Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Comments

Well, it was somewhat sunny yesterday, on and off, mostly off, with drizzles.  We got the edge of the storm that so much rain on New York City.  Today we're supposed to have sunny skies with the temps on the rebound, climbing up into the low 70s (F).  This coming week we're suppose to reach the mid 80s (F) before it's time to snuggle under the wooly blankets as the temps crash down in the the mid 50s (F).

Yesterday much was accomplished, in spite of the naps.  Yes, I said naps.  Both Thursday and Friday I was nappy.  Thing got done around the times I wasted time with fifteen minute naps.  In fact, there were so many naps that I wondered if perhaps I might be coming down with something.  Well, I got my answer around 2 in the morning when I woke up with a runny nose.  I hate that, having to get up in the middle of the night to blow my nose.  And it wasn't just once.  So, I have a cold.  Lucky for me my cold symptoms are just drowsiness and a runny nose.  They usually don't stick around too long, either, ;a day and a half, maybe two.  I don't mind the drowsiness, but I do hate the runny nose.

As happens to all bloggers, occasionally we get comments that are best deleted, like those from the Bombay Hooker's Club.  Yesterday, I received a comment from "Anonymous" on an entry I wrote back in 2017 that evidently the writer thought would provoke me.  It did, and instead of deleting it I responded thus:

And, of course, the country runs out of money today and those horses ass in the House are going to try and push through something that they know the Senate is going to vote against because our Senators know an asswipe when they see one.  Supposedly the ring leader for this is Matty Gaetz, though you can bet he's not the only insurrectionist involved.  You would think that these people would realize that when members of their own party point to their inability to govern, calling it chaotic, they would understand they need a new course of action.  Nope.  These people don't care that a majority of Americans are looking at them and thinking "asswipes," or that this stunt is going to lose them voters in the next election.  These 21 people are not only shitting in their pants, they're sitting down and squishing it around because they want an authoritarian government led by their Lord and Savior Donald Trump.  They are destined to fail... badly, and the longer this continues, the worse their downfall will be.

Shorty

It's Monday... my day off (notice to the singularity)... and it's snowing.  We're only supposed to get another 1 - 3 inches before it switches over to... mixed precipitation.  That change is not going to happen until later this evening though the ice accumulations is only supposed to be about 1/10th of an inch.
They threw the Grammy's last night.  Didn't watch.  Never do.  I like my female vocalists to actually vocalize rather than sound like they are expirating helium.  The same thing goes for male vocalists; give me a baritone with range rather than a 'high ball' tenor - I don't find falsetto listenable.  I did see Fall Out Boy's "MANIA" got a nomination for best rock album... didn't win.  And for a bit of humor, I saw that the chick who won best Gospel has really big, really blond hair, I mean like almost inflatable big; goes with the territory I guess.  There was a time when a Grammy win figured into my record buying habits and as a result I own a lot of vinyl I now regret purchasing.
In case you didn't see... we're heading for another shutdown.  That's right, the government's going to be 'closed for business' one more time.  Am I like the only one who's recognized how often this is happening under this administration?  This is because the Republican concept of negotiation and compromise revolves totally around one simple statement:  "This is what we want."  They are not now and never will be open to any variation on that demand.  Democrats will say "well, we'll give this if you give us that," and the Republicans say "This is what we want."  Going into these negotiations the Republicans realized they were not getting any money for the Idiot Jerk's racist wall.  Of course, there are going to be other sticking points since the Republican idea of immigration reform is "Keep out the brown people."
This Sunday evening we have the Oscars.  I'll watch them.  This year will be interesting because there is no host.  Originally Kevin Hart had been slated to handle the Master of Ceremonies job, but then he suddenly dropped out over past homophobic comments he'd made.  Personally, I think that was a front, a cheap excuse to cover up the real problem with Kevin Hart.  You see, the man is tiny.  Little.  Short.  His biography lists his height as 5 feet 4 inches.  He was on a talk show where he claimed to be 5 feet 4.5 inches but eventually, after much back and forth between he and the host, admitted to being only 5 feet 2 inches tall.  He is almost a short person.

I'm betting his agent looked him in the eye and said "bad move, everybody in the world is going to start calling you 'shorty.'"  Thanks to movie magic, in "Jumanji" he was only a few inches shorter than Dwayne Johnson, in real life Dwayne's more than a bit taller.

Maybe he should start singing Gospel, that way he could himself some big hair.

Desperate Republicans

Well, the viral infection has moved... I repeat, the viral infection has moved... south.  Initially my Dr had recommended chloroseptic and Tylenol, neither of which did a thing to stop the torrents of mucus raging down my throat.  I ended up doing Mucinex and Ibuprofen.  They worked.  I slept well last night.  A thank you goes out to the Mistress who recommended Gin...  the liquor store was out of Bombay Sapphire, which is why I went with the Meds.  As I started to say, the infection has moved south and located in the general vicinity of my Adam's apple, using my vocal cords as some sort of camouflage.  I sound like a rusty gate when I talk.  When I asked the dogs if they had to "go potty outside," they both gave me a WTF stare.
Oh, and in case you haven't heard, we have a partial government shut down.  I repeat, we have a partial government shut down.  The wall, you know?  Poll after poll, except for those the crazy right-wingers fudge, point out that only 31% of Americans want a border wall.  In case you don't know, that's the total sum of registered Republicans, with about 2% Independent voters added in just for shits and giggles.  The Idiot Jerk is telling a majority of Americans to screw themselves just so he can give his base what their little, racist hearts crave.  This is desperation.  They really need to stop lying to themselves about their own popularity.
I saw where the Taliban is claiming victory of the United States.  Now isn't that a great message to send terrorist groups?
And the stock market dropped a lot last week... the most in 10 years.  The list time this happened the Idiot Bush was president.  Remember, Republicans have always been failures in regard to the economy.  Always.  The Idiot Jerk wants to fire Powell.  The real problem is Powell, it's that the stock market was terribly over inflated... by greed.  We have the cheerleader for American Capitalism in the White House and he's nothing but a turd, spitting out cheap words for greedy people.
Today will be another slow day at the store.  Tomorrow will be slower, and Monday slower still.  I work Monday.  Odds are they will let me go home early.  That's fine with me.

