His allies know this is how you lose an election very badly.  This is why the Republicans are jumping on the "we need to go back to work" bandwagon.  Since he has already failed at handling the Covid - 19 pandemic, the Idiot Jerk needs a robust economy.  He needs something to point to in order to crow "look what I've done."  What they've actually done is choose to sacrifice lives in order to try and kick start the economy.  They believe your average American will say, "it was worth Grampa's life to get the Idiot Jerk re-elected."  That's what this is all about.  Republicans are going to sacrifice human beings in an attempt to get the Idiot Jerk another 4 years in the White House.  Starting today, if you live in Georgia, you can get a tattoo, or your hair cut.  Think about that.  How often does your barber, or your stylist touch your head?  And if they're wearing gloves, keep in mind that latex does not kill Covid - 19.  The infection rate in Georgia is still climbing, it has not peaked.  Republicans see that as rather unimportant.  It's okay if people get sick and die as long as a segment of the population can back to spending money.

Hello! It's me!

So it's Tuesday and I started my weekend last evening by doing 3 loads of laundry.  Very nice.  There are supposedly very heavy storms headed our way this afternoon... will have to wait and see just how heavy.  The last time storms were forecast we had a 15 minute squall line with occasional spotty deluge.  Nothing to write home about, if you know what I mean.
There were protests in Harrisburg yesterday.  I didn't see any of it since I don't watch cable.  Maddie saw some images on CNN.  The less attention these yocals get the better it is for the country.  I find it interesting that a number of these protests are being supported by the De Vos family.  That right, that Cracker Jack Christian Betsy De Vos, she with the helmet hair, has no problem sending people out to get infected.  This should come as no surprise since the family made it's money from the king of all Pyramid Schemes known as Amway.
I saw this morning the tinfoil dictator wanna be is going to is one his Executive Orders to stop all immigration.  This is because the virus is spreading in high interest destination points for immigrants... like Nebraska.  Is that right?  Of course not, he's just throwing a bone to his xenophobic base.  Immigrants are just one more target on his Spinning Wheel Blame Game. 
Southern states are dropping their restrictions and starting to send people back to work even though the experts say it is way to soon.  This shouldn't surprise you since there are a lot of minorities in Georgia, and Tennessee, and South Carolina.  Covid - 19 is tough on minorities, however it's also true in likes Crackers.  The Idiot Jerk's bib is covered with Cracker Crumbs.  You see, he doesn't care who lives or dies.  Believe me when I tell you he is more concerned about our crumbling economy than human life.
Yesterday was the first day we had to wear a mask or face covering at some time while working.  I suspect this will become the norm until they develop either a cure or a vaccine.  I wore my cute little tube bandanna.  I received a lot of compliments.  So much so, I ordered three more, in different colors and patterns of course. Just because you need to wear a face covering doesn't mean you can't be stylish.  And what makes these tube bandannas far superior to the standard N95 mask is they let you go completely incognito!  No one will know who you are.

