Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Project Hail Mary

We are under a freeze warning, though in my neck of the woods the temps stayed above freezing.  There wasn't even a slight glazing of frost on the cars when I woke up this morning.  Today does start a rebound in temps, and soon they will be back in the upper 60s (F) and low 70s (F).  for all intents and purposes, I do believe spring has sprung.

Yesterday was definitely a meh day.  I did do some few things, but mostly I napped.  A small ache at the back of my jaw has turned out to be a minor case of swollen gland and sore throat.  I don't doubt this is why I felt so nappy yesterday.  Not that I'm still not feeling nappy.  Also, you must remember that when you hit a certain age, brief naps can sometimes be essential.

Because of this nappiness, the cardio I had scheduled for yesterday was moved to Saturday.  Feeling less nappy today, I will probably do that this afternoon since I have to work Saturday afternoon and I like doing my cardio in the afternoon.  I like doing my weight workouts in the morning, so I will have no problem doing the weight thing on Saturday.

And I went to see The Hail Mary Project last evening.  We haven't had a Feel Good movie in soooo long, and it does make you happy.  Ryan Gosling does a spectacular job: he makes you laugh, he makes you cry a bit; he makes you want to be his friend.  He's a science guy who loves being a science guy, not only that, he's an educator.  If he loves anything more than science, he loves teaching.  He has a rapport with hungry, young minds.  We need more teaches like him.  There are also, for those of you who like to look for them, a ton of easter eggs in this movie, including a great tribute to 2001: A Space Odyssey.

And I did go to the movie feeling fairly certain that the Orange Anus was going to TACO.  And, at 6:59, sitting in my seat waiting for the movie to start, I got the notification on my watch.  It's TACO Tuesday.  The world knows he's a gutless, sack of shit.  One of the first things I saw when I left the theater was a comment asking how many oil futures were sold 15 minutes before TACO time, because after he caved, oil futures went through the roof, again.  This happens every time he TACOs.  It's called market manipulation.

And he unconditionally accepted the Iranian plan.  Even Fox Entertainment was critical of that.  He's basically giving the Iranians the bank.  He's trying to spin it as though it's another Big Beautiful Bill.  It's not.  This is not going to help him in the polls, in fact, I don't doubt it will cause his approval rating to drop even farther.  One thing that's important is that once again most of the Republicans in the House and Senate said absolutely nothing.  If they spoke out against this insanity the MAGA cultists would damn them to Hell.  Staying silent is preferable to them.  They already know they've lost a vast majority of Independent voters.  They would rather ride this clown car straight to Hell rather than publicly admit that they were terribly wrong.

Eggs!

Right now our outside temp is sitting at 48 (F).  That may be our high for the day.  Temps are on their way down.  I woke up early this morning, around 0500, and at that time the temp was 52 (F) so our temps are definitely on their way down.  Yesterday we popped all the way up to 82 (F).  I didn't work, but I'm wondering if there was a run on window A/C units at the store.  That always happens at this time of the year.

And yesterday was not quite meh.  This were done, which is always a good thing.  I had hoped to feel as though much more had been accomplished other than frequently going outside to enjoy the weather.  Howie and I played ball for a bit, but just a bit.  He has a bad habit of not wanting to give the ball back to me so I can throw it.  He'd much rather have me chase him around the back yard.  He gets so much enjoyment out of me running after him.

I'm out of whey. I use it as a source of protein when I finish a workout.  Since eggs are a great source of protein and a good alternative, I made red beet eggs yesterday.  Some people call them pickled eggs.  Here in Central PA, which is in PA Dutch country, we call the red beet eggs.  They're delicious.

This afternoon, I get to work.  Supposedly, this week they are going to be switching supervisors around.  Everybody in specialty is curious as to who will be taking over the our current supervisor, who's not been the most successful.  She's 67 and want to be promoted.  That will never happen.  She will, most likely, be moved to another department. not because of her age, but rather because of her performance.  She spends too much time focusing on the minutiae.   She is a broken record.  Two years ago corporate decided associates needed to greet every customer by saying, "welcome to the Orange Retailer."  Nobody says it, especially to a customer pushing around a shopping cart that half filled with merchandise, nobody except her.  Whereas the successful supervisor understands flexibility, she does not.

Here's a pic of my red beet eggs!

Today's going to be a momentous day for all of the wrong reasons.  Firstly, ICE is going to be moving into airports.  They're not going to help with the TSA issue, nope, they're going to be checking IDs because the Orange Anus and the Republican party hate immigrants.  There is a rumor abounding that when this happens a lot of TSA agents will simply quit.  The Democrats have sponsored legislation to get these people paid, but the Republicans have voted down every attempt so far.  This is because that fat, Orange Anus in the White House wants to be a dictator. He wants the SAVE act tied to any and all legislation that makes its way through Congress.  I suspect air travel is going to get much worse.

