Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Taking the High Road

Well, here it is, Monday morning already.  The temp in the cycling, gaming computer room is a warm 78 (F), only a few degrees warmer than it is outside.  Tomorrow, the mercury is supposed to crack 101 (F), a rarity for us.  The prediction is for spotty thunderstorms this afternoon, by spotty they mean that they'll bypass Enola.  This seems to happen a lot on the West Shore, with many of the recent storms trekking up the valleys to the north and south of us.

Yesterday was a boring work day.  I did get a measure.  I sold some carpet, somebody else's measure so they'll get the sale.  I also designed some blinds - a really big order, probably around $24,000.  There was a time when you could sell a measure for a blind install, but the associate who designed the blinds would get most of the credit.  They changed a while back.  The associate who sold this measure didn't work yesterday, and will not be working today when the customer will probably buy.  Myself and another associate will put in the design time and the credit will go to the individual who spent 5 minutes setting up the measure.  This is an issue which needs to be fixed.

Anybody what to guess how Myra Gershwin comes into play in The Body in History?  (Can you hear me laughing).

And in just 6 weeks I'll be in Greece.  I did get an update from Explore.com.  After I land in Athens, I will need to go through immigration, get my luggage (1 suitcase) and go to the airport entrance where I should find someone holding up a sign with my name on it.  At least, this is how it's supposed to work.  When I went to Paris, I had to call the hotel and have them send my ride.  I'm looking forward to  seeing this:

I also saw where they're beginning to think the attack on Trump's ear as Domestic Terrorism, rather than a shot fired at his earlobe.  It turns out that the shooter was not the one who made a $15 donation to a Blue Pac, that was a much older white man from Pittsburgh with the same name.  So far, they're not finding anything in his past to indicate he had a grudge against Trump (even though so many of us do).

I saw where Melanoma put out some sort of statement about the "violent bullet" that struck her husband's ear.  Someone needs to tell Melanoma that bullets are violent, shooter are.

Both Democrats and Republicans, as well as their presidential candidates and ask for calmness on both sides: the Republicans are not listening.  Representative Mike Collins, another wack job from Georgia, is publicly saying that Biden put out the hit on Trump.  Their base is angry, and they're going to do everything in their power to enrage them even more.

Finally, some unknown senior Democrat has supposedly said that a number of Democrats have resigned themselves to four more years of the Orange Anus.  This individual is a spineless sack of shit who needs to be identified and rooted out.  Taking the high road doesn't mean giving up hope at the drop of the hat, and I don't doubt for a second that person still believes in polls.

Martyrdom

Well, it's a beautiful Saturday morning and, as usual, I'm going to go to work this afternoon.  I'm not expecting it to be busy.  Memorial Day is done.  Because temps are going to be staying in the low 80s (F), those who want to, will be doing outdoorsy things.  Those who don't will most likely be watching baseball.

I am hoping that the customer who was measured for 21 blinds has stopped in at the store to get them designed.  There are all sorts of complicated things with that measure.  They want a blind, or shade, for an arched window, several sliding doors, and at least 2 faux shelves for two of the windows.  These are things I rarely design at this point in my career, don't want to become overly familiar with.  The associate we have who's an expert with blinds and shades is on vacation until Thursday.  I'm hoping they decide to wait for him.  They were measured in April, so I'm hoping that another week or two wont be too much of a problem for them.

Rather than ride the bike today, I'm going to go for a row, just to change things up.

I've also been sending out the teaser for The Body on the Lawn to selective people, and the response has been very good.

And I snapped a pic of one of my red roses yesterday.  There are 2 buds next to it waiting to bloom.  I love this color.

And I don't know if I've mentioned it, but I find it truly delightful to know that Steve Bannon is finally going to jail.  There are complaints about how long he has until he has to report to the "Big House."  I'm wondering if he'll even show up.  His nature is to be combative and noncompliant. He's a loud mouth who seems to believe his fat gives him authority.  It doesn't.  If he does show up, he'll be in jail up to the election, though I'm of the opinion he would rather become a fugitive from the law.  Martyrdom has too little honor for Stevie.

Godzilla Minus One

A nice day has been forecasted and I'm going to enjoy those mid 80s (F) temps.  If the long range forecast is accurate, our summer's going to be not too hot, and not too cold, pretty much like the porridge Goldilocks liked that was just right.

Yesterday work was bothersome.  I had partially completed their design when I was called over to mix paint so the supervisor could get a lunch break, so I turned it over to an associate who's much better with designing blinds then I am.  He was not exactly happy with this, since he's isn't going to get credit for the sale.  For that matter, neither am I.  There used to be a time when changing a design would net you some of the sales.  Not any more.  Well, this couple went home, and then returned 20 minutes before I was scheduled to leave, and since there's no way I was going to stay past my scheduled time, I turned them over to him again.  This like this are irritating.  I felt bad for him, since he was going to end up spending hours with them.

