Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

On the Pulse of a Morning

Well, it does seem as if the Arctic Blast has hit us... sort of.  When I woke up this morning our outside temp was 30 (F) and that's cold.  Oddly enough, areas to our geographic south were much colder, so maybe the Susquehanna Valley is in a bit of a bubble of warmness.  Tonight is not supposed to be as cold, with the low sitting around 31 (F).  Yeah, I know, like 1 degree makes that much of a difference.

The cold temps also mean the beginning of oatmeal season.  I usually cook up barley for breakfast, but once the chilly willy mornings begin I switch to oatmeal with peanut butter and honey.  I almost always use honey as a sweetener. It's not that I don't like using refined and processed sugar, which I do think about, but because I like the flavor.  The best honey I've had came from Greece.  Seriously, that was so yummy.

My brother sent me a video on Facebook of Fred Rogers playing a screamin' guitar.  I pointed out the name Soros at the top and let him know that it was AI generated.  I really do dislike AI.  In my mind, AI is for lazy people who are creatively barren.  Self publishers are supposed to notify their readers if they use AI, but you know there's a lot of wannabe pseudo authors that don't.  They have no idea with being a fraudulent human being.

I popped 6 pork loins into the freezer a bit ago.  I'm going to be dehydrating them and nearly frozen pork makes for easier slicing.

And here are 2 more pics of my history.  They are from Bill Clinton's first inauguration.  Yes was there.  I, along with a million other people got to hear Maya Angelou recite On the Pulse of a Morning.  My words of advice to people:  If you ever get the chance to participate in history, do so, those moments will stay with you forever.

And I saw that Orangie is in the process of striking up some sort of deal with Syria.  He began by lifting sanctions, and I seem to remember one of his minions mumbling about some sort of framework being discuss for another Orangie Tower, or Resort.  The funds being funneled into his pockets are no doubt coming from Saudi Arabia as the work to spread Islam.  You can do this when you're one of the wealthiest countries in the world.

Also, this morning I saw that Orangie is shrieking about the possibility of the Supreme Court overturning his tariffs, ie his personal grift machine.  It seems that all of these trillions of $$$s he's been bragging about seem to... have... well, possibly disappeared?  Or... it does appear that he saying there's no way they can pay them back to the companies individuals who paid higher prices.  Well, Damn!  Isn't this a big blow to our economic pulse and this cold, autumn morning?

Superman

So, this is the 2nd time I've written this today.  What happened?  Google so desperately wants me to use AI to write this a window popped up over halfway through today's post asking me if I wanted to use AI, when I clicked on no, everything I'd written disappeared.  That's the 2nd time this has happened.

Anyway, yesterday's weather did not follow the forecast.  Instead of having thunderstorms in the afternoon, we had sunshine.  True, the humidity was high, but the storms stayed away.  Supposedly we're going to get the rains today.  One thing that is for certain is that it's very humid right now.

Yesterday was another one of those days that things got done but not a lot of things were accomplished, if you know what I mean.  The problem was that I didn't make a list in the morning,  If I don't create a "to do" list my mind will dawdle on the unimportant.  Running around yesterday morning was one of the things I did.  Picking up a new aquarium light for the tank in the living room was one of the few concrete chores completed.

Last night I did go see Superman.  I liked it a lot.  David Corenswet is good as the Man of Steel.  I think, perhaps, the strongest performance was by Nicholas Hoult.  You know Lex Luthor is bad, but his malignance is hidden behind layers of smooth talking affability.  Just as you think you know where the story is headed, a reveal takes you in another direction.  Whereas most superhero movies use the first half to set up the big fight during the last half, in Superman you are hit with new surprises even during the fight. Even the true insidiousness of Lex Luthor is a surprise.

Of course, the Epstein scandal is still dogging the Orange Anus.  His entire political is based on forming one coalition consisting of many conspiracy groups and now reality has come to bite him in the ass.  Believe me when I say we should really fell sorry for reality.  Now, the GOP, which has wallowed deeply into this swamp in order to gain power, is stuck in quicksand.  Do not doubt that sucking sound you hear as they get sucked under is a great joy to many ears.  Every day there is a new desperate twist or turn, so many flips and flops they're struggling to keep up with the changes.  Things are flying at them so fast, I don't think many of them realize that every sound bite, every tweet, every interview is going to come back to haunt them.

