Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Flash

Well, it's Sunday.  I'm off.  We're an hour later.  I didn't change any of my clocks.  Most of them change by themselves - we're in the digital age.  Those I have to change?  Well, that will happen sometime today.
I bought wine last evening to celebrate finishing the first draft...  no, not yet.  Next week, probably.  Then the editing begins.  Things will be added and other things will be removed.  I have a reader who will go through the first draft highlighting lapses in logic I, myself, don't see.  Several of the characters, like Mathieu Serault, will need to be introduced earlier.  No problem.  Right now it's as long as the first book.  "The Body on the Lawn" gained around 4000 words between drafts.  We will have to see.  Completion of the first draft is when work begins on the cover art.  I've been talking to Cori about bullet holes.  They're not so flashy when their in flesh.  Of course, the idea is for people to see the cover and say WOW!, not wow.  The back cover is all mine.  In case you're wondering, there will not be a bloody knife this time.
We had our inventory this past Thursday.  In the past we were swarmed by RGIS counters.  This time?  Not so many.  Over the past two days we've discovered they missed things and had a number of the counts wrong.  I'm getting the distinct impression that our inventory is now being managed by logarithms down in Atlanta.  There doesn't really seem to be a need for humans to do a physical count.  What proof do I have?  Stores with low shrink are now only being inventoried every 2 years.
I guess the Idiot Jerk in the White House is going to be dropping his budget for the upcoming year on Tuesday.  No one is excited.  Someone on Bloomberg was saying it will land with a "resounding thud."  It will entail the country borrowing more  money to pay for nonessential shit.  You know?  The racist crap that gives his bases big boners.  This is how the Idiot Jerk strikes deals.  "You vote for me and I'll fluff up your white, racist hearts."  You all know what a Fluffer is, don't you?

Squeak, squeak

My first of 4 days off in a row and.... someone forgot to tell the dogs what 'Daylight Savings Time' is because changing the clock on the wall has done nothing to change their biological clocks.  Their normal time to go outside is between 4 and 4:30 (yes, I get up early).  Now it's between 3 and 3:30.  Isn't Nature wonderful?
And rain is in the forecast for today, and also for tomorrow morning as well.  Originally the forecast had been for Nature's urination to start this morning and run through tomorrow, election day.   The heaviest rains will occur today.  Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer with occasional showers and storms.  Shitty, rainy weather doesn't bode well for polling when it comes to older, white Republicans.  Standing in a line with an umbrella is not what they want at all.  I suspect that, like the Wicked Witch of the West, they have nightmares about melting.  Democrats, on the other hand, will crawl over broken glass to vote in this election.  I mean, what's a little water, a little pain, for the chance to wipe that shit stained smile off the face of the Idiot Jerk in the White House.
So, does anyone know of Melania has started packing yet?  Oh, wait, did she even unpack?  I suppose her natural inclination would be to just leave everything behind and just buy everything new.
On a lighter note, Lily pulled the squeaky thing from Biggie's brown beaver.  I had to take it from her.  Given the chance dogs will eat those plastic things.

The squeaky thing
Someone should tell Republicans these things aren't natural.  They're going to start gulping them down as the polls start closing and the votes get counted.  By Wednesday the only thing coming out of their mouths will be a squeaking noise.  Of course, that's about all that comes out of their racist mouths now.
Vote Blue.
Let's make these suckers squeak!

Personally

So, did everybody enjoy that extra hour of sleep this morning?  I know I did.  Even the dogs enjoyed it.  The only bad thing about it will be that we're going to lose it come spring.
The racist customer called me at work yesterday.  Her flooring was scheduled to be delivered and she hadn't paid attention... at all.  You can pay an extra $20 and get a one hour window, or just pay standard fee and get a phone call 1/2 hour before the truck arrives.  Standard delivery is between 0600 and 2000 (8 PM).  Well, she thought they be hauling her less expensive flooring into her house between 0600 and 0800.  So... I had to correct her error.  She took it well.
A lot of people have been writing about the midterms and not just bloggers.  I don't have cable, but I'm sure if I did every other commercial would be political.  Turn out is supposed to be exceptional.  Write-in ballots are on par with a presidential election.  Nobody wants to have another repeat of the shit show which started in 2016.  Someone in Politco wrote that "this cycle Democrats will crawl across broken glass" to vote.  Were that only the case.  There are voters registered Democrat who will not cast a vote because... they just don't care.  They will come up with some excuse.  In Pennsylvania, storms are forecast for Tuesday afternoon.  For some people, that's a really good excuse.  "I might get rained on."  Their minds don't even think about the alternative.  They see the racism and hatred in our Capital and say things like..."well, it doesn't effect me personally."  They don't understand that is how fascism starts, when people start saying "it doesn't effect me personally."  And then it's too late.  Power is the most corrupting force in the Universe.  Democracy fights that corruption.  Democracy takes the power from a few and gives it to the many.  Not voting permits those corrupt few the power to control your destiny.  And for those who say "it doesn't effect me personally," believe me, they will roll you over with a steamroller if you give them the power to do so.  They do not care about you 'personally.'  All they care about is their power and their control.
Go out and vote on Tuesday.  Your future is at stake.
Vote Blue.