The Price for being a Protester

Sunday, because of Social Distancing, is going to actually be a day of rest for some, but not as many as you think.  Take me, for example, I get to go in and work.   Not being the religious type, working on Sunday doesn't bother me.  Normally the store is slow until around noon, then we usually get the after church crowd, of course Covid - 19 has eliminated attendance for most.  We will have to see how today shakes out.
We now have Plexiglas spit guards at all registers, the Service Desk, and the paint desk.  Employees feel much safer.  They are a large, visible reminder we're dealing with a serious issue.   Conservatives don't like them, but the Conservatives don't wear face masks either.  I had a very large customer in the Flooring department yesterday who told me the numbers were wrong, they weren't nearly as high as the media was saying.  He referenced Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida, not wearing a mask when he gave his coronavirus update.  I desperately wanted to say "Hey, Fat Boy, you're in a very high risk category.  You need to take this seriously," but I didn't.  I chose decorum over trying to educate this oaf.
In fact, if you look at a those protesters complaining, a lot of them seem to be on the jowly side.  And really, if you boil down their complaints there is just one thing that stands out.  These are selfish people who hate control.  They want to do what they want.  Personally, I think we should let the Idiot Jerk have his way, let his base gather together, and infect together, and when they start dying together they're going to say "Oh, Shit."  In fact, those might be their 2 last words as they become less vote he can tally in the fall.
Speaking of protesters, we had some at the store yesterday.  Not in the store, per se, but in the parking lot across the street.  As I left work, I saw 7 pickup trucks parked diagonally.  The last one was flying a large blue flat with the Idiot Jerk's name on it.  No one was gathering around them.  Everybody was driving past.  While the media may be talking about them, keep in mind they are a very, very small group of people making a lot of noise.  In 2 weeks, when the states begin relaxing their restrictions, what are they going to protest?  The body count is not going to stop.  Social distancing is going to stay in place.  And they will, slowly get sick.  This is the price of being one of the Idiot Jerk's protesters.  This is how evolution works.
It's cold right now.  My outdoor thermometer show a temp of 31 (F) and that's not going to be good for my tulips.  When I got home from work yesterday one of them had either snapped off because of the wind... or, a bunny had chewed away the stem.  Remember,  I live in bunny hell.  Any way, I brought it inside and stuck it in some water. and it opened up.  Here's one of my tulips.

Greece kicks Covid - 19's ass

Well, it's Saturday.  Ho... hum.
I do get to go into work again today.  Yesterday I was on the door for most of my 5 hours.  I only had 1.5 assholes to deal with... well maybe 1.75 assholes.  One man in a red coat (no MAGA hat) complained about people being "afraid they're going to get sick," because we're only allowing 100 in the store at a time.  Another man in his early 50's looked at the signs notifying customers that as of Monday everyone needed to wear some for of face mask and shook his head angrily.  And one Asian man said "there's no line at Lowes.  They're letting everybody in the store."  My response.  "Well, then go to Lowes and get infected."  He and his friend stayed in line.  Of the approximately 250 people I dealt with, the vast majority were fine.  Some said "stay safe."  I had some nice conversations with customers and I can tell you, many, many, many are concerned.
If you're like me, you peruse Internet media a lot looking for tidbits that catch your attention.  I found this one interesting a few days back, talking about how the Idiot Jerk in the White House couldn't understand why the US just didn't let the virus 'wash' over us.  And there wasn't just one intance when I saw his 'herd' mentality surfacing.  There were a number of articles from a number of different sources.  I say this because he and his administration are saying there are enough tests to safely send the public  back to work, while many Governors, including Cuomo, are saying just the opposite.  Not testing is how you let 'herd' immunity work.  In case you hadn't realized it, neither he, nor is billionaire cronies, are concerned with how many Americans die as long as they, themselves are safe.  There's going to be a price to pay and they're going to makes sure someone else pays it.
And here's a bit about his ratings.  By now everyone in the country understands he needs to feed his ego... constantly.  Some were stunned when he bragged about his ratings during one of his daily lie sessions.  The fact that he mentioned the Bachelor Finale loudly screamed about where his priorities were.  Just so you know, his highest rating was 12.2 million viewers.  This does not mean they were loving his performance, rather it means 12.2. million Americans had his broadcast turned on.  In actuality, that is only .037% of the American population.  Oh, dear me, that's a problem if you're desperately trying to be popular.
And since we're there, shall we look at approval ratings?  George W's went up to 90% after 9/11 and though the did drop by the time of his re-election they still helped him win a 2nd term in the White House.  The Idiot Jerk's approval ratings shrieked up to a voluminous 54% (now that's screaming, eh?) and have since dropped down to 44%.  Ouch!  Is it any wonder he's angrily Tweeting to his base in Michigan, and Wisconsin, and Virginia.  His re-election is anything but guaranteed.
And Finally, I think we should all send a strong round of Congratulations to Greece, one of the few countries to kick Covid - 19 in the ass.  The EU was was not nearly expecting them to do such a great job.   They were simply amazing.

I think everybody should stand and give birthplace of Democracy a rousing round of applause.
