Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Heading into the New Year

So, we're heading into a New Year.  Four days and counting... 3 if you no longer count today.  For the first time in 4 years, I'm excited.

Yesterday was odd at the store.  Around 2:30 PM, all the customers started to go home.  By 4:30 PM there were like... oh, maybe 8 in the store.  Associates walked, and talked among themselves.  Normally, we see this in January and February.  Don't get me wrong, the people who were there spent a lot of Christmas money.  Maybe, as the Covid cases continue to increase in Central PA, people are beginning to realize this is more than just a serious problem.

One thing I have noticed, the Idiot Jerk's Tweet storms are no longer being given the massive coverage they once were - this is what happens when you're a loser.  That alone must be galling him for here to Hell and... well, I'd say back, but I'm fairly certain he's going to stay in Hell once he gets there.  Yesterday, it seems he did rage a tiny inferno, dwarfed into nearly non-existence by the bombing in Nashville.  I don't know where I saw it, perhaps the AP, but the Idiot Jerk seems to have call the Supreme Court "ignorant and incompetent," and they were not his only target.  Not surprisingly, he didn't sign the relief bill... in case you didn't know, this is his way of saying "fuck you, America."  This turd is getting flushed, even if we have to call Roto-Rooter to get him completely out of our plumbing.

And finally, a long, long time ago I graduated from Lebanon Valley College, a small liberal arts college, with a degree in English Literature.  Lebanon Valley used to be one of the 10 best small liberal arts colleges in the northeast, so I got a fairly decent education.  In my senior year all I did was read and discuss literature in every class.  One of those classes was Women in Literature.  That class stands out simply because of one book that I found so amazing - Virginia Woolf's "Mrs. Dalloway."  This morning an article about "Mrs. Dalloway" in the NYT.  The book is about one day in the life of woman who's going to have a dinner party, and the consciousness of a war veteran named Septimius, whom she never meets while he's alive.  I found the book fascinating.

The slice and dice of Twitter Hell

Well, I celebrated yesterday being my 6th day in a row by slicing the side of my forefinger with a carpet knife.  Not a long cut, my fingers aren't that thick, but the blade went about as deep as you can go with cutting bone.  Pissed me off.  I looked down after I'd done it and said "fuck."  It didn't hurt, but boy did it bleed... drip, drip, drip, as I walked to the paint department to get a band-aid. One of the associates asked if I needed stitches.  "Nah," I said.  Then she said "you should at least use a butterfly bandage to hold it together."  Gimme a break.  Last night when I got home, I squeezed on some neosporin and changed the bandage.  This morning?  There's just a thin, red line.  I heal fast.
Today is supposed to be nice.  Unfortunately, I'm going to have to waste it by getting out the chainsaw and cutting up all of the branches ripped from the trees behind my house during the last storm.  And there's the problem with the lawn, which desperately needs to be cut... mowing is out of the question since the last week of steady rain has turned it into a field.
Oh, and for those who didn't hear, a Federal Judge decided that the Idiot Jerk in the White House can no longer censor who responds to his Tweets.  This doesn't mean he's actually going to read the comments.  I have no doubts and aide does that, only showing him the ones praising his benefice.  Still, no matter how he wants to dice it, his 'get real Donald' (or what ever it's called) Twitter account is going to be flooded with anger and hatred.  People are going to slice him to ribbons.  He's going to look at one of his aides and say "yo, show me the Luv," and they're going to show him a screen that says "eat shit, scumbag."
This is life, and the Idiot Jerk does not handle reality well.

Gee, I hope that image isn't too graphic... perhaps I should have posted one of my finger.

Marco Rubio - The GOP's bait and switch plan

Of course there is a lot of chatter out here about Marco Rubio's lunge for a glass of water while giving the GOP rebuttal to the State of the Union.  I suspect the GOP has a bigger problem then a thirsty spokesperson.  It seems like almost every time I turn around his face is being flashed on the TV screen or there is some sort of really not so very newsworthy item on the Internet.  I suspect this is because there were a lot of lessons for the GOP to learn after the 2012 election, one of them being they did not appeal to Latino voters.  Duh.  So, their game plan changes and they pick a nice looking Latino man to become part of their changing public image.  You have to admit he does look rather clean cut and is evidently not from the barrio.

Unfortunately he has already had some sort of GOP fallacy issues, one them being his claim his parents fled Cuba to get away from Fidel Castro.  This seems not to be the case, in that they had actually emigrated to Florida three years earlier.  The hook is to get Latino voters interested, and then run two other candidates president and vice president.  I mean, how bad can a political party be if Mr. Rubio is a member?

I've seen recently Mr. Rubio has already stated he would not be running for president in 2016, of course this is one of those statements politicians have been making since the dawn of time.  However, I believe this statement might actually be true.  Another thing the GOP learned was just how racist their base was, which is rather telling in regards to the possibility of Mr. Rubio making a run for the White House.  I sure both he, and the GOP hierarchy, realize they have quite a problem on their hands.  If these Tweeters weren't going to vote for a black man, they're not going to vote a Latino either.  The only thing the GOP can do is the old 'bait and switch,' bait them Rubio and pray Latino voters will vote for some white bread guy instead.
