Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Puff of Smoke

Hello Thursday!  The sun is shining!  The temps here in Central PA are in the low 70s (F).  There is the possibility of thunderstorms this afternoon, but that's okay as long as it's only a threat.  Winds are predicted to pick up as well, which will help dry things out.  I'm okay with that.

Much was accomplished yesterday even if the number of tasks completed seems low.  In fact, only 2 things were actually accomplished:  the mailing out of books, and the setting up of the new internet.  The shipping of the books was a good learning experience.  I always used USPS for all my shipping before, mostly because I didn't know any better.  Now I use Pirate Ship and get amazing savings.  It's only costing me $30 to send a copy of my book to Athens, Greece.  The USPS would have charged me $90.

As for setting up the new T-Mobile internet?  It took about 20 minutes.  The one thing I was concerned about was changing the Wi-Fi on my devices from Fios to T-Mobile.  It was so easy peasy, mostly because I chose a password that wasn't a hodgepodge of letters and symbols.  The only thing left to do is call Verizon and cancel - that will probably be the most difficult thing to do because they will be terrible.

My tomatoes are doing fine, and I have green peppers, but my zucchini and cucumbers aren't going anywhere.

To all of those idiots of the world breathlessly waiting to see if the Orange Anus will bomb Iraq prepare to be told he's going to wait 2 weeks.  Actually, he's pretty much already told the world that, though with different words because he's waiting to see if they surrender.  They won't.  However, being secretive keeps the world's attention on him and that is what his ego lives for, full media coverage 24 hours a day.  That will change the minute he does anything and some will damn him while others love him.  I do suspect that some of his advisors have let him know that this is a no win situation as far as his approval ratings go, not that he'll believe them.

And Elonia had another rocket blow up on him this morning.  For those of you unaware of the situation, thanks to his buddy the Orange Anus, Elonia's Space X is now fully funded by US taxpayer dollars, so this morning $2.4 billion of your dollars went up in smoke.  This is not, as Elonia tweeted, just a scratch.  This guy's a freaking idiot.

Elon's Premature Ejaculation

Well, here we are again, at Friday.  Who'd have thunk the days could fly by so fast.  It seems like yesterday we were also enjoying the end of the work week.  Well, I guess I should clarify that, work week for some, not me.  I'm scheduled to work tomorrow and Sunday.  This is how it goes.

My movie buddy Patty and I were supposed to go see Renfield last evening.  We did... and we didn't.  When we got to the theater we found out that they changed the start time.  On Sunday when I looked it started at 8 p.m., however at some point in the week they changed the start time to 7:15 p.m. so we arrived at our local AMC too late.  I was a little irate, since I want to see that movie in the theater.

I was out doing yardwork again.  Today I'll be out again to mow the lawn.  The joys of being a homeowner.  I'm also working on getting rid of the English ivy.  I bought a spray that's supposed to kill it.  I will probably use it this afternoon on the ivy that is growing in the front yard hedge.

Yesterday, I also installed a retractable hose outside.  It will still need to be taken down in the winter, but no longer will I be coiling it up on the sidewalk in front of the faucet.  Yippee for me!

And for those who didn't know, yesterday Elon Musk had a very public premature ejaculation so to speak.  His very large rocket lifted off and then exploded.  Everybody in the world is talking about this because... well, he's turning out to be such a dimwit.  The town where he located his launch site is not happy with him.  The dust cloud kicked up was immense, lots of clean-up to be done.

Yesterday was also the day he took away the Blue checks on Twitter... sort of.  They disappeared from so many names and groups, but not all.  Stephen King still has one, though he says that he isn't paying for it.  I believe him.  And, evidently, Twitter can take away the Blue check, but they can't take away the verification they originally did.  Searching with certain filters shows even without the checks people are still verified.  Elon's turning out to be a real dolt.

I'm one of THOSE People

For those of you keeping track, today is my Friday.  It's also Sunday.  If you a Pentecostal, the Supreme Court has ruled that limiting the size of your religious gatherings in no way detracts from your religious freedom.  The reason they chose this path is, according to John Roberts, is Common Sense during Covid - 19.  You know this has got to piss off the Cracker Jack Christians.
Yesterday I got to be counter at the Exit for about 2 hours.  This is really not a bad job.  You talk to people as they leave the store.  Most of them are really nice.  Some say "stay safe."  Now and then you get some cranky white guy, either burly with a beard or his mouth pissily pinched shut, leaving without a word.  And now and then you have to deal with women.  They try and use words they believe are rapier sharp but are more like a bright pink highlighters used by petty child to scribble bright stupid words.  I had one yesterday.  Middled-aged, she was wearing a black dress, and tried to enter through the Exit.  When I explained it was 'Exit Only'  she frowned.  "When is this going to end?"  Our standard response is, "as long as there's an infectious virus out there," and she cut me off.  She said I was ridiculous.  I told her the last time I had checked there were 112 positive in the zip code for Camp Hill, which is very small.  That pissed her off.  "I look at the CDC website everyday," she lied "and only 80,000 people have died from Covid."  She's off by what?  24,000?  My stunned reaction at her ignorance must have been quite obvious, because she leaned close and bitterly said "oh, you're one of THOSE people," and went down to the Front Entrance.  That's right... she said "only."  My response, before she walked away was "Yes, I am."
Yesterday Elon Musk launched Americans into space for the first time in 9 years.  The Idiot Jerk gave a little speech everyone except MAGA heads ignored.  The only way he'd have gotten any notices was if he'd said something inflammatory.   Interesting how he doesn't get any attention by being compassionate or generous, rather people only notice him when he either Tweets or says something stupid.  He likes to be noticed, so you can bet the stupidity factor is going to increase.
The only BoBo thing about yesterday's launch was some fool with a radio actually said "God's speed," which was a reference to John Glen, for so many of you too young to remember.  Anyway, as one of "THOSE people," I'm glad we're back in space.

Elon Musk and Richard Branson rise while Chuck and Dave Koch dive

The other day I read that some how the Koch brothers, Chuck and Dave, through one of they back (Citizens United?) has managed to give a smack back to the governor of Tennessee,  Evidently the Guv wanted to expand Medicare coverage or increase it and Chuck and Dave hate Medicare - the word Obamacare gives them such a sour stomach they need to reach for the Rolaids.  Anyway, as I read the article, which noted the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of millions Chuck and Dave were contributing in order to foist their agenda upon America, I sat back and wondered if they didn't realize 25 years from now they'll both be dead from old age (one of them is 74 and the other is 80).  That's not a long time.  In fact, in spite of the supreme medical care their extreme wealth allows them to enjoy, even 15 years might be pushing it.  Don't they realize nothing they do will be long lasting.  They will be forgotten, only remembered by those studying those arts used by the wealthy in an attempt to control the world around them.  Who will be remembered?  Elon Musk, for one.

Richard Branson will also be notably obvious in history books.  And there will be other names; those leading us into the future.  While Space X will be helping to colonize the moon and eventually leading us on to Mars, the remains of the Chuck and Dave Koch will be enshrined somewhere.  While Virgin Galactic will be taking passengers on excursions to the dark side of the moon, dust will be gathering on tombs of Chuck and Dave.  This is how the world turns.  Those who take us into the future will be immortalized.  One hundred years we name things after them while Chuck and Dave will most like be nothing more then footnotes.
