Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Karma and the Supreme Court

The temps are in the mid 60s (F) and only predicted to climb into the upper 70s (F), so the A/C and the ceiling fans are turned off.  However, the cloudy, drizzle of yesterday meant using the dryer rather than hanging my 2 loads of laundry out to dry, so while it was a savings on my electrical bill, it wasn't a great savings, more of a trade-off.  And even though the temperature is not cooking, it's still humid.

I put a timer on the light for the aquarium in the the living room.  My neighbor from across the street will be feeding my fish while I'm gone, but I don't want her having to come over to turn the lights off, and then come back over to turn them off.  I'm not wild about having people in my house when I'm not home, so the fewer times she's inside, the better.

Feeling there was a need for a break between the backsplash and the counter, I put a tile border in yesterday putting a line between the two.  It's tan, and dresses up the counter / backsplash.

And I finally went to see Deadpool and Wolverine last evening.  There is a reason why it's the number 1 movie in the country, earing over $420 million in just 13 days.  It's funny.  It's violent.  It's also touching at times.  It has the ugliest dog in the world.  And most important!  There is chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.  It's a buddy film in which the buddies don't really like each other, and sometimes hate each other, and frequently try and kill each other, a difficult thing to do since they both regenerate.  I enjoyed this immensely!

Here's something to think about:  many were upset when the Supreme Court decided that presidents have immunity for almost everything they do when they're in office.  Of course, the majority of conservatives reached this decision when they believe the Spawn of Satan, Donald Trump, was easily going to win this election because he was running against Joe Biden.  They were giving the Orange Anus the power to do whatever he wanted in order to force the country down an ultra conservative path.  Now, however, the game has changed.  Trump is running against Kamala Harris and flailing.  The "Sure Thing" the Supreme Court was counting on has now become a millstone around their necks.  This is why Gorsuch whined about Democrats changing the courts.  The fact that they believe themselves to be kingmakers is not lost a a large majority of Americans.  Their Karma is approaching.  When it comes, do not be overjoyed at their suffering.  Nope.  Just enjoy the feeling of satisfaction that the world is now a better place.

Disappointment Day

Well, yesterday was disappointing as hell, wasn't it?  Chief Justice Kennedy's announcement was quite the stunner.  Not that it came as a total surprise, there have been rumors for quite some time.  Still, the idea of the Supreme Court losing it's 'swing voter' is more than a little disheartening.  Of course, the Republicans are going to try to rush through a nominee before the Mid-Terms.  You can bet they're going to be pushing a man in his forties who has no problem shitting on women's rights. They want another Neil Gorsuch who will give Conservatives what ever they want.  This is how they say "fuck you" to the majority of people in this country.  For all you voters who sat home in 2016, those of you who thought your vote didn't matter, or who believed Hillary had it in the bag - this is your payday.  This is what your apathy is depositing into your account.  Same sex marriage?  You know they're going to go after that, chipping that right to bits and pieces.  If you didn't vote and are beginning to get worried - good, this is the price you pay for staying home.
And is if that wasn't disappointing enough, I went to see "Jurassic World, Fallen Kingdom" last evening.  I'd watched a video in which some guy said he thought the whole movie was sad.  He was wrong.  This latest installment isn't said, it's cynical as hell.  I'm suspecting this might be the middle part of a trilogy which will end on a brighter note.  But, even if that's the case, there were some serious problems, like predictability, and lack of originality.  There's a dumbwaiter scene lifted straight from the script of Jurassic Park.  Right from the beginning there are problems.  A volcanic eruption is threatening to destroy all life on the island.  Spoiler alert.  At the height of the eruption, an aerial shot proves the island is much, much bigger than the eruption, that you'd actually need some sort of Krakatoa event to destroy all life.  About 20 minutes in, you realize the writers decided to cobble most of the script from a discarded draft of Jurassic Park 2.  Chris Pratt was fine, but not as funny.  He evidently realized the best parts of this film, were the clips they used that were supposed to be from the first Jurassic World.

As I said, this movie wasn't as sad as much as it was cynical.  Of course, we're all going to become a lot more cynical when the new, conservative justice takes his seat at the Supreme Court.

Tit for Tat?

Well, from everything I've been reading, it looks as though the Idiot in the White House is going to be signing another Executive Order tomorrow, the dreaded Religious Freedom Order.  I have no doubt that this is his Tit for Tat.  I don't even question it because he's such a small minded man.  He's petty.  His budget got kicked to September, the Democrats pretty much dictated what they wanted and... get this... he signed it.  He approved 'no boarder wall.'  In fact, there are a whole bunch of "no's"  in there that he wanted, and in his mind it's payback time.  He's going to make the majority pay by allowing a minority sect of Christianity discriminate against... gays, because they don't like gay marriage.  But rest assured, this order allows them to discriminate against more than just gays.  If you're a devout Evangelical you believe Catholics worship idols... well, this order is going to let you treat them like shit... and get away with it.  If you're dark complected and might a Muslim... "we're sorry, we don't serve you here."  The same thing goes with Hindi's, I mean, holy crap, Hindi's have more than one god!  And you never know, every Asian out there just might be a Buddhist.  Which is why this thing will be signed and then head off towards the Supreme Court where they're praying Gorsuch will give it his nod of approval.

The sticking point for the might be the fact that even though Gorsuch's a social conservative, he's also a constitutionalist, meaning that his interpretation would have to be that "Freedom of Religion" applies only to Christianity.  I suspect this hot potato will be punted back to the courts, which means he's going to resort to more tit for tat.  One of these days the Idiot might understand that America is growing tired of him shaking his sagging, old man boobs every time things don't go his, and that's just going to piss him off more.

The GOP Nuclear Option failure

Some guy named Gorsuch is up for a Supreme Court position, and Mitch McConnell says he will be confirmed this week, even if the Republicans have to pull the their Nuclear Option, which would stop the Democrats from filibustering the nomination.  Doing so would be a horrendous mistake for the GOP... and, of course, most of them are too stupid to know this.  You see right now a majority of Americans view the Idiot in the White has poorly, in fact is approval rating is terribly, terribly bad.  After years and years about hating the ACA, shrieking how they were going to repeal it, and the Idiot in the White house bragging about how he was going to do this in the first 100 days, they failed in a very public way.  To put this in a more simple vernacular, they shit in their pants.
And now the Gorsuch nomination is upon us and this very unpopular party, and their very unpopular president are threatening to go Nuclear.  This is the kind of thing dictators do, you know?  We're in charge, so screw you.  Making this even more worse for the GOP is the fact that now 3 Democrats have said their going to vote for Neil, which makes going Nuclear a purely partisan play.  And America is watching.  And a majority disapproves.  But do you think that matters to the GOP?  Of course not.  Since they managed to get their Idiot in the White House, they're going to do exactly what they want, no matter what the majority think....  Do I smell another pair of shitty pants?

And as I'm typing this my phone and monitor are turning into little Christmas trees with news flashes of bombs going off in St Petersburg... while the Idiot's bro Vlad is in town.  Not good for Vlad.  Sometimes this is what happens to dictators.  Of course, the Idiot's going to blame it on either fake news or the Hilary Clinton... isn't that what he always does?
