Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Yum's the word

We had nice temps yesterday shame I had to work.  The thermometer is supposed to rise into the mid 80's (F) today.  Shame I have to work.

Flooring was a bit on the slow side yesterday.  I suspect today might be the same.  I'm only expected to get 2 measures this week.  The truth is we're heading into Memorial Day.  People are more concerned with what their house looks on the outside then getting new flooring.  Barbecues are being planned.  Covid will spread among the unprotected.  This is how life goes.  At this point, after a year of wearing a mask, I don't really have a problem with that since this is how evolution works.  If you're given the opportunity to protect yourself and you chose not to, well that's your responsibility, isn't it?  The constitution was not written to make you stay healthy, just don't expect a lot of sympathy from us 'smart' ones.

That wheat bread was so tasty, I'm going to bake another loaf tomorrow.  Yum's the word.

My third reader returned his copy of The Body in the Loch yesterday.  Certain sentences earned little smiley faces, like this one:  'The countryside was beautiful, forests planting their feet all the way to the craggy hills with garlands of rocks.'  I can only believe he thinks this is what Scotland looks like.

And while I'm still jotting down notes, lots and lots of notes, on The Body in Repose, I can tell you this little ditty will play a part in the story.

I understand the Republicans are going after Liz Cheney.  They don't understand she represents their Centrist wing.  Oh, and they booed Mitt Romney.  This is a party that has grown delusional.  So far out of touch with America.  They will never understand a majority of Americans view Loser #45 as a used car salesman pushing shitty, little lies.

Oh, and I guess the question 'de jour' is whether Rudy Kazoody is going to flip.  I've heard he's already 'cooperating' with the Justice Department.  I also understand that Ronnie Johnson is in the same boat.  I can 'tell all' books in both of their futures.  We'll just have to wait to see which one uses the title "I Was a Dupe for the Russkies."  Now, won't that be a tasty morsel.  Yum!

Bread alone?

So, my alarm went off this morning and I chose to ignore it and sleep a little later.  Sometimes that is nice.  However, I can also see how sleeping late might turn into a bad habit.  When I finally go into partial retirement, I don't want to be one of those people who stays up all night and then sleeps away the day, getting nothing accomplished.  When that happens, you're basically turning into a rock rather than a human, or a troll.

Yesterday much was accomplished, in spite of the constant drizzle.  Bread was baked.  Whole wheat, it's sooooo delicious!  I've eaten half the loaf already.  Can one live by bread alone?

Doing a little research here, so does anyone know what kind of wine would go good with S'mores?

I made Italian pork chops for dinner last evening and they turned out anything but tasty.  I'll pluck the meat for the bones and the dogs will get a treat.

Also, my doctor's appointment is for this afternoon.  After that, I'm going to get in a ride.  It's been a while because my knees have been old age achy.  I'm debating whether I should begin dousing myself with turmeric since it's an anti-inflammatory.

One of the things Uncle Joe brought up in his speech was Trickle Down Economics, that old Reagan lie Republicans have been posturing for years.  Well, after decades of failure, even Conservatives are admitting it doesn't work.  It worked a bit at first because the tax rate for some was around 70%.  However, once the tax rate drops below 54%, it turns into a gift for the rich.  This is a truth Republicans hate.  They want their base to be gullible as hell.

And what about Florida and their voting laws.  One of the definitions of Systemic Racism is to make voting more difficult for those minority groups you don't want voting.  Yep.  White Republicans believe that by making it illegal to give out water, and reducing the number of voting boxes, and make mail-in useless, people of color will stay away from the polls.  This belief among white Republicans proves they zero understanding of people.  They will only eat white bread, saying, "to hell with the wheat, the rye, and the raison."

Make it rise

Thursday.  I'm off.  Blog's a little late today because I'm baking bread today.  I'm also going to go see my Mom this afternoon before my bicycle ride.  That means the bread needs to rise twice and be baked before 1 PM.  I also did free weights this AM.  Hoisting the dumbbells around always takes at least an hour.
I saw where Vlad wants a summit with the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  My first thoughts were that he's not too happy we're pulling out of the Iran Nuclear Accord.  The last thing anybody wants is for Israel and Iran to nuke it out.  Later I saw something in Bloomberg which pretty much echoed what I'd been thinking.  Foolish Vlad.  He thought having the Idiot Jerk in the White House would make his life easier, instead things are now much more complicated.  Vlad failed to realized that the Idiot Jerk would surround himself with Ultra Right Wing sycophants more interested in policy that was not at all conducive to Moscow's wants.  Instead of getting a surrogate satellite nation he got John Bolton.  Oops.
And the Michael Cohen story keeps getting worse and worse.  Selling access to the White House?  Dear me.... Why is it that every time someone turns over a rock near the Idiot Jerk we find more corruption?  You can bet that if there was payola in it for the Idiot Jerk, he was involved.
On the three Americans who were released by the North Koreans?  Conservatives are lauding praise on the Idiot Jerk - that guy is such a deal maker, isn't he?  Sadly for them, he's just a pony prince.  The force to be reckoned with here are the Chinese.  Of course, that's not stopping the Republicans from sucking out all of the credit they can.  Do they understand?  That's very doubtful.  Just like the North Korean nukes.  There's an Idiot Jerk supporter at work who was reveling in a nuclear free North Korea, and how his president was responsible.  Duh.  People are so damn stupid.  North Korea's power isn't in their nukes... it's in their hackers.  "Oh, no, no," Republicans say, shaking their heads, "it's the nukes."  Remember the Sony hack?  That was easy pickings.  Conservatives still don't understand.  "The North Koreans are that sophisticated," they whine.  Just wait.
Anyway, one of the Itoh peonies I planted has finally started to stick it's head out of the ground.  I'm so happy.  Now all I have to do is wait for the other two.

Here's a pic of the bread.  My hands are so wonderful.  Just think, all I had to do was touch it to make it rise....
