Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Egg Salad

2nd day with the new computer.  Remember when you could switch your browser with just a click of a button?  Not anymore.  Microsoft doesn't want you using anything other than Microsoft, something I don't want to do.  Google is easier to organize, whereas Windows 11 seems cumbersome, oh, and I hate that their favorites are now on the right side of the screen.  One of the really good things about this upgrade is that I've decided up update my passwords.  That was challenging at time, but... well, most of them were 10 to 15 years old (son of a bitch).

Yesterday, the weather was fine.  The dogs and I spent some time outside, they laid around soaking in the sun while I pottered, without Harry (stop groaning).  The lawn was mowed.

I do have to work today, which is good.  There are a few things I want to pick up at the store, like a bag of dirt.  One of those elephant ear plants might make it into my shopping basket as well.

Sunday is a scheduled day off.  If I don't finish the most recent edits on The Body in Repose this evening, they'll be done on Sunday.  And then the manuscript is off to the final editor, yippee!

As I said yesterday, I made egg salad.  Here's a picture of the prep.

I saw where that dimwitted governor Abbott has rescinded his truck search.  In a stunt which was supposed to embarrass the administration, he ended up looking like a losing fool.  In reality, he created a useless blockade that had fruit and vegetables starting to rot in trucks.  His AG, Kenny Paxton, said it was a success.  You know who Kenny is, don't you?  The Texas AG who has soooooo many legal issues?  Who's being seriously investigated?  I wouldn't be surprised if one of these days we hear that Kenny is going to retire to Puerto Vallarta.

Verizon Sucks

Oh, gosh, it's Wednesday and I'm scheduled off.  I didn't set my alarm so I slept in, that's turning into a bad habit for me.

I have eggs cooking for egg salad, and later today I'm thinking of making potato salad, sans mustard.  For some reason unknown to me some believe a tad of mustard makes it Amish (pronounced ahh - mish, with the short 'a', not with a long A).  It doesn't.  Believe me.  I grew up in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country.  No mustard.

Later this afternoon I have an appointment at the Verizon Store.  I live 15 minutes away and I know it's much fast to drive there and piss and moan, then wait 45 minutes for a Chat session to open, or an hour and a half on the phone listening to their hold music.  Why am I going to piss and moan?  My rates went up $13.15.  There was no change to any of my services, Verizon just thought it was time to charge me more because the the billions of $$$ they rake in every year will never be enough to satisfy their stockholders.  T-Mobile has wireless internet for $50 a month.  Their tower is 1/4 mile from where I live and my service is excellent.  I've checked the reviews and for what I use the Internet for, occasional streaming of movies, T-Mobile would work well for me.

And what about Texas?  It's cold down in the Conservative Red state.  And Abbott, the governor, is blaming green energy, even though wind turbines and solar energy are responsible for only 16% of the energy on their power grid.  While other power grids are struggling with the Artic Blast, the Texas grid stands out because unlike other states which rely on power from multiple sources, including other smaller grids in other states, Texas stands alone.  They are a power grid unto themselves.  For years Texans have bragged about this, the fact that they rely on no one else.  I do not doubt for a second this is their punishment for voting Republican, for choosing to worship Trump over all other things.

Is this a dream?

Sunday, and I slept in an extra hour.  I had an odd dream about being a resident in some sort of house.  There had been a party with lots of food.  The time came for me to go to bed and I couldn't wait to wake up to see what food was left over.  When I woke up, everything had been put away.  No food.  So I made a pot of coffee and lit a cigarette. The dream was rather depressing, and when I checked the headlines on my phone this morning I saw the Idiot Jerk's campaign was asking for another recount in Georgia.  Son of a Bitch!

Yesterday was an odd day at work.  We were fairly busy in what my Mammy (yes, that's what I called my grandmother on my mother's side) the forenoon.  I cut a lot of carpet.  There were the odd questions.  I couldn't wait to leave, and when I got home I made egg salad.  Perhaps that was responsible for the food in my dream.  I didn't write anything, but did play more Valhalla.  I did win my first flyting contest.  Flyting is a ritual poetic exchange of insults.    There are some famous Norse poems involving the god Loki and flyting.  I never thought I'd be trying to verbally abuse someone with poetry in a video game.

Of course, a Federal judge in Pennsylvania smacked back at the Idiot Jerk's appeal to throw out every ballot in the state.  In response, the Idiot Jerk's henchies were hoping to take the case to the Supreme Court.   For those who don't know, this is how sedition works as he and his team constantly fuel the anger of his base.  This is why the Republicans packed the Supreme Court.  This is what evil looks like.  The blame for this falls directly on the shoulders of those who didn't vote in 2016, the ones who sat home.  By doing so, they opened the door to those who desperately want to destroy our democracy.

Finally, it's time for the dogs to get their walk in, and after that a dumbbell work out is on the calendar.  The exercises marked in orange are those on the workout.  Believe me, it's fun!