I watched Godzilla Minus One last evening, it's on Netflix, and was pleasantly surprised.  I'd heard it was good, and I've always liked Godzilla movies.  Then, to be perfectly honest, I've always like monster movies, but the directors took a different approach with this one.  It's focused on just a few individuals, rather than the destruction of Tokyo.  It was the first Godzilla film to win an Academy Award.

I saw that Elon Musk has had the policies changed on Zitter (if that's how it's pronounced) clearing the way for porn.  While pornophiles may be cheering, keep in mind that it once used to be a legitimate platform of news, with porn on the side.  Now legitimate news has fled to other platforms, including Threads, and Elon's got to make money some way.  Unfortunately, I suspect this will end up being bad for porn, because Zitter seems to have mounting problems just like his other businesses, and like other flailing billionaires, Musk will have to put the blame somewhere, rather than admit to his own incompetence.

And Hunter Biden's jury was selected yesterday.  My personal feeling is that he 's going to be found guilty.  He did something stupid, and while he's going to try and blame it on his problem with drugs, that can't be used for an excuse. This is how it is.

Oh, My Gosh!

Outside, the temp is 34 (F).  Our expected high here in Central PA is  51(F), but I'm wagering we're going to top off a few degrees above that, possibly 55 (F) or more.  That's been the case, even when it's predicted to be cold, we're a few degrees above the low high temperature... or should that the the high low temperature?  Golly gee whiz, that's almost a song!

Yesterday work was really boring.  Oh, my gosh!  I did cut rolled carpet and vinyl sheeting for customers.  I talked to a few non-customers, the ones who haven't yet decided to climb up onto that fence of indecision.  One of my fellow specialists dealt with a woman who wanted a "ballpark" estimate on what it would cost for blinds.  We get this frequently, people who are sticking the teeny, tiny little toe into the water and come to us completely unprepared.  You know there are going to be problems when the customer says it's "your standard window."  There is no such thing as a standard window, there are always variations which is why shims are used during installation.  This customer did that "standard window" comment one better.  When asked for the dimensions she said, "oh, I don't know, but I took a picture."  Oh, my gosh!  A picture might be worth a thousand words, but it does not provide dimensions.

My new pack and suitcase arrived yesterday.  The suitcase is a bit larger than I had been expecting, but it will be fine.  I'll be able to pack a lot of underwear, shirts, and shorts.  Here's a pic of the pack.

Of course, the Orange Anus had his $464 bond reduced to $174 by a sympathetic appeals court.  Immediately afterward I began seeing shouts of "rich white privilege," appearing on social media.  In his tiny brain, he sees this reduction as a win.  In the broader scope of things, while it may please his tightly wrapped base, most Americans going to see it as a rich guy really being able to get away with what ever he wants, and it will hurt him.  People are getting fed up with seeing "talking head" billionaires (or wannabe billionaires) having courts define just how privileged they are.  While this may have gone his way, his porno trial date is now set for April 15.  Shortly after, the Spawn of Satan spit out an incoherent word salad of hatred.  I don't know which media outlets aired it, probably Fox noise, but CNN started to and the cut away.

There is also a growing amount of evidence that his campaign is seriously falling behind the Biden campaign in the fundraising department.  People just are donating their hard earned $$$ to a loser.  One thing you can bet on, no matter how much he lies about donating his own money, it'll be a cold day in Hell before he uses one thin dime of his own lack of wealth to pay for his campaign.  That debt belongs to his cult.

Cover this

After today I don't have to work for 6 full days, now isn't that nice.  I am sooooo happy for that.  And just what will I be doing on my Staycation, probably not as much as I did on the one I took about 3 weeks ago.  But then, isn't this how life is supposed to be as we get older.  Do less while we do more?  This means I'm not going to laze around, though the temptation will be great.  There is a difference between doing, and accomplishing, one is a process and the other a completion.

Yesterday was really slow I work.  I had an appointment scheduled for 5:15 PM and the customer showed up 10 minutes before I was going to leave, over an hour late.  This was for a blind design.  Some customers will spend a lot of money on blinds, thousands of dollars.  Yes, you read that right, they will fork out thousands of dollars.  The associate I handed them off to is very meticulous with his designs.  Customers love him for that.  He will spend 2 hours making sure the design is correct.  Me?  I'll spend 10 minutes.  Yesterday's late customer will probably be much happier with him.

Here's a bit of something you might find interesting, concept art for the next book cover.  As I said, it was a fairly slow day at work yesterday.

I saw where Dum Dum DeSantis rolled out treatment for Covid: monoclonal antibodies.  Treatments are intravenous and take over an hour, and help patients with mild to moderate symptoms.  This is some of the same shit they shot into Trump when he had Covid.  This is doing nothing to stop the spread.  Wouldn't it be smarter to get people vaccinated, rather then wait until they were moderately ill to do something?  Not if your a MAGA.

Oh, and speaking of Loser #45.  Yesterday was supposed to be reinstatement day for him.  Stop...Laughing!  Stop...Laughing!
