It's snowing! Sort of... I guess I should say that snow is falling, however the temps are in the mid 30s (F) so it's melting on sidewalks, and streets, and all of those pavers in my backyard that I call my veranda. Basically, we have a dusting. That's it. We're also under a high wind warning because there's a front moving through; today and tomorrow will be cold, but then temps will be warming up with highs in the high 40s (F) and low 50s (F).
Yesterday turned out to be pretty meh. I don't know if it was because the skies were overcast all day or not. I finished off this weeks laundry and sliced up a bag of green peppers and put them in the dehydrator. My house smelt greeny for most of the day. I'm off tomorrow and I have a bag of potatoes, so I will probably slice those up and dry them for future use. When the potatoes are done, I'm thinking of buying chicken and drying that. Also, the 25 pound bag of barley arrived. I work today, so while at the store, I'm going to pick up a 5 gallon food safe bucket and lid for storing it. I suppose, in a way, you could say that I'm becoming a prepper of sorts. Better safer than sorry.
And I went to see Wicked last night. It is, as everybody is saying, very good, probably better than the stage show since the camera gives the audience close-ups. There are some very touching moments in it. Some people live for reviews, I don't, and knowing this was probably going to be a BIG movie purposely avoided anything and everything about it. It was very good, and so apropos for our current times. One of the few things I did see, was a comment by someone who said that it took him over 28 years after first seeing the Wizard of Oz to realize who the real villain was in the story.
We have a huge pantry in the basement and it is PACKED!
ReplyDeleteGood, because you might need it.
DeleteOhhhh
ReplyDeleteSo Wicked, huh? I have been postponing it because I want to see it when the brouhaha has passed. But now I think I will go. I trust your review here.
And because I'm weaning myself off stupid news I did not know about the words written in the bullets. Well, GOOD.
It was a hit job, of course. No tears. But as you said, corporations do not have feelings and they'll keep strangling their services. Did you read that now Blue Cross Blue Shield will NOT pay for your anesthesia if your procedure goes beyond its planned time?????
And it's going to get worse with DonOld in office.
XOXO
You should see it on the BIG screen! I usually only look at headlines now, for the meat and potatoes I got to either Rolling Stone or The Guardian.
DeleteSome days are definitely feeling like the end is near especially with the news about that CEO.
ReplyDeleteI saw an interesting note that said Elon Musk bought Twitter to turn America back to German in the 1930s, but instead turned it back to France in 1797, just in time for the French revolution.
DeleteI keep hearing that Wicked is great! I like watching movies on the TV in my kitchen, while eating something yummy. I think I'll wait until it comes out on a streaming service and watch from the comfort of my own home. I especially love being in my kitchen these days since we got our new cabinet refacing. I enjoyed reading this!
ReplyDeleteI'd eat myself out of house and home if I did that! But, I go to the movies a lot so I don't need to worry.
DeleteHaving seen Wicked in New York Miami and Greenville, I am a fan, and loved the movie, too. I liked that it brought you into the story more than can be done on stage, and Cynthia Erivo is a force!
ReplyDeleteI thought of that while watching it, how the close-ups made the story quite personal. I've heard tell that the Act I ending scene is the best that's every been filmed.
DeleteThe shooting of that CEO is a lot more complex than I first thought. It'll be intriguing to see how it all unfolds. I have no doubt they'll catch the guy, I mean they have pretty clear pictures of him but the story is going to be interesting. While no-one deserves to die like that, maybe it just might be good for some of the uber rich to realize that you can't crap all over the little people forever and not expect a reaction. As for the Wizard of Oz, it truly did take me years to realize who the real baddy was too!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the shooter is no longer in New York; we are a very large country. There are people saying this may be more than just a wake-up call. And you're never told what makes the Wicked Witch wicked in the movie. All you know is that she wants her sister's slippers. Wicked adds a lot of missing context.
DeleteUnited Healthcare denies health claims more than any other insurance company. Maybe they and other insurance companies will all take a hard look at the anger and desperation they’re putting families through before the whole system collapses and they go with it.
ReplyDeleteThis was just a warning shot, the insurance companies better heed the seething anger of the public.
They will not, their greed far out ways another rational, instead they will start paying money for security and then write that cost off of their taxes.