Fjord This

Well, it looks as though the Republicans have dropped the ball again.  Me thinks that the Idiot Jerk in the White House needs to go back and reread "The Art of the Deal," since neither he, nor his party seem to understand the art of negotiation.  This is a party that would rather cut off their genitalia than think about compromise.  They've had a problem with this concept every since Reagan's landslide win.  The only solution will be to vote them out of existence.  The American Freedom Caucus, with its vision of a white, socially conservative America needs to go.  They are a minority party and need to be treated as such.  For way too long America's Centrists and Liberals have played nice with them, demonstrating true values by turning the other cheek.  They need to be held accountable for all of their deceits.  They need to be removed.
Most people don't remember that this same party shut down the government for 16 days back in 2013.  A lesson should have been learned then, that they will sacrifice anything and everything to dictate how Americans live their lives.  We need to shut them up.
Anyway, today's Saturday and I'm off - no work, though there are chores around the house which need to be done.  I have a small bookcase which will get at least 2 new coats of paint.  I'm going to use it in the bathroom to store towels.
I also want to go for a ride this afternoon.  There are those at work who find it funny that I ride a trainer during the winter, who find it amusing when I pull up Strava and show them a ride I took up a fjord in Norway.  They say "isn't that nice."  And I usually sit back, think about my sitting heart rate of 56 bpm, nod and say "yes it is, it's very nice."

Lily had a tick

I discovered it last night as it prepared to chow down on the skin between her shoulders.  Now, I know there are people out there who go into screaming Mimis at the sight of one l - not me.  All I did was reach for the Front Line.  Normally I don't dose my dogs through out the winter; we get cold here in Central PA which is not a good thing for ticks or fleas.  From now until October they'll be getting their monthly treatments.
And I guess, from what I've been reading, their are storm clouds looming over the Idiot in the White House...  Hell, when aren't they looming.  His first 100 days have been marred by a constant stream of stupidity, the likes of which, had they been committed by a Democratic President, would have stroked out 3/4 of the Republicans electorate. (Keep that in mind, next Democratic President).  Any way, I'm talking about the encroaching budgetary battles between the Republicans and the... Republicans,  I'm sure that every now and then a Democrat will flash a bit of leg and say "you want some of this?  It's gonna cost you buddy."  Let's be honest here, a Government Shutdown is just one more example of how Republicans just don't know how to govern.

And I saw something that was supposed to be sad on Facebook regarding Aron Hernandez and his daughter, and how after all the jokes and snide remarks were said and done, she still lost her father.  I do feel sorry for her but in the end, when all is said and done, her father was a murderer who thought only of himself to the very end.
And finally, I haven't been to the gym at all during my vacation... I haven't lifted a weight, or took a 35 minute ride on my elliptical.   That's going to change on Sunday AM.  So, if you hear a loud wailing around 0530, it means I finally got back on the scale.

Ted Cruz - maybe not the anti-Christ but pretty close

Everybody is talking about the government shut-down.  Wow.  Like the last time this happened was when the Republicans hated Bill Clinton seventeen years ago; now they hate Obama.  If I remember correctly they paid the piper a wee bit the last time they pulled this shenanigan, and, I suspect the same thing will happen again.  Like spoiled children they don't really learn lessons, they just stamp their foot harder and do what they want.  One can only wonder if they thought the American voting public would rush to their side, that those voters would suddenly have an epiphany: the Tea Party is heaven sent.  What a joke.  While the majority of the Tea Party members are having hands-free orgasms, the majority of everybody else is taking a step back and saying "woah, you people are just too extreme."  And, who is championing this ultra conservative fight?  Ted Cruz.
Let me calculate your idiocy

From what I've heard and read about pudding head Ted is that he has evocative dreams about someday becoming president of the United States.  If this is the case, then I suspect no one has ever told him that all presidents, be they Democrat or Republican, stay pretty close to the center.  This is the only way to get enough votes to be elected.  You don't become president by jumping into a hot tub party sponsored by the far right.  People don't like extremes in politics.  Pudding head Ted doesn't seem to understand this.  Maybe he thinks he's appealing to the Common Man, unfortunately he doesn't understand the Common Man.  I suspect this is because he feels he is so superior he can gauge everybody he meets on their level of stupidity.  That's what I sense when ever I see him or hear him or read what he's said.  It's like he has this dumb scale he uses to grade everybody:  the higher the percentage the greater the idiot.  I know the Tea Party pretty much thinks of him as a god, personally, I think he's verging on being the anti-Christ.  Depending on your beliefs he could be either or.
