Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Phillies Karen

And we have a cool start to the day here in Central PA with our morning temp sitting at 58 (F).  A cold front passed through the area and for the most part our skies were cloudy yesterday, oh and there was that occasional drizzle, but not the amount of precipitation to write about.  In fact, the only thing to really say is that I'm amused Accuweather notifies me that the rain will be stopping shortly when in fact it isn't raining.

The cold (if that's what it was) is now pretty much out of my system.  Up until yesterday my routine was get up, write the blog, and then nap.  Then after the nap, I'd putz around the house a little bit and feel the need for another nap.  I napped all day on Friday and then got a solid 8 hours sleep on top of that.  Today my nasal passages are clear, though I still get the occasional dry cough.  This means that I'm going in to work today.  Oh, joy.

Things were accomplished yesterday, including a mini workout and many words getting written.

One of Howie's ears is all red, so later on this morning before I go to work I'll give both of his ears a cleaning.  For some reason the area around my house has lots of gnats and mosquitos during the summer, perhaps because I'm so close to the river, and both of us get bitten.

One of the things that stole the media away from the Orange Anus this weekend was the tawdry tale of Phillies Karen.

This woman, whether she wanted it or not, got her 15 minutes of fame and then some.  You see, a Home Run was hit into the stands at a Phillies game and Phillies Karen wanted it... badly.  It landed close to her, however the father of a young boy got to the ball first.  And Karen, in true Karen style, followed the father back to his seat demanding that he give her the ball because it landed closer to her, than to him.  And Karen was loud!  And she was pushy!  And what she didn't know was that the stinky scene she was causing was being played on all of the Jumbotron's in the stadium.  So not only was everybody at the game watching her, everybody watching the game on TV saw her meltdown.  The father gave her the ball and the fans began to boo.  Now a decent person would have realized their mistake and given the ball to the boy, but not this Karen.  She took her ball and left the stadium.  However, this tale does have a happy ending, for Phillies management gave the boy a bag of balls, each one autographed by Phillies player.  And to give you an idea how big this story got, the above picture is from the Hindustan Times, so Karen was making news in India.

  2. Hello, my name is Asep Haryono from Indonesia. I found your blog through “I Should Be Laughing,” which pointed me to yours.

I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better and getting back into your routine. Poor Howie with those bug bites I hope the ear cleaning helps. Fans will always remember kindness more than a tantrum

    Have a fabulous day