And at 7:44 PM the 48 hours Orangie gave Iran to open up the Strait of Hormuz is up.  This moment's burning question is to TACO, or not to TACO.  The Orange Anus and those he has surrounded himself with, has put himself into a extremely perilous position.  He he doesn't follow through with his threats, he will appear weak, and if he does start bombing infrastructure, as he said he would, Iran's going to start taking out desalination plants across the region.  While this is not the worst of all possible worlds, it's a pretty bad one.

Attempted TACO

Our afternoon high yesterday was 72 (F).  Today, the prediction is that we climb all the way up to 78 (F).  This is nice so late in winter, and it is still winter for those of you who have forgotten.  We have another 10 days until we hit halfway point between Winter and Summer known as Spring.  Starting Thursday our temps will be falling back into the normal range.  One thing I did see yesterday on Social Media that was smart was advice telling people it is way to early to start doing yard work.  We got some cooler days ahead, and even though the daffodils are beginning to poking their heads up through last Autumn's leaves, let them be.  Put down that rake.

I didn't work yesterday because... well, I was supposed to go down to York and have lunch with my friend Betsy on Sunday, yet for some reason when I requested the day off, I keyed in March 9, rather than the 8th.  This is not the first time I've made this mistake.  I have a problem with trying to use the calendar in my head, which is never correct.  So, I ended up getting scheduled off yesterday.  In fact, I don't work until Saturday.  Lucky me.  Believe me, my time is easily filled for the rest of the week.  I wouldn't want to do this every week though, I might run out of things to do.

Today is garbage day.  Waste Management is our collector.  They gave us 2 large green garbage cans, one with a green lid for your garbage and one with a yellow lid for your recyclables.  I usually only put my cans out every 3 weeks since it's just myself and Howie.  My neighbors, the ones who argue all of the time, have stopped putting out their recyclable can, so I suppose they just throw everything together.  Taking out one can is far less work than taking out 2.

And for those who haven't been paying attention, we had an Attempted TACO yesterday.

Our Orange president, who has never been too smart, and who was also desperate to get people talking about something other than the Epstein files, let Bibi Netanyahu talk him into invading Iran.  So, with much flashy brashness, we began shooting missiles into Tehran.  Then the Orange Asshole killed the old hardline leader only to have him replaced with a younger, angrier hard liner... and the Straits of Hormuz were closed to shipping.  Oil prices went up and Wall Street reacted and Orangie did his best interpretation of Edvard Munch's The Scream.  And a TACO was attempted... but with the wrong ingredients.  You see, Orangie forgot that his frat boy Secretary of Defense had already been spewing nonsense about this being a religious war that was going to lead to the second coming of Jesus.  This morning Kegsbreath is spouting off about how the bombing is going to intensify and the Straits of Hormuz?  They're still closed.  It appears that the only way Orangie can make a complete TACO is by getting rid of Kegsbreath, but that would mean he'd made a mistake in putting the Christian Nationalist is charge of the military.  So, the big question is to TACO or not to TACO.

The Art of Falling Apart

Good morning people!  Our outside temps are actually in the low 60s (F), now how nice is that.  We also have sunshine!  I don't know if today is going to be glorious or not, but it's starting off rather nicely.  This is, unfortunately, just a brief respite from the rain.  Late this afternoon clouds will again be rolling into Central PA and the drizzles will once again commence.  As we move into June next week, the weather does look to be more summery, with consecutive days of sunshine.

I worked yesterday, but not as a flooring specialist.  Nope.  When I got there I was surprised to find out that I had been scheduled to work in the Paint Dept.  Nice.  I like working with paint.  Colors are great. I always find it amusing that so many people believe you need to have a neutral wall in order to hang and present art.  I suspect too many designers take their inspiration from galleries where shows and exhibits are only for public consumption for few weeks or months at a time, where white or neutral walls make quick changes easier. These designers have evidently never, ever been to the Louvre.

And, of course, today I need to get back to the chaos which is the Trump Administration, and chaos might be too light a term to describe this shit show.  This whole thing has become a bubbly stew of fecundity, a soupcon of salaciousness.

Let's see... the fascist Stevie Miller's wife, the mother of his 3 children, is leaving him for a DOGE hacker.

The tariffs were off, then on, then off, and then... maybe on, though they maybe illegal and so they're on again while an appeal makes its way through the courts.

And, it turns out, that now everyday is TACO day.  I do hope I don't have to explain that to anyone.

Orangie verbally attacked the ultra conservative Leonard Leo because it was one of Lenny's pet judges that shot down the illegal tariffs.  For those of you who don't know, Lenny is Clarence Thomas' sugar daddy, so by attacking Lenny, Orangie maybe have thrown a bucket of cold water on his chances of getting the Supreme Court to give him what he wants.

At this point, I think it's safe to say that things will continue to fall apart for Orangie and his cult, the Republican party, in fact, one might say the GOP has turned falling apart into some horribly abstract piece of art.