And then there are Orangie's bruises, the ones that are being covered up with make-up because too many people were beginning to pay attention to them.  They imply he is not in the best of health.  If something were to happen to him, we'd be stuck with Vance, a man whom every one derides.

DeepSeek

Wonder of wonders!  The temp outside was 37 (F) this morning when I let Howie out for his morning pee.  They had called for flurries, but if the fell, they flew by too fast to see.  Even better, according to the forecasters temps are supposed to stay this warm until Sunday when they're expected to dip down into the mid 30s (F).  I can handle this.

Yesterday was a boring day at work.  I spent the 5 hours getting in steps.  This is the slow time of year.  As far as I can tell the only ones  spending money are the Conservatives who don't understand the economy is going to take a deep dive because of fiscal policies.  They are also going to be the first to complain when things go south.

On a really bright note this morning, my Income Tax Refund hit my bank account this morning.  I wasn't expecting those dollars to be available until next Friday at the earliest.  The refund will be used to pay off my windows, but not until after I've used it to earn some interest.  That means it going to be working for me in my savings account.

As I've said, I'm thinking of downsizing my aquariums.  When I cleaned the big one last week, I started by removing one of the Greek statues.  There was a lot of algae growing on it, and at first I thought that I'd bleach it clean, making it nice and white again.  However, I discovered that in the drying process the algae created a rather interesting patina on the statue.  Now I don't think I'll bleach and of them.  I mean tell me, doesn't this look freaking awesome?

And for those who didn't hear about it, Wall Street went through a correction yesterday, if that's what you want to call it.  Something called DeepSeek, a Chinese AI program put American AI programs to shame.  It's less expensive and does a better job, but then American Greed has bloated our AI programs because our developers are focused on making money, not producing a good product.

This doesn't mean that I've suddenly gone overboard on AI.  While there are certain aspects I find interesting, it does truly need to be carefully managed.

The Orange Anus also signed an Executive Order reinstating everyone of those members of the military who were discharged because they refused to be vaccinated for Covid... with 4 years of back pay.  This is how you start to build a private army.  This is not going over well with those hundreds of thousands who got the vaccine.  This grows loyalty in a small and most likely insignificant group of people.  Remember, anti-vaxers will always end up dying first.

A little head?

Today is Super Bowl Sunday - I only work until 4:30, so I'll be home, but... I won't watch.  Duh.
I got a call from the delivery people while at work yesterday.  Wednesday's the day for delivery.  They will call me Monday or Tuesday with a 3 hour window.  I'm off.  The temperature is supposed to be in the mid 40's (F)... what could be better?
This guy named Northam, the governor of Virginia may (or may not have, depending upon which of his stories you want to believe) while back in college.  Was that him in the picture?  Maybe.  Was it a stupid thing to do?  Definitely.  Are we going to publicly punish every one of those students in that yearbook?  Nope.  Except for Northam, they're all going to go about their happy, happy ways.  You can bet some of those students matured into very conservative Republicans, Northam, on the other hand, liberalized his views and became a Democrat.  A lot of Democrats say he should resign.  A lot Republicans are saying the same thing, not because they find his prank racist, but rather because they want to stake a Democratic Governor.  He says he's not going to.  Me?  I say we should let the people of Virginia decide.  Democracy is for the people and by the people.  In the next election the voters of Virginia will decide if he's racist or not.  They will look as his record.  Is it Liberal or Conservative?  Has he been a good Democrat?  The calls for him to resign are well taken, they show we hold our own accountable, unlike those Republicans who voted for Kavanaugh.  At the end of the day, however, we need to let the Virginians choose.  It's their right as Americans.
The AI on my Galaxy 8 is acting up.  Yesterday, as my alarm was going off, Bixby said "today's going to be a good day for a picnic."  The sun did come out, but the temp only made it up to 33 (F).  This morning Bixby said "today's going to be cool and cloudy," and the temp's are supposed to go up to 44 (F).  Oops.
The other day, as I was laying in bed, Seig rested his head upon my chest.  For those who don't understand... this is not a little head.
